Q & A

Rated 2.8 out of 5 by 80 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Shedding This is my third brush and every time after 6/8 months it starts shedding. I went to the Tuttle Mall and the sales wasn't very helpful at all and wasn't willing to replace the brush. She said the brush needs cleaned and I told her I clean it once a month with your clearer. I like the brush needs to be improved so it doesn't keep shedding. Or at lease it you don't replace the brush at lease give a 50% off. 10/18/2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Horrible Brush I've been through 4 of these brushes since the liquid foundation came out. You can only use a brush with this foundation or it doesn't go on correctly and you will waste tons of product. This brush does the job until you try to clean it. It is ridiculously difficult to clean and you really need to get brushes clean when using liquid foundation. Bristles fall out every single time and the brush will eventually fall apart completely. It doesn't matter how gentle you are or what brush cleaner you use. I've tried all the tricks the sales ladies have suggested and nothing works! I used to avoid cleaning it because of this! I'm using a different brush per their suggestion but it doesn't work as well. I have a different brush from you that is still in great shape after 6 years so this brush must just be poorly designed. I'm ready to quit using the liquid completely because of this brush which is a shame because it is the only foundation that works with my extremely fair skin. Please redesign this awful brush before you lose a 10 year customer!!! After 4 of these, I've had it!!! 10/09/2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Needs Imrpovement I loved this brush when I first received it. Application was flawless and it felt great on my skin. I really loved the design of the brush. I washed it once, no problems though it did take a few more rinses than I usually do to get it clean. The SECOND time I washed it the brush hairs started falling out. Now they are falling out in clumps, I'm still attempting to use the brush however the application is very messy. It leaves lines of foundation and brush hairs all over my face. Any one have any brush alternatives? 09/15/2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Worst Brush I've ever bought do not buy this brush, you would be better off buying a brush from covergirl! It sheds constantly and doesn't even apply makeup evenly and the brush isn't soft on your skin. The main issue is the fact that it sheds SO MUCH everywhere and gets stuck all over your face so you have to pick the pieces off your face after applying. 09/02/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Brush Ever! I bought this brush a couple of months ago, but didn't get around to using it until yesterday. Big mistake. This brush is unbelievable. My Complexion Rescue glided on like I was using an air brush. Perfect. I didn't have to retouch a single spot. And, because it went on perfectly, it saved a lot of time. If you wear any kind of liquid foundation, you have to get this brush. 09/01/2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Horrible I have used bare minerals for 15 years and love the products as well as brushes. Over the last 4 years or so it seems like the brush quality has gone down. This brush in particular is by far the worse brush I have ever owned. It is Dollar Tree quality. Of it didn't take so much effort to return a brush I would be returning this one...... 08/26/2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Terrible shedding :( I loved this brush when I first bought it. After a few weeks it began to shed and fall apart. It has completely lost its shape. 07/26/2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Brush lost shape after cleaning I really liked the design and concept of this brush. After several months of use, I decided that it was time to clean the brush. After cleaning the outer layer of bristles started to fall out. Now all of the outer layer is pulling out so I can not use the well I have to put the makeup on the outer layer. 07/15/2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor poor quality This brush began to shed after the first time I washed it. It leaves bristles all over my face and sink. So do not waste your money on this brush! I was very disappointed in a brush that costs 28 dollars that the brush would shed so profusely. 07/06/2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Terrible brush A great idea for a brush with the well in the middle but cheaply made. Sheds terribly bad. Leaves brush hairs all over my face. Not good at all... 06/19/2016

Very concerned that this expensive brush is going to fall apart after I wash it based on the reviews I've seen here. What to do?

Answer:
I washed mine very carefully using the Bare Minerals brush cleaner, making sure to keep the brush pointing down so water would not gather in the top. I never saw a single bristle fall out and the brush dried every bit as nicely as when infirst got it.

Answer:
I use the Bare Minerals brush cleanser and follow their directions to a "T." I make sure to keep the bristles pointing down so as not to gather water in the metal collar. I have never had a problem using this routine.

Answer:
I use Well-Cared For, perhaps a bit more than the usual "dime-sized" amount recommended, and rinse about 5-6 times. It is a bit harder to clean than the other brushes designed for original, matte, or READY formulas, and for this reason I would recommend cleaning it twice to three times as often.

I am using the Perfecting Face Brush with the bareSkin Foundation and washing it once a week with the Well-Cared For Brush Shampoo. Whenever I wash it, I tend to repeat the wash about 7 times and there is still excess foundation coming out. Do you have any tips for cleaning the brush? Will washing it twice a week wear out the brush? Thanks!

Answer:
The last time I washed mine, it took about five rinses to get the foundation out. It's possible you're using too much foundation, though the complaint that the brush is hard to clean is rather common from other reviews I have read online. You shouldn't need to wash it twice a week (once a week should be plenty).

Answer:
It sounds to me like you may be using too much foundation. I apply a small amount (only about 2 drops total) and it is always much more than enough. It also may be that you sit the brush with the head facing upwards quickly after using your foundation. That may be causing it to run down into the base of the brush. I only wash my brushes about once a week, so I'm not sure if any more than that would be harmful, but since you're using the nice brush shampoo, I don't think that it would hurt.

Answer:
There is a really helpful video about this posted under the Learn/Videos tab on this site. You can watch that of course, or here is the summary: wash it like any other make up brush, using brush shampoo (like the one from BM) or baby shampoo. Either way, it is definitely a good idea to wash your brushes so they stay in the best condition!

Answer:
Same as every other brush, just more often! I have been washing mine about every 7-10 days. Just run the bristles under warm water and use brush shampoo to clean out until water runs clear. Be sure to hold bristles down so water doesnt get into the handle and lay flat to dry. Because the brush is synthetic, it does take a bit longer to dry.
