Faux Tan Body Sunless Tanner
Don't waste your money!
Do yourself a favor and buy self tanner at your local drug store instead. It's very obvious a few hours later if you miss a spot. Also, when you're applying it your hands get really orange! It also gives your skin a little bit of a shimmery look (so unnatural!). This stuff is absolutely horrible! Do not use it!
Faux Tan Body Sunless Tanner
I bought this sunless tanner because I was frustrated at my lack of color now that Fall is starting up. I was a little nervous, because of the mixed reviews, but I love it! The amber color was a little scary, but it does really help to see where you apply it. It has given me a great color. I especially love how I can apply it to freshly shaved legs and there was no irritation! (I always get bumps on my legs when I apply lotions/creams too soon). This was a big seller for me.
Once you apply and get the color you want, it lasts about a week before you need to apply again.
Tip: Exfoliate your skin before applying!
Using a loofa will do the trick, but it helps prep your skin to be able to absorb all the beautiful color, and will make your tan last longer.
Tip: Use latex/rubber gloves to apply it for a more even color!
I use latex/rubber gloves when applying it because when I first started using it (and I rubbed it in with my bare hands) my palms would absorb a lot of the product, not only staining them, but I had to use more in order to get it on the rest of my body. It also took a little bit of scrubbing to get it all off my palms. Now, when I use the latex gloves, it spreads more evenly, doesn't discolor my palms, and allows me to use more of the product.
I use this in conjunction with the Faux Tan Face Gradual Glow Sunless Tanner.
NEVER AGAIN !!!!!
I wish I had found the reviews listed below before I purchased my trusted product three day before my wedding. I have very fair skin and after many years of trying every product out there I found this one. I have used it for years! Last year my guy bought me four bottles and that is what I have been using. I bought my LAST bottle to use before my wedding so I would have a beautiful tan while in my strapless gown. Only to watch my tan wash off and go down the drain two hours before my wedding! Can’t reapply because it will rub off on my gown… So I got to be all white and blotchy for my wedding… Perfect! NEVER AGAIN
the best i've used!
I've tried many many sunless tanners and this is the ONLY one that works for me! It smells great, goes on very easy and lasts a few days before I need to reapply. Yesterday I received compliments from some ladies. They complemented me on my tan and I couldn't help but share that it was from a bottle! Told them to check out Bare Minerals website to find it. I always exfoliate first, use a good moisturizer, put on latex gloves and apply the tanner. It dries quickly and smells so much better than the others I've used. You won't go wrong with this tanner!!
Don't use the brush with this one!
I had been using the original Faux Tan self-tanner for over two years and was obsessed. It was the only self-tanner that never streaked on my very fair skin when I used the brush to apply it. Well, I decided to try this new version due to the price point and paraben-free formula. I used the brush to apply it and had a very difficult time spreading it on my skin. The bronzer in it would ball up in small sticky clumps no matter how I brushed it on. After I took a shower the next morning, I had a weird uneven tone all over my arms and stomach, not really streaks but just subtle lighter and darker spots. I was so upset!!! It just looked weird - like someone had thrown dirt on me or something. Thought I had wasted my money until I applied it the next day on my back using a hand towel tied to a large spatula with a hairband (my make-shift back applicator). It went on so smoothly!!!! I used the same thing to apply it all over and it looked just as perfect as the original. I just wish I would have known before buying a brand new brush with it!
Thankful for this product!
I am a very fair skinned young woman and I am careful as to how I treat my skin. I am certainly not laying out in the sun anymore, due to skin cancer at the age of 16 b/c of the sun and tanning beds. I have used the Faux Tan in the past, and have now bought the new and improved Faux Tan Body Sunless Tanner. I am very pleased with the results. Tip: Kroger brand vinyl disposable gloves will flawlessly apply the tanner on without any streaks or discoloration (trust me)! You will really benefit by using (only) these gloves, because I've tried another type, and these are wonderful. So HAPPY and so proud of my gorgeous tan! I have had guys look at me in a great way, while at the pool the other day =). I love this healthy version of an awesome tan!
I'm not sure why so many people are giving the new formula a bad rap. Its sooo much better than the first one minus the parabens! The smell is not great but the color is natural. I think people need to remember to exfoliate first, but don't believe the negative reviews its great! Natural looking! By far the best self tanner I've ever used and i've tried over 20. Price went up $4 a bottle, boo to that.
MISS THE ORIGINAL
WHY DID THEY HAVE TO REINVENT THE WHEEL- THE ORIGINAL WAS GREAT! IT TOOK A LONG TIME TO FIND THE PERFECT TANNING PRODUCT THAT WAS NATURAL LOOKING & AFFORDABLE. IT WAS A "MUST HAVE" PRODUCT IN MY BOOK OF BEAUTY SECRETS. VERY DISAPPOINTING- PLEASE BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL......
great self tanner
I have used a lot of self tanners over the years and none of them seemed to work. They would be streaky or blotchy or turn orange. This one doesn't, It looks perfectly natural. It is a nice light brown and looks like you have been out it the sun. Be sure to exfoliate before applying and you will have a very natural looking tan. I love all BE but this is one of my faves for summer.
Not as good as original, but better then most.
After finding out the new formula was paraben free I was very excited to try it but nervous that it would be different. While the new one is still a good sunless tanner, it is NOT as good as the original. I've found that it comes out a bit streaky and not as uniform or easy to apply as the original. I've been using the original formula for years and after trying this new product, I was very disappointed but will continue to use it until I find a better product.
Original product was 5 stars and sunless tanning perfection in a bottle. Hoping bareescentuals continues to improve this new formula.
JUST AS GREAT!!!
I just bought and tried this today, however, I was skeptical because of reading the reviews. I loved the original, so I figured give it a shot! I am very fair, and after a rough winter, I need some life back into my skin color. It is hard for me to get that nice summer glow without actually getting it from the damaging sun. All the other products I have tried leave me orange and streaky. FAUX TAN BODY SUNLESS TANNER is just as wonderful as the first one that I fell in love with last spring! I love the smell, the color, it works amazing! Thank you so much for an incredible product, this is by far the best sunless tanner out there! If you liked the previous version, you will be just as happy with this new one!!!!
Miss the old formula
I have to agree with the others that this does not give the same dark bronze tan color like the old formula. It does spread easily and doesn't have a strong odor but I when I shower the next morning I'm left with no color.
I wasn't aware that this tanner would hardly show a tan at all. I might as well just use a normal body lotion because it basically has the same effect, except without the strong smell. I also have the face one and my face hardly gets any colour off it and I have to work super quick or ill get dots of tan on my face from it setting too soon. The size of the bottle is also ridiculously small so its not like it would last awhile, when I want to tan I want to tan everywhere because I want an even tan for the summer but yeah this stuff would hardly last me any time and what's the point when the result isn't even noticeable?
Miss the old product....
I have LOVED all BM products for years, and have not been disappointed until last week when I purchased a new bottle of the new Faux Tan. It still gave me the great color but did leave a few streaks and spots and the smell is now awful it's just like every other self-tanner on the market. Highly disappointed with the new smell; I'm glad that you have made it paraben free but please find a way to get rid of the stinky smell!!
I am so upset that they changed the formula of this!!!!! Yes, its great that there are no longer parabens in it but the new product is totally different form the old faux tan, which was my favourite self tanner of all time!! It was beyond perfect and looked SO perfect right from when you first applied it, it gave a beautiful dark golden color and developed into an even better tan. The texture of the new stuff is so bad. It doesnt go on with good brown coverage like the old one, it goes on green and feels really thick on my skin, and doesnt really have any initial color other than a green tint. Ugh! And the end result is nowhere near as good as the old one!! I am literally so sad the old one is gone i have searched every corner of the internet to find old bottles i can buy but no luck especially in canada. I would pay any amount of money for a bottle of the old formula i dont know what i am going to do without it!!!!!!!!!
I love love love the color of this tanner!! In the loose minerals, I wear golden fair and fairly light when I have no tan at all. I don't want to go to the tanning bed all the time.
What this does for me?..... I use it on my chest, hands and feet and it looks like I have a tan when that's all that is seen. The girl in the boutique that showed it to me told me to use it with a buffing brush. I put it in a small dish and dot it on my skin, then buff in the circular pattern. It is awesome!! The color is the same color I am when I get UV tan, which is unbelievable! I also use the face formula and just buff it across my cheeks, nose and forehead because that's where I always get the UV rays naturally. Using the brush makes it much more even, plus there is no hand washing and it never makes the bristles hard. This is the first year that I have had a tan this early with no UV and I look like I do after I've been in the sun. When I do get in the sun, I will use this to even it out and prolong it, how can I go wrong?
The only reason I left off the last star is because I do have trouble with the smell, but i think that is my skin chemistry. The smell is good out of the bottle, I use it at night so on my skin, it smells like all other tanners and wakes me up all night. So I really think it's my own chemistry that mixes with it. Otherwise - 5 stars!
(Also, I am very acne prone and neither one of the body or face formula has broke me out at all)
I miss the old Faux Tan :(
I searched for years to find the perfect Faux Tan that wasn't tested on animals, and fell in love with BM's old Faux Tan. When I saw they made a new paraben free formula, I couldn't wait to try it. Unfortunately, the new one is terrible for my fair skin. It was streaky, too dark and not gradual at all. I had to painfully scrub for 5 minutes to get the dark brown stain from my hands, and I just gave up and hid my legs for a week until the streaky stains could be blended away with my old Faux Tan. I ran back to return it and bought every last bottle of the old Faux Tan that they had in the store, which I will be hoarding until I find another gradual tanner from a different brand because the saleswoman told me it's being discontinued :( I'm a loyal BM girl and this is the only time I've ever been let down by one of their products. Maybe it looks less streaky on girls who aren't so fair-skinned... but aren't the fair girls the ones who crave a self tanner the most?? The old Faux Tan was completely fool proof, I could slap it on and never go wrong. How could BM miss the mark when they already had it perfect? I will say at least it was a true bronze and not orange. Please bring back the old Faux Tan... just without the parabens :)
Being of Filipino heritage I normally have good color to my skin, but this year I wanted to get a head start on a deep tan color before going on vacation. I have never used a faux tanner before but my husband has and the smells have been horrible so I was a little apprehensive in getting this but, since I am a hugh fan of the Bare Minerals line I thought I would give it a try.
Today is the first day I am using it and after following the instructions I applied it and to my amazement, the smell is very pleasant, nothing at all like I expected and definitely nothing like any of the other ones my hubby has used.
I can’t wait to see what the color results will be, but I am loving it already if only for the smell and the way it makes my skin feel...a smooth and silky touch.
Thank you BM for this and all of your other great products.
Paraben Free whoo hoo!
I agree with a previous review that I am so glad to see that this is now paraben free. I have a large bottle that I no longer use because I discovered that it contained parabens! Looking forward to trying the faux tan face! Thank you Leslie!
Newer is not always Better
I have used Faux Tan forever and the previous version is better when it comes to spreading so now I am noticing I miss areas =( and have to fix them later. The new dries too/disappears toooo quickly as your spreading it on and I do not see any worthy improvement to have changed it. The brand is Still the best line of sunless tanner but I am comparing the 2.
First self tanner I've ever used that has NO SMELL!! And it goes on more of an olive color so it's more of a believable natural tan but definitely make sure to wash your hands really really well after so you don't get discoloration on your palms. Put it on this morning, ran around all day watching the kid, went to happy hour and it literally had no rub off ( and that's with a white shirt btw ). Gives a really beautiful tan that makes you look like you've spent a week at the beach. I think as the weather gets warmer I may put on a second coat but for March it's perfect. I've tried tons of other brands but I can already tell this is the best and a little goes a long way. ** Btw took about 10-15 minutes to dry
I've got two full deluxe-size bottles of the old stuff on my bathroom shelf. Haven't been able to bring myself to use it once I discovered parabens in the list of ingredients. I am SO GEEKED for this new formula!!! Good job, BE!
