Marvelous Moxie Lipstick - null
I want the old formula back
I do not like this formula, it's way too sheer and shiny. I really miss the old formula. This one definitely feels like there is a moisturizer for the lips in it. This lipstick does not stain your lips. This lipstick will definitely leave residue on a drink or your clothes.
Expensive, but worth it.
I have four of these - Get Ready, Speak Your Mind, Raise the Bar, and Make Your Move - so I think it's safe to say I'm a fan of these :) I especially love Speak Your Mind. It's a lovely, versatile nude pink that you can wear either alone, or layered under a lip gloss. It looks gorgeous either way. The only downside to these is that they are very pricey; if I think about how much I spent on these I nearly keel over :P I love them and wear them every day though, so I guess it balances out.
I was so excited to get this lipstick ni Fly High, but when I got it, I was very disappointed. It looks much different than how it is described. You can hardly see the color on your lips. There is very little pigment. I didn't bother to return it because it's not worth the trouble, but be careful which shade you chose. Now I wish I would have bought a brighter color. Last time I buy a shade of lipstick online.
Raise The Bar shade is the BEST!
I love the Marvelous Moxie lipstick shade Raise The Bar. It is a perfect pink neutral for me. Online has been showing out of stock - hopefully it wasn't discontinued. I'm a redhead with fair skin and this works great. I only wish they carried an auburn/copper neutral shade lipstick in Marvelous Moxie. Then I'd have a neutral on the brown/orange spectrum. Go The Distance shade is not a neutral - it is super bright orange.
When I first sampled the lipstick in store, I had noticed the lipstick was broken but I assumed many people tried it on thats why it was the way it is. After having it for three days and wearing it every day I had noticed that my lipstick broke just like the one from the store. Main problem for that is the case. I love the lipstick and color, just wish it lasted a bit longer before it broke :(
Lipstick stays on through a full meal.
Lipstick container and texture of lipstick
Lip stick container does not work. Do not carry this lipsitck in your purse...the top will always come off and your will have a mess. I want a snap shut lipstick container.
And the formulation is on the sticky side. On a windy day your hair is stuck to your lips..annoying..
I like the formula and have no issues with the casing though I prefer a more matte lipstick. Lead the Way looks like a dark purple (and states this in the description) but after I put it on I found that is is really not purple at all. It looks like a dark reddish/pink color with no purple. Bummer. Flying high is a lovely tone of real light purple. So they have a light option for the purple tone lovers. I haven't tried any of the other colors but probably will in the future. I do like that it does not smell like mint.
What's with the new lipstick tube
I have been using your lipstick for as long as I can remember. I have loved it! That was had loved it. You use to carry Bread Pudding and it was so beautiful! Why did you discontinue it?
I could forgive you for that but I can not forgive you for your new lipstick tube design. Never, never again will I buy a tube of your lipstick. I have purchased two tubes, at different times, and in both cases the lipstick doesn't hold it's form (breaks). Why did you change the tube design?
I'll be back when Bread Pudding comes back in the former lipstick tube, former texture - until then - farewell, good-bye.
I still use and love your other products.
Brighter than the picture
I got the shade "Get Ready". I was originally looking for a natural-ish or more subtle shade to wear on an everyday basis. This turned out to be a little too much for that. I might have to look into the light brown shades for everyday. But, it's a really fun and bright color that's not out there if you wear it out to lunch dates or even a casual day at work. Too bright for the days where I feel lazy and don't want to do more than slap on some bb cream and subtle, matte shade of lipstick. I'm Indian so the pink really stands out on my lips. Overall, it can be worn everyday if you're the type to get up early every morning and go the whole nine yards - foundation, eye liner, mascara, a bit of neutral eye shadow and lipstick. It's very easy to put on, nicely pigmented, color does seem to last and doesn't dry out your lips. I put a bit of vaseline on underneath it since I have very dry lips, and that smooths out the lipstick, making it look amazing!
Color is bright orange, not as shown online
I like this lipstick but the color is not as shown online. It is actually a bright orange and I can't use it by itself. I have to use it with another mocha shade to calm it down. I also ordered another lipstick that I thought was a mocha shade but it was too dark. It's really difficult to get a shade I like by ordering online. I have to go to the store to try it out.
Great great product! (color is off on the webpage)
I love Marvelous Moxie Lipstick and owns/tried a couple of colors myself:
My skin color: medium beige - slightly tanned.
It started with a sample of Be free, which is a creamy nude color. I like the texture but you need to be careful with the color since it is a true nude. It will make you look pale if you don't have your cheeks and eyes done.
And then I got a medium sample of Speak your mind. It is more like a baby pink. Very pretty, creamy, and long-lasting.
I tried another two colors in the boutique: get ready and go the distance.
Get ready is a good pink for everyone. My friend got one full size. For me, Go the distance is really interesting to try cuz I was afraid to wear coral color but it looks good on tanned skin. And I am so glad I tried it on. its very pigmented and I got lots of compliment that day. (Will definitely get a full size).
All in all, the texture is creamy and really moisture my lip. It doesn't dry quick like tarte lip stain, (like their foundation though). But it is a cup marker so be careful.
Speak Your Mind
My absolute favorite color is Speak Your Mind. I have very fair coloring and blue eyes and this color is the perfect soft pink color. It is my go to color year round and perfect for a work day. I also really like Never Say Never. Its a bright, vibrant pink that I like for a night out. I just apply it lightly, using a lip brush and top it off with some gloss. The Moxie lipsticks have a nice creamy consistency and long lasting color.
Really amazing lipstick
I am totally in love with this lipstick! I have porcelain skin and am always a little scared to try lip shades because they either work really well or look absolutely horrible (usually absolutely horrible haha). I decided to trust another reviewer who has light skin and really recommended the shade Get Ready, and I have no regrets. I really love the red-pink color, and it lasts a really long time. It is a bright and cheerful shade that also moisturizes and feels so amazing on the lips. Will be looking forward to taking a chance on some other shades because this lipstick is just too awesome. Also, I really like the tube being a bit harder to open because I know my cap won't accidentally detach while moving around in my purse or anything. I think it's neat.
Good lipstick, great colors
I can't comment on the container that others have complained about since I bought the "Kiss and Tell" collection which comes with sample sizes. I also received a sample of Be Free with a recent order.
This lipstick is very high quality, although for the price I'm not sure I would buy the full-sized versions except of the exceptional color Get Ready (see below). This lipstick is incredibly rich and creamy and leaves doesn't dry out my lips. I've used it with and without lipliner and haven't had any problems with bleeding (although I do not have fine lines around my mouth). When used with lipliner, and using the typical method for applying lipstick, this lipstick is long lasting and the colors and range of colors are beautiful. (For reference: the typical method is, lipliner all over lip, apply, blot, apply powder (I use some old maybelline foundation or mineral veil), and apply again, and blot. Try this method before you write this product off.)
Colors: Overall I would say the pictures are true to color (except Be Free) but the descriptions are not always.
*Go all out: Vibrant Barbie doll pink. Definitely not a good color for work but a beautiful spring color that I have not been courageous enough to wear yet. Maybe soon.
*Speak your mind: Rich ballerina pink. This color is almost pure pink with no red, purple, or orange undertones. A great every day color for spring and summer. Great with my skin tone.
*Get ready: A purplish red. I would not call this a "warm rosy pink" as the website does. I find the color to be much more red. This is my absolute favorite color of any lipstick I've owned. It's very beautiful and I believe would be a very nice go-to red for anyone with light and medium skin. I think it would appear more muted on someone with darker skin, but would still be beautiful.
*Break away: Redish-brown mauve. Not a bad color but not for me. I believe it to be a little to intense a mauve for my (very) light skin tone. There is some nice red in there but I would call the color mostly brown.
*Be bold: Blackberry. Seems to be discontinued. I don't love this color because berry isn't the color for me but it is a very nice, pure berry color if that's what you're into.
*Be free: Light caramel. This has to be the absolute ugliest color I have ever seen. It's a little less golden than a piece of caramel. Definitely not flattering for light skin, and I can't imagine it would look good on darker skin either. Definitely not a creamy "pink" nude. It is pure brown.
Bleeds into lip wrinkles
I am old (65) and getting older. This is the first lipstick of any brand that I have purchased that "bleeds" into the fine lines surrounding my lips. I don't wear a lipliner and wonder if it will help. Otherwise loved the lipstick--the color (Never Say Never), the feel (creamy and not greasy) and the wear.
Poorly designed lipstick tube
5 stars for color, staying power, and formula but 0 stars for functionality. I received a sample of "Get Ready" in my Ipsy bag and immediately bought the full size version since I loved the color. HOWEVER, there are major design flaws with the actual lipstick tube. First off it has a weird side button you push to separate the two halves of the tube. Unfortunately the button isn't effective and the top keeps coming off in my bag so I'm nervous it will stain my purse. I guess their trying to be unique with the design but its just not effective. The second issue is that the lipstick isn't secured to the tube properly. Both my trial and full size lipsticks separated from the tube and broke in half after a few uses. After spending this much money on lipstick just to have it break I probably won't be purchasing again.
Awesome color & prodcut
I bought the Call The Shots, red and I LOVE IT. It is great with my skin tone (which is pale) and it is a great lipstick in general. Yes I wish it lasted longer, all my coffee cups quickly get stained in red BUT it does stain my lips so even long after it has wiped off, they are a great shade of red. The cracking and drying complaints have nothing to do with this lipstick. If you aren't drinking enough water to hydrate nor taking care to moisturize your lips properly, of course any lipstick is going to crack, "leak", or dry out your already uncared for lips. Just like any other part of your face, you need to make certain you care for your lips properly and not rely on a lip color to do the work for you. A healthy pair of lips is going to show this color and lipstick off brilliantly. I am NOT a lipstick person, I prefer glosses and even the old Buxoms but this is definitely a winner. It looks great with or without a liner and the case it comes in is great. I have absolutely no worries that my lid will come off in my make-up bag and spoil the lipstick.
Great Color, Not So Long Lasting
I ordered this lipstick in Light It Up red and love the color, but this lipstick just does not last on your lips. Even with lip liner, this lipstick bleeds into MY fine lines around my lips, and I'm only 20. I have to reapply about once every hour or two, which is way too often for me. I am more of a lipstain than a lipstick kind of girl, so I may be biased, but having to check in the mirror every hour seems drastic to me. Make this lipstick last for at least three hours and you've got a great product.
I ordered "be free" and when I put it on I realized what a hideous color it is. It's dry and makes my lips look cracked. The taste is so disgusting it actually makes me nauseous. I have never had a bad bare escentuals product until now. My advice is to try a different product. Maybe this is just one of the odd ball products that didn't quite make the cut. Everything else I have ever bought from them has been great.
Great colors, great consistency....
Love the look and feel of these lipsticks. I just wish they stayed on better. They look great until you take a sip of coffee or eat something.
Get these lipsticks to last better, and you've got a clear winner!
It really IS marvelous!
I loved the color of "Rise up" because I figured it would wear with jeans as easily as with business attire. It looks even better on than I anticipated and feels marvelous. There's nothing "gummy" or sticky about this lipstick. Instead it feel like a lip balm while wearing like the best lipstick I've ever owned. Well done, BE.
I am not usually a lipstick person, but decided to try it since I basically love everything in the BM line. This lipstick is the best I have ever tried. The only thing that would make it 5 stars instead of 4 is to be a little bit more lasting. Otherwise, the colour saturation is amazing, glides on smoothly, it feels DELICIOUS on my lips, no other way to describe it. Will be buying this in more shades.
Lip Balm all grown up
I am not a lipstick person, I am usually a lipgloss or tinted lip balm person. But after falling in love with the Moxie lipgloss I thought I would try the lipstick. It is amazing! The case is neat too. I purchased the Make Your Move shade and it is perfect for just a little color. I look forward to trying a darker shade for dressing up in my Perfect 10 pack!
Wonderful Lipsticks ~ Love Them!!!
I adore this new formula, and the inspirational names as well ~ keep up the great work with new innovations!!!
Adore this lipstick!
I cannot get enough of this lipstick! Break Away is my absolute favorite. Subtle, beautiful, hydrates, and stays in place. When I want something a touch darker I enjoy Stand Out. I have also tried Call the Shots which turns a touch too orange on me, Rise Up which is very subtle, and Raise the bar which is not subtle at all! Over all this is a fantastic product.
Lead the Way - a wearable dark lipstick
I was looking for a wearable berry lipstick when I came across Lead the Way. At first I was sure that it was too dark for daily wear, but the wonderful thing is that it has buildable coverage - meaning a light swipe will get you this pretty pink-berry stain and more applications can get you the dark dramatic almost brown color (use lip liner). Either way, the color is beautiful. My lips dry out easily, but this is super smooth and has a velvet finish.
Pros and Cons
I have Get Ready in both the full size and the mini from the All the Faves Kit. I love the color of the lipstick and the feel so I bought it in the full size after trying it in the kit. It makes my lips pop and it feels a lot more natural than other lipsticks. However, I prefer having the mini sampler one I received than the normal sized because I have had problems with this one's packaging. The lipstick itself seems like it is about to break and it has scraped on the sides of the tube every time I use it. I do not apply a lot of pressure when using it either because I am afraid it will break off. It almost seems like it's melting too, which is strange because I keep it in a cool bathroom that doesn't have any windows. I am going to try freezing it to see if that helps. The mini did not seem to have the same problems and I prefer using that one because the color is fabulous!
Dare to go dark
For years I was told that dark lipsticks make thin lips like mine look bad. Lately I've decided to test that and took a chance on Lead the Way. Wow! The color is amazing, and the lipstick itself really is like butter. Goes on very smooth and feels luxurious on your lips.
nice high end lipstick
One of my favorite high end lipsticks to splurge on. I love the packaging and the lipstick is creamy, smooth and rich in color. Almost glides on your lips, doesn't tug or pull. I actually like these more than MAC.
