bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 - null
Great Foundation but Packing Wastes Product
I love that BE finally came out with a liquid foundation. I like the coverage that it provides and it is easy to apply with the brush. However, the design of the packing ensures that you are going to lose a significant amount of the product just in the cap. You are supposed to shake it before applying but we will lose more of the product in the cap with the mixing of the ingredients every morning.
BE--yes, I have the cap on tight, redesign the package so we can get the full value.
Bottle is terrible
Product is very nice. Excellent coverage and flattering finish. However, the bottle leaks everywhere: into the box, all over the neck of the bottle and into the cap. Every time I open the product to use it I get foundation all over my hands and whatever I put the bottle on. It is messy and wasteful: I have lost more foundation than I have used. This is an excellent product that I probably won't buy again because of the messy delivery system. I have used Bare Minerals products for many years, but this is a disappointment.
Not for people with oily skin
I was so excited to try this product and the first few wears loved it, however, I noticed my skin was noticeably oilier than normal and this was the only new product I was using. I went back to my BM solid foundation for a few weeks and the oil cleared up. I am disappointed that I invested in not only the bottle but the expensive brush as well. I had high hoes as I love almost all BM products, this one is not for me!
Not for Sensitive Skin
I was excited to try a new BE product since I'm a huge fan and long time user. Initially at the store, I liked the more complete coverage look of the foundation. However once I got outside, I realized the foundation was too light and too yellow. Then as the day progressed I found the foundation felt itchy. After a few more days of use, my skin became a little red and irritated. Not good. What I love about the BE products is not only how good it looks on, but also that it never irritates my skin and never causes breakouts. This new liquid foundation seems to be yet another liquid foundation with all its drawbacks. Definitely sticking with the powder.
I've been using the matte foundation and i absolutely love it. I have tried the original one and didn't like the shimmer it gave me. I recently tried bareskin and fell in love with it. its perfect for the winter cause it gives me skin a hydration. I have such a hard time finding liquid foundations that don't look cakey or break me out. IM SO HAPPY with this product. It make me look so natural and after this I've been exploring more products and I am falling in love with the eye shadows and all over face radiance. the brushes are worth every penny. IM LOVING MY SKIN
I went to BE to sample the foundation. It looked so nice on the BE representative it was so tempting to buy it right away but I explained to her that I breakout very easily so i wanted to sample it before I bought it. She was so nice to give me a sample in a little bottle as well as did the complete look in the store. I really wanted to love this product however it was so cakey. I tried some on my mom and it showed every line. I will stick with the mineral powder.
Great coverage, but highlights flaws
I was lucky enough to be a FAB Ambassador and try bareSkin before anyone else. I was excited at the way it easily covered my redness and felt so light, as if I wasn't wearing makeup, while still giving me flawless coverage. I like how you can build up the coverage, especially on days when I have blemishes. However, now that it's wintertime, the dry skin I experience during the winter is back. This dry flaky skin on my nose is highlighed when I wear bareSkin - it settles into the cracks and does nothing to try and make my skin look good. This never happens when I wear the original powder foundation. So, while I really loved bareSkin this summer, I have to put it away for winter.
Wow! I love this product. I quit using bare minerals a couple years ago - I felt like it made my skin look dry. Since I'm in my 50's I love a foundation that gives me more of a natural dewy glow. This meets all my criteria- natural looking- great coverage- feels like your wearing nothing on your skin,. Makes your skin look perfect. Make sure you allow your moisturizer to sink in 1st. Then apply . The first time I tried I had some sloughing of the makeup when applied. But once I allowed the moisturizer to sink in and give a moment to dry this has not happened since. I bought the brush that is designed for this product and it works fantastic. Super soft bristles and makes the makeup blend beautifully. My skin looks beautiful all day and I almost love it more as the day goes on. I use bare radiance on top for an extra glow. I purchased the bare natural 07. - perfect color- I wore medium being in the foundation powder.
Completely dries out my skin
If I could get my money back, I would.I had been a user of Bare Minerals powders for many years. I bought this Serum foundation along with the Prime Time Primer and Bare Skin Perfecting Veil and a brush for the Serum. I bought this in a salon and it looked fine at first, but within an hour, my skin began to feel burnt and very dry. It shows every wrinkle and dries my skin out completely. I cannot wear it at all, but I cannot get my money back. Although I liked the powdered minerals, I won't buy these products again. Makes my skin feel terrible. I thought people should know about this.
Super super super
My skin looks soft, clean, natural, it really covers my dark spots .
I will never use a different foundation again after trying the bareskin foundation! Like everyone else, I absolutely love it. It's light, gentle on sensitive skin and gives your face a flawless, almost air-brushed appearance. I always get compliments while using this product! I would recommend it to anyone who asked. It is worth every penny, especially because you only really need 1-2 drops for a full days coverage, so it lasts f o r e v e r. LOVE this product!
Long-time foundation hater turned fan
I have never liked foundation. Of any kind. In my middle thirties, it became necessary for me to use foundation everyday due to adult-onset acne and other issues. I came back to Bare Escentuals because I had used the powder foundation in my 20s on rare occasion and I really liked it. I found that a decade or more later had changed my skin's compatibility with powder foundations and they didn't seem to help my acne, but rather made it worse. I tried a number of drugstore brands, all with equally horrific results. The makeup would cake into the blemishes and accentuate them rather than concealing them. On a whim, I decided to try The BareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation, knowing that I had the most success with BareMinerals makeup in the past. During this time, I sought medical advice for the acne, which began to clear up, but my skin is still healing and has some scars. This foundation has changed the liquid makeup game for me. I love it! It doesn't clump up or cake, it covers easily and without feeling like there is a layer of nastiness on my skin. Even at the end of the day, it looks as good as it did when I put it on that morning. I no longer have anxiety about important meetings, social situations with people I don't know, or events like family portraits - none of which I have been able to attend without some anxiety over my appearance and fears that my blemishes will detract from what I have to say. If you have struggled with foundation in the past, this may be what you need! It is smooth without feeling greasy. It covers without feeling heavy. It doesn't dry out or wear off throughout the day. I am NOT a review writer, bad or good, but this product deserves some good word-of-mouth. I use about a pea-sized amount for my full face and neck - and sometimes that's too much!
Best Matching Foundation but Problems with Bottle
This is without a doubt the best foundation that I have used. It matches my skin tone perfectly and blends really well. The only issue I have is with the bottle. Because the foundation is watery and separates when left alone you have to shake the bottle before use. I would say about every other shake what appears to be bubbles occurs and a LOT of foundation starts coming out of the top until the bubble is popped. Sometimes it just pours out of the applicator tip and it seems never ending. You don't need a lot of the foundation, just a drop or two, and the amount that comes out is wasteful. I feel like I lose more makeup with one bubble than I use in a week. Problems aside, it's still my favorite foundation.
Wasteful packaging-Decent coverage
While I like the coverage of this foundation & it's moisturizing qualities, I truly hope Bare Essentials re-designs the packaging. I've lost about 1/4 or more of the foundation alone due to the poor packaging. Even with keeping the foundation upright & out of my make up bag it still manages to leak everywhere because you have to shake to use. It's a shame so much is wasted! I won't be buying this product again.
I absolutely love this product! I didn't intend on switching from the powder foundation to the liquid because in the past I have had issues with liquid foundations. However, after one of the women at the store showed me this foundation I fell in love with it! It is smooth and blends evenly all over for a much more even skin tone. If you are considering this product I would highly suggest going into the store to make a more accurate color match.
Love it Now!
I am a loyal BE user since 1998 and love all things BE, but when I tried this foundation in the Spring I was underwhelmed and didn't love it for several reasons:
1) It does have a weird odor, but it passes quickly.
2) I didn't find the right color.
3) It looked mask like when applied.
Well, I didn't give up. Now that I have found how to make it work, it's FABULOUS! What works for me...
1) I found the right color. Initially I tried the 07 Bare Natural thinking this would be a natural match for me (in the Original Foundation I use medium beige) but this color was just too yellow on my skin. I found that a 50/50 mix of the 03 Bare Linen with the 06 Bare Satin is a perfect match.
2) I put a moisturizer on, or use the Daily Recovery Concentrate first so my skin is slightly moist before application.
3) I prefer using my fingers to apply it. I use the brush to apply it quickly first, but using the warmth of my fingers really helps it to absorb fully and look flawless, not "mask like".
Afterwards I dust mineral veil on and I'm good all day. It feels wonderful, looks great, makes my skin feel great, and is weightless. My skin texture does seem to be smoother and more even.
The odor doesn't seem to be much of an issue now. I'm not sure if I am used to it or it is less now since I have different bottles than what I started with. There have been comments about the applicator which isn't perfect, but hasn't been a horrible issue for me. I have one bottle which seems to be a bit oozy, but the other one is not. The tip does get clogged now and then, but I just use a pin to poke through it.
Regardless of the issues I had initially, I'm really glad I continued to work with it, because it's a super foundation! I don't see myself going back to the Original Foundation because I love this one so much.
Not for all skin tones
Worth learning how to master applying it. Goes on beautifully, gives that slight shine that using just the powder foundation alone takes away. But as a fair skinned beauty, I was disappointed that even the lightest shade available has a super obvious yellow tint to it. It's extremely unnatural on my English / Irish skin tone, and I hope they correct it soon.
I noticed without an hour or two it seems to calm down, and dabbing the powder on helps. But if I wanted to reapply it at the end of a long day to go out in the evening, it's SUPER TAN. No good!
I really love this foundation! It's the only liquid foundation that I've tried that didn't break me out. It has great coverage and with my dry skin, it's great for dry, cold, Montana winters. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it's not quite the right color. I wear bare satin 06 in the summer. I bought bare shell 02 to try since my skin is lighter now that summer's over. But it was too light. So, I mix the two and it's the perfect color. I would love it if BE comes out with a color in between these 2 shades. Something similar to Fairly Medium in the Original Foundation.
less is more
when you shake it, the inside of the cap becomes messy with the foundation which is wasteful. if I use it everyday I get little breakouts. I only use one drop, but two drops is my max if im feeling heavy handed. anything over two drops just looks oily. less is more. with that being said, one drop gives great coverage for me. the product doesn't last all day but it lasts long enough. overall, the foundation is a B and the packaging is a C-.
Favorite Liquid Foundation!
I waited until I had used this product for awhile before I completed my review. This liquid is so light on my skin and makes my skin so beautiful! I prefer a medium to heavy coverage so I use about 4-5 drops and my first bottle lasted for months using it 3-4 times a week. I noticed several people were saying their bottles oozed. I saw this too...air would build up between the bottle opening and the product. I just tapped the bottom of the bottle on the counter top and viola!!!, problem solved. I know some people are still not going to fully enjoy this product but I have found that some of the formulas don't work well with the chemistry of my skin either..... The bottle has to be slightly hard to squeeze or you would spray the product everywhere. I just go by how the product sounds when I shake the bottle to know how empty or full the bottle is. This is the only liquid foundation I will be using for as long as they keep it around!!!
As my skin changed over the years, the mineral powder did not offer the coverage I wanted; it looked pasty and not very flattering. I thought I would have to give up Bare Minerals altogether but along came bareSkin. I LOVE this product and it is perfect for my skin and complexion. That being said, there is one flaw with this product -- in the design of the bottle. An air bubble or something forms and product spouts out of the top. It doesn't matter how gently the bottle is shaken or how it is opened. I will continue to use but am hopeful the bottle designers will take a look at the current design and make improvements.
Best Foundation Purchase
Amazing results! Great coverage and my skin has improved. It does not irritate my skin. Will never buy another type of foundation again. Let it dry before applying bronzer and blush.
I really like this foundation, probably better than the original bare minerals foundation because it seems like it stays on better and lasts longer and gives a flawless finish. I do put on a light layer of B.E. minerals on top as a finishing layer.
Good for light coverage, but package is a disaster
I've been wearing this foundation since the spring and though I love the lightweight feel of it, it does not stay in place very well - even when set with mineral veil. My biggest complaint is about the package. After shaking the bottle well before opening, and applying the first of 4 drops, it sometimes randomly starts oozing product. This is a tremendous waste of product and I have not been able to figure out how to prevent this. The bottle also does not travel well and is prone to leaking inside the cap even when tightly sealed. I won't be purchasing this product again primarily due to bottle/dispenser issues that cause product waste.
I have pretty bad acne and i've been trying to find something for years that would make my skin look clear and flawless. Years and years after trying a LOT of different foundations, i decided to give bareSkin a try and totally fell in love with it!! my skin looks amazing all day and it doesn't wear off like most foundations do. Will continue to use this brand for the rest of my life lol
I have been using Bare Minerals for quite some time now and have loved everything I tired until this product. The first thing I noticed was the TERRIBLE smell!!! I thought I would be able to get over it......but I have not! I have also noticed my face breaking out more than ever before in my life. This product is the only thing that has changed at all in my skin care routine. The third thing is the design of the bottle. No matter how tight you put the top on the bottle leaks (maybe mine is defective?) but it wastes a ton of product not to mention makes a terrible mess. Overall I feel like between buying the brush and this product it was a big waste of money! Im really disappointed.
Wonderful foundation with a learning curve
I really enjoy this foundation and just like the original powder foundation, there is a learning curve to using this. It took some time to get used to, but with practice I think it's a great product. Yes, it does feel a little oily by itself, but with the Perfecting Mineral Veil it sets to a fresh and long-lasting natural even base. It evens out my skin and stays all day, even through work. It doesn't settle into fine lines, cause breakouts or leave a line, and it blends very well. I wear the Bare Linen and use 4-5 drops. I would recommend bareSkin, it just takes some getting used to!
Great Product / Terrible Dispenser
I have used and loved Bare Minerals Original Foundation for years. I wanted something a bit lighter. I don't know who could ever use a single drop to "lightly" cover their entire face as I need quite a few shakes of the bottle to get even coverage. I love the feel of it; light, silky and blends well using the special brush and fingertips. It has a pleasant dewy finish when topped off with Mineral Veil. To me it smells like make up not perfume, and the scent doesn't bother me.
I HATE the bottle. It's hard, colored plastic so: 1.) I can't see how much I have 2.) makes shaking it out difficult and very messy, and 3.) it randomly oozes a lot of product. I've already lost days worth of makeup having it randomly belch out big gobs of fluid that I have to wipe off and toss.
I will continue to use and purchase this. I don't understand why they would spend so much time and money formulating a great product then put it in a stupid, dysfunctional bottle.
Okay, So i was off the bare minerals market for a while...until they came out with this liquid foundation...I honestly have nothing but positive reviews on this product. I did have issues with it leaking out of the cap at the top while I shook it until a quick fix I took the cap off and put my finger over the hole and shook. At first I put it on and was like whoa this is too yellow for me..but then gave it a couple of mins as it settled on my face went to dinner and came home and it was perfectly matched still. The key for flawless look for me is to make sure that the bottle is shook up for about one min really well and that my face is well moisturized and primed with primer. Note that this product if not shaken up well it wont provide that flawless look so pay attention to the shake well part on the back of the bottle I know from personal experience when i shook it up half way and put it on it looked very dry and i didn't use enough moisturizer and primer..I am number 12 and my tan is starting to fade but i feel when i put it on its color blends well with my skin...I do warn you if you like a matte finish this probably isn't the thing for you as it gives you that satin/natural look which I love during the colder months this makes you look more healthy and alive. I have had ZERO issues with breakouts with using this if anything it has helped my skin along with the combination of using Proactiv Plus
I usually love anything from Bare Minerals, but after receiving a sample of this foundation, I was disappointed. I found that after shaking the bottle it came out watery with bubbles of color. When I did get foundation, after wearing it on my normal skin I found that it made it look greasy and oily with only a few hours after application. I will not be purchasing this product to say the least.
