Q & A

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 199 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love this Foundation!! I have been using this foundation for about 4 to 5 years now and I cannot express how much I love it!! I Love how this foundation is so easy to use and I find it is good for all ages. I have tried so many different kinds of foundation but I always end up back with this Matte powder. I absolutely love how this foundation fills on your face, rather other products can make your face feel like the foundation is caked on. This foundation fills like you don't have anything on and makes your skin feel and look great!!! I have would definitely recommend this to a friend and will be most definitely be repurchasing this product every time I run out! 01/06/2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect I love this foundation. It looks natural and doesn't irritate my skin. 12/20/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Must-have This is my faithful standby. Terrific coverage with a light, natural look. Easy solution for my mild rosacea, at home or on the go. 12/15/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it Very easy to apply and stays on for a long time. I love it. 12/12/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it! Good for my oily skin, medium coverage and also convenient in bag if I bring it to-go. Love! 12/11/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great foundation I used this foundation a couple years ago because I felt I had oily skin. I got compliments on my skin/makeup when I wore this. I used the BareSkin for a bit by itself and am now layering the two. Even together my face is not caked on or unnatural-looking. 12/10/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by I will use no other foundation. I've worn a lot of makeup in my time but NOTHING feels as great as Bare Minerals! No clogged pores feeling or paint appearance and equally important, no smell. 11/28/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Love this product, perfect shade , hardly can feel it on my skin but always looks wonderful, very light weight. 11/10/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product has great features Great coverage and light weight. The rite shade works wonders 11/05/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Best Foundation I am a makeup girl...Who doesn't like to look beautiful??? I have tried EVERYTHING from cheap to expensive. This stuff is AMAZING!! Not that the Original foundation isn't good but, I like this stuff so much better. The Original lets through a little bit of shine. The matte does not. I will only buy the Matte and as I would rather spend the money on the Matte than on the larger (once yearly) Original. I recently wrote a letter to Customer Service because I think not making and offering customers the Matte foundation available in the (once yearly) size is doing BM customers who prefer the Matte, a total disservice. By reading the reviews, I can see some loyalty out there for those of us who prefer the Matte over the Original foundation. So, being a very loyal BM customer and they have to approve this letter, I think they should give us Matte customers a bigger size like they do the Original foundation. Thank you 10/31/2016

I want to open the plastic casing that holds the matte powder foundation. It says to "lift the sifter off". How do I do that? I have tried everything and can't open it!!! I end up wasting foundation because I can't get the last bit out.

Answer:
You have to use a screwdriver, push it under and pop it off. But that does, really nothing. You're still left with the same tiny holes and can't get the foundation out. To really do that, requires an entire toolbox - and you'll probably hurt yourself and break the plastic trying. Speaking from experience. Just spend 30 minutes shaking that last bit out. It's really the only way. Since this is the only bad thing about this wonderful foundation, I've learned to deal with it. But if they would improve the container... (hint hint) that would be much appreciated.

Answer:
To get the last bit of foundation out, turn the container over and pry the bottom off with a butter knife. Then you can either use the last bit of it or put what's left in the new container. Make sure you snap the bottom back on the new foundation all the way around so it stays sealed.

Answer:
For a long time I had this problem too, here's how to do it. Get a pair of flat ended tweezers, on the bottom of the foundation you will notice there is a plastic plug. Use your tweezers on the inner most circle of this plug and gently pry it upward. It's best to work around the entire canister to get the plug lifted. Once removed you can use every bit of foundation and simply push the plug back in place so you do not lose any foundation. Hope this helped!

Answer:
Basically you want to turn your container upside down. You should see the color name of your product on a clear circular little lid... I usually use some flat headed tweezers and I click it upwards, just like a paint can lid. There you have it now you can use the rest of your product! Hope I helped!

Answer:
I am also 58 I would recommend the luminous ( original)since you have normal skin. I have oily skin so I use the matte version. I get very good results when using a primer & find it absolutely does not settle in my wrinkles like other make-ups. As far as what shade it's hard to say just be aware the actual product is lighter than it appears on-line. I ordered based on the images but ended up going to Sephora to get color matched, if this is not possible for you I would call customer service they are helpful maybe if you can think of a famous movie star whose skin color most matches yours they can recommend the right shade for you. Hopes this helps.

I've never had this with any other make-up foundation and I have used the same liquid primer for almost 10 years now. I love the way this product makes the rest of my skin look and feel but it is so frustrating and embarrassing to deal with. Also, I do not have the gathering of make-up in my smile lines when I simply wear a primer foundation so I know it has to be the matte finish that is causing this issue. Thank you in advance BM.

Answer:
Powder foundations just tend to do this. I too have that happen in between my eye brows in my lines. I have found using the normal bare minerals primer vs oil control primer is better. I also have started to use the correcting concealer and this helps keep the make up in place. I went to school for hair/make up and I was taught the proper way to wear any foundation is primer, liquid foundation, concealer and then set it with a powder foundation. Maybe give the concealer a try?

Answer:
Hi! I tried the Matte foundation and ran into the same problem. I think the ingredient causing this is the silica, as the other foundations that I've used with this ingredient tend to be pretty cakey. However, I don't have this problem at all when using BM's Original foundation. It actually makes my skin look younger, as it's more nourishing and luminous (in my opinion). I also use the mineral veil at the end to get more of a matte finish. Good luck to you!

im a warm tan powders and have tried bare skin and complexion rescue. honestly unless you want to use multiple items , there isn't a shade that matches. i tried bare walnut and turned out really paste-y even though it looked like it would match. the only thing i can say is to maybe take a chance on espresso or bare mocha since they're the only 2 shades left. one of them may work

I made the switch to bare minerals because of my own acne issues, it is definitely worth it for helping to prevent acne. Serious word of advice though would to bring her in to a boutique so they can show her just how little of the make up she needs (it's free). Otherwise she may load it on and you will be broke within a few months!

Answer:
really any age! Perfect for pre-teens and adults. This foundation doesn't have any harsh ingredients in it that can cause acne like some drugstore foundations. Your skin actually changes a lot with this makeup. It's smoother, softer, and doesn't clog your pores. The mineral veil really seals in the powder foundation. It absorbs oil and it's great to have if you get oily throughout the day.

Answer:
Absolutely it is safe for them to use. I dont recommend it at all for though. Its very gentle on the skin but it is not great for acne. I have bad bright red acne sometimes cysts. It covers but looks very unnatural and cakey if you need quite a bit of coverage. I suggest if you do purchase it to make sure to use primer and some form of green cream to reduce the redness. I find using a concealer specifically on the bumps helps too.

Answer:
I started using makeup in 6th grade at age 12 and even though I am still in my teens, this makeup is one of the best I have used (and I have tried a lot).
It feels and looks natural and I have many allergies and sensitive skin.
Their finishing powder is also light and great.
No matter what age this is a great makeup brand and better than a lot of those heavier and less natural foundations out there.

Your best bet is to walk into a store and ask the employees. They will match your perfect shade and they will do it all for free! They are super helpful, but of course they are salespeople, so just know what you're going in for and draw the line at that if they start to offer more.

Answer:
Hi Cammie! I run into the same problem as Summer ends. I have yet to find the perfect shade down from medium beige that isn't too light, so what I do is buy Fairly Light and mix in small amounts of Medium Beige until I get the desired result. I like being able to control the color but do wish there were more shade options for lighter skin tones with neutral undertones. Good luck to you!

I have found the shades to be the same. I wore Golden Tan in the Original for years and I switched to Matte about a year ago. The color is still a perfect match, but now I don't have that super skinny glisten when my skin gets oily. It has a more natural dewy look after 2 hours.

Answer:
Yes I believe so! The Matte may be a bit darker but it is hardly noticeable! When I went to get my shade match in the store the artist tried on both and told me that they look the same on me. (Medium Beige) The only real big difference is the finish between Matte and Illuminated.

Answer:
Yes, they are the same color, with Mattes just not having a that "glowy" look (from the mica in the Original). The Matte may be a teeeennnyy shade darker, but not enough to need a whole new shade.

Hope this helps!
