Well-Rested Face and Eye Brightener
Well rested face and eye brightener
Difficult to smooth out...container doesn't distribute easily. Not nearly as efficient as original powder form...will go back to that.
Essentially did nothing.
I've used MANY eye illuminators, this was the first time using this brand's.... So disappointed. Really. It essentially did nothing at all. I tried it many different ways, from putting it on before my concealer all the way to putting it on after my Ready foundation. It didn't make any difference at all. Frankly, to be honest, a drug store brand that costs 1/4 of the price has done a better job IMO of "illuminating" the eye area to take away from dark circles.
I suppose if youre looking for an overall face highlighting product this might be what you would be looking for, but if you're looking for strictly under eye / dark circle concealer/highlight/illuminating then look elsewhere.
I have given it 2 stars b/c it is a very light weight product which makes it easily blendable so you could use it over your foundation and not have the product smudge or cake up - but thats the only reason it did not get 1 star. Which is sad b/c I was hoping this would be an amazing product.
I am sure other people have different opinions, but for me, this did not work.
I think the Well-Rested pen is a great product, because it does brighten your undereye area. What I do is use the Well-Rested pen and my BareMinerals concealer afterwards, it really helps with the covering and to look more awake. The product pretty much does its work! It's not a concealer on its own though, not like the powder.. I've seen people comment that they wish it gave more coverage. For extra coverage, I would probably go for the Stroke of Light.
Wish it covered my dark under eye area more but I like it!
Well Rested- Love What's Inside BUT
Bought this new product and it works well but the container it is in broke after a few turns and I am unable to get the use out of the actual product. Just change the packaging to a tube ...
I had received a full size sample from sephora a few weeks ago! And hadn't used it till one day! Now I'm all about going over the top on making the unders of my eyes bright! So when I first tried this gem I was besides my self! It cuts so much time out and gives me that desired brightness I love and need! I would tell everyone that this is a must in there make-up bag! Another home run on this one
I have bought this alone and in a collection and will continue to buy! It works and always makes my eyes look rested and fresh!
Sample that I'll buy again & again!
I received a sample of Well Rested Face & Eye Brightener in a Sephora bonus. I was skeptical, but was incredibly surprised at how well it works. It's so easy to use, and is perfect for highlighting right under my brows, the inside and outside corners of my eyes. I love the pen format. I don't tend to have under eye circles, so I can't speak for how well it handles that issue. It's not sparkly, or shiny, just a nice highlight. If I use it in the morning, adding a tad more at the end of the day is a nice refresher. Once the sample's gone, I'll definitely be buying more!
Gives a beautiful highlighted eye look. I do prefer the loose well rested to the pen, however, the liquid well rested does have an ever-so-slight of a natural shimmer to it that makes the brightening so beautiful.
This is nothing like the original powder Well Rested. The powder was great at hiding little dark spots and as an all-over light concealer. I don't have big dark circles, but the powder form was always great for actually brightening my eyes. This makes them look saggy somehow. This product is watery, runny, and shiny...and does nothing for my skin. The applicator is hard to open and provides very uneven coverage. DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A REPLACEMENT FOR THE POWDER WELL-RESTED. I am thinking I will go back to using a different brand. This is not for me. I expect more from Bare Minerals.
I received this yesterday with the expectation that it would be of similar consistency/coverage to the powder form. I have tried to use it multiple times and am just flat out disappointed. It is nothing like the original; it doesn't provide hardly any coverage. It literally only adds a little moisture and shimmer to your under-eyes, which creates a reflection of light...making your eyes appear brightened. The powder form actually does the job....so please bring it back!
Great product that does WHAT IT SAYS.
I have noticed people talking about "coverage" and the lack thereof. This product is NOT a concealer. The powder concealer or the "stroke of light" will help tone dark dark circles. This product is FABULOUS. for brightening the inner eye area, brow bone, couple spots on the forehead, and especially top of cheekbones which can be hard to do with a lot of products. I like this product for winter, because when I use all powder substances my face dries out and makes me look older than I am. I like that BE is starting to have more liquid or semi-liquid options. Per the dispenser... you have to watch the product come up the tube when you first use it. When it gets close to the brush, start clicking slower, then when it starts flowing out, from then on, ONLY click it 1-2 times at a time. Dab it along the area you want to high light, and then rub it in with your fingertips... it will blend pretty well the other make-up you have on. This product's packaging CAN be tricky to use, and it does not conceal dark spots. BUT this product it not a concealer, so people who have that complaint have bought the wrong product. If you go into a boutique, the workers there will tell you that the big difference in stroke of light and well rested is that well rested brightens the complexion but doesn't conceal. I like the well rested because it brightens without being sparkly- it looks more natural. The powder can be harder to blend sometimes and can sink into wrinkles/dry spots/ fine lines very easy. Just make sure you are buying this product for its intended purpose and you'll love it.
Poor delivery system
I was excited about this product since I have perpetual dark circles under my eyes. When I use it, it doesn't provide enough coverage for me, but that's not the problem. No matter what I did, I couldn't make the product flow our of the applicator. I turned and turned with no success. I called Bare Escentuals and was sent a new container - which isn't much better. I have to shake it, then turn it several times before any product comes into the brush, and often I get no result at all - or so much I can't use it all! So disappointed with this product because I really love Bare Escentuals and recommend it to everyone.
Older under eyes finally get a break!
I just turned 50 and find that powder concealers crease in my under eye area adding to an older crinkly look. Liquid concealers are about the same because the skin is getting very thin under my eyes. This product however, glides on smooth, stays smooth, doesn't sit in creases and brightens so I only need a very thin hint of powder cover for which mineral veil is perfect. I'm really hoping there is some bleaching because much to my chagrin I am getting those age spots under my eyes now too. Even if it won't bleach the age spots, I will definitely buy this product again.
Subtle but noticeable
First of all this is NOT a concealer. I was a little agitated reading negative reviews about this product. The product works well and does exactly what it claims to do (which is not conceal). If you are patient enough to click the pen a few times and wait to see what comes out you won't waste any. It visibly brightens without being sparkly. It blends right in to your foundation. If you have horrible dark eyes use something that claims to be a concealer to cover it. This is not that. It is light and not cakey and I can't even feel it on my face but do see a brighter difference. It's not a miracle worker- it's make up. It is meant to enhance your own beauty- not cover up your whole face in hopes of making you beautiful.
Best brightener I've used
I haven't had to much luck with brighteners in the past because I do not like my face to be glittery. This stuff works so well. It really brightens my under eye area and makes me look like I actually got sleep the night before. I also use it on my forehead and cheekbones to give my face a glowy look. One note is that this product is not a concealer. It brightens, not hides under eye circles. I like to mix it with my concealer for a highlighted, bright look that lasts all day.
Going back to the powder!
So disappointed in this product. It is very unpredictable to use. The cream seems to flow out with a mind of its own so I feel like I waste a lot. It really doesn't seem to do the job it's supposed to do. I was using the Well Rested powder mixed with Eye Rever-upper cream. It was wonderful but I was hoping for one product to do the job of both. This is not the product. Will not buy again.
There are better options
I was really excited to try this product. I often use the loose eyeshadow version (Well-Rested 20 spf Eye Brightener) but wanted something easier for on-the-go and travel. However, I doubt I will use this product, and if I do use it, I will combine it with another product (see "Alternatives" below). The downsides:
(1) Not as full of coverage as the loose shadow version. If you have very, VERY light "dark" areas, this might work well for you. Otherwise, I suggest trying the loose shadow version. I only notice the slightest difference under my eyes and elsewhere when I apply this product generously.
(2) It's difficult to get started. They suggest five "click" turns to get the product flowing. I tried diligently. Then a few more clicks. Nothing. Waited while I kept trying to apply it. Few more clicks, etc. I probably turned it more than twenty times before the product flowed the first time. Ever since then, it's been a little unpredictable about when enough will be in the brush. In sum, it's a tricky, unpredictable application mechanism.
(1) I suggest the Bare Minerals powdered, loose shadow version of Well-Rested (20 SPF) for fuller coverage and controllable application.
(2) I also suggest Bare Minerals' "Stroke of Light Eye Brightener." It is better than all three at brightening (especially the under-eye area), and has slightly more coverage than this liquid well-rested product. Additionally, the Stroke of Light has an excellent application brush that's very easy to control. If you want an on-the-go, liquid option, try the Stroke of Light (which also layers well with the shadow Well-Rested for a best-of-both-worlds effect).
A good solution to dark circles
I'm almost astounded by how well this product works on dark circles under the eyes. I can't speak for puffiness, as I don't have that problem, but this eye brightener blends in wonderfully and makes my skin look even and healthy, and honestly fixing the dark circles made my whole makeup routine look better. My only problem with the product is that after washing my face my under eye area is a little pink, but there is no irritation or dryness, and it fades soon enough. Overall, I expect to buy this brightener again.
NOTHING like the original Well Rested!
I was hoping this was like the original Well Rested. IT IS NOT. In spite of really nice delivery system this product is clear with sparkle. Don't expect any coverage from this product. Huge disappointment.
Instant Dewy Glow
I am absolutely in love with my powder well rested and thought that I would give this a try, when I got it I was a bit disappointed. But then I applied it correctly and I couldn't believe what it did for me. I am a college student and I always struggle with darkness. This product is perfect. I put it on top of my cheekbones, ridge of my nose and my cupids bow.
Also perfect for us addicts that use MATTE but still want the atheral glow
Well Rested Face and Eye Brightener
I purchased this item about 2 weeks ago. It really does lighten and brighten the areas around the eyes. I love the way it looks. I have fine lines and some darkness under my eyes and this helps minimize these areas.
Well Rested Face and Eye Brightener
This product really works amazing! I had to use it two or three times before I realized how amazing the product is. I have very dark circles inside my eyes, a dull complexion, and some red blotchiness around the eyes. I put this stuff on and it brightens my eye area up immediatly. Sometimes I do have to use a little concealer to cover really dark circles or redness, but this stuff works great.
Wakes me up!
I love this brightener. Below my eyes my skin looks a little purple and I have slight bags. This brightens my under eyes and I look more awake and fresher. The only thing for me is that my skin is very sensitive and this gave me bumps on my upper eyelid and in the outer corner of my eyes. It also made that area very itchy. I can only use this under my eyes as it's a skin irritant in those other areas. I really wish I could use it all around my eye -- and I highly recommend this if you do not have sensitive skin. It gives your skin such a nice sheen. I would definitely give this 5 stars if I wasn't sensitive to it!
Miracle in a wand!!
I have an elderly dog and she keeps me up at night sometimes. (please no comments on this subject) I had been up with her one pariticular night for many hours and had to face a group of people for a presentation the next day. I applied the Well Rested Eye and Face Brightener around my entire eye area and then applied my make up. You would not believe the compliments that I had recieved of hoe lovely and rested I looked. This is now a MUST in my make-up arsenal!!!
Nice and bright!
Well hello there you amazing product.
I am so pleased with Well-Rested Face and Eye Brightener. I am a flight attendant and am always looking for great products to help me look fresh and fabulous when I'm feeling not so fresh and fabulous. This does it. I've found that other brightening products I've tried looked caked on around my eye area. But this products is a light formula that brightens and doesn't settle into any creases or wrinkles around the eye area, which I love!
I usually apply this around my eyes after I apply my foundation. I apply one swipe under my eye and up towards my brow and then blend it in by patting my eye area (just how you would apply eye cream). Then I apply my mineral veil and am ready to go.
I really love this product. It is easy to use, light, subtle and you can take it anywhere.
I recently tried the Stroke of Light concealer by itself and was satisfied, but not dependent on it. Then, the gods sent Ashely from the Polaris store to tell me about the new Well Rested pen. I had tried the mineral Well Rested when it first came out, but it didn't conceal my dark circles at all, so I gave up on it. Ashley told me to alternate three dots of Stroke of Light with two dots of Well Rested and pat to blend. The difference is like nothing I've seen--bright, lively, practically irridescent. Either alone may not do it for you, but together, there is no way they can disappoint.
The control and dispensing needs improving. It takes a while for the product to work it's way up the bristles. So waiting is a draw back. Also, it's hard to determine how much you'll get. Either too little or too much once it starts to flow. But once the Well-Rested Face and Eye Brightener is out, it's great! Love the way the light reflects off it and give a bright dewy look to the eyes, nose, lip & cheek area.
This doesn't compare to the original Well Rested!
The product irritates my eyes which have been watering all day from it even though I tried eye drops to stop it. Also turning the pen bottom either produces none to too much of the product which is very gooey. The coverage is also nonexistent and extremely shiny. I prefer a matte finish as I have very oily skin. Up until now I have loved all of the BE products I have bought over the years, since 2005, and used with great success. This one is an exception.
You have to give it a chance!
When I first bought this product I was super excited -- the content was more than the other eye concealer (which is mainly why I bought it) -- but was super irritated at first when I tried to use it and nothing was coming out of the brush! But you have to give it a chance to work itself up the "tube" or container, and then it only takes 2 or 3 clicks for the product to come out. I LOVE the way its super light and thin -- not thick and unnaturally layered the way some concealers look under the eyes. I wake up at 5am every morning for work, and if it can get rid of the bags under MY eyes, then it can definitely work for you! Although I think buying the right shade is super important with this product, so be aware!
