Q & A

bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 - null 4.1 5 476 478
Love it! Love this product! Used to use the powder, but I wanted a liquid as it blends better. Several times while I was wearing this product I've had compliments such as "Your skin is so naturally beautiful!" (Little did they know I was wearing makeup!). It really does not look cakey, looks natural and always gives me a glow! Definitely recommend this. But make sure to shake it before applying!!! The serum separates from the color in the container and what looks like oil will come out if you don't shake it. 03/25/2015
LOVE THIS PRODUCT I am 64 years old African American woman with aging sensitive skin. Love this product goes on very well. I have some rosacea issues and this product covers the redness quite well without irritation. I am on my second bottle and will purchase a third. Cost effective, I use daily and this foundation last approximately 3 1/2 to 4 months, depending on the coverage you desire. The color matches my skin tone perfectly bare tan 13. I don't notice a smell as some reviewers indicated. There is a learning curve as well. The trick is to shake the bottle very well, keep in a cooler place and store up right in your cosmetic storage container or you will waste foundation especially towards the ending of the product as the foundation will ooze out rapidly 03/25/2015
Good product, terrible bottle design I love this foundation. It goes on great, has great coverage and is easy to use. BUT I waste A LOT! When I tip the bottle to put a drop or 2 on the brush, I get 3, 4, 5, or more. Even when I tip the bottle back over, foundation keeps coming out. I would not recommend this until the bottle is redesigned. 03/22/2015
Best Foundation! I bought this product as a recommendation from a friend. I was frustrated with my previous foundation because it did not look natural in daylight. I have redness and need full coverage. It covers all my redness and looks natural at same time. I also love the applicator. 03/21/2015
love/hate the only thing I STRONGLY dislike about this product is the smell. I'm not sure if my bottle was defective or what but the scent is nauseating. I can't wait to take it off at night because it makes me feel so sick throughout the day. I like the coverage and the way it feels on the skin. 03/20/2015
Love it. It has better coverage than the powder. I am 38yr. old and have some age spots it covers them completely. I bought this a couple years ago and it did smell funny. I decided to try it again, and its been improved no smell and less greasy. 03/20/2015
Terrible bottle design I have used Bare Minerals for years and love most products. However, I think this is hard to blend evenly. The major problem and the reason I will not buy it again is the bottle. The foundation gets all over the bottle, never messy and wastes a lot. Please res Design! 03/20/2015
miracle in a bottle! let me start by saying I am 25 years old and I have severe oily skin I would get big oily bumps on my face very very very aggravating. it would take at least two weeks for the oil pump to go away with another one following it .I have tried so many products and nothing has worked I have very sensitive skin, i always give a product 2 weeks to see if it would work for me even if my face breaks out and still have not found anything until now. every time I try something new my face freaks out. I am so thankful that I have tried this product because my face has changed dramatically. I always wondered about bare minerals but was never able to afford it, but I recently i purchased this product, mineralexer, and the matte powder. I am so happy! I couldn't be any more happier with this product. my face hasn't broke out since I've tried it which is unusual because my face breaks out everytime I use something different. my pores are literally, I mean literally smaller almost to where I can not see them. thank you so much for this product I will never stop using it so please never stop making it. for all the women out there who are skeptical about trying this product do yourself a favor and order it. I never knew what type of skin tone I had until I looked up how to figure out what skin tone i am. (I'm a cool tone). SO i got Bare satin, and it's a perfect match which is also unusual. I would always have to mix different shades to get as close to my skin tone as possible. now i do not have to do that. I wished we could post before and after pics.. if we can tell me how to do so and i will. I am thrilled. We all have different sensitivity what works on one person won't work for the other. I feel that this was made just for me and my sensitive skin.. you have got to try this.. it's a miracle in a bottle.. 03/19/2015
Natural looking medium coverage After using Bare Minerals Matte Foundation, I tried this hoping for better and more natural looking coverage. I have uneven skin tone, redness around my nose and mouth, light freckles, and acne scars. Although it does look very natural, the coverage is okay but it isn't quite what I was hoping for. They say you can build coverage, but I've found that it only adds more color, not coverage so then the color match was wrong. It leaves a sticky shiny sheen but that's remedied by setting it with Tarte Smooth Operator Clay Finishing Powder. I'll keep using this but I'll be looking for a concealer that works well with it. 03/18/2015
Very Disappointed! I love Bare Escentuals and have used the powder for years. I was looking forward to the liquid, but ended up throwing it away! The smell was awful...it was greasy (no matter how little I used)...and my skin began to breakout (never had breakouts when young)!!! 03/16/2015

This happens to everyone sometimes! Exfoliation is very important, or else you have dead skin cells just sitting on top of your face. You should exfoliate a few times a week and moisturize as well.

I just recently purchased this product. I have never used Bare Minerals, so I am not sure if that is how it is supposed to look. Maybe the color is to dark. My forehead looked very oily to me and like the make up was caked on.

Sounds like you are applying the product to thick, it only take a LITTLE ..... try applying with a foundation brush instead of the application pad that comes with it.

Hi, I have a coloring comparable to Nicole Richie-- I have dark dark brown eyes and medium-light blonde hair and am of Italian and French descent. Just tried 07 Bare Natural and it was too "white/masky" on me. My undereye discoloration was more apparent too.

My veins definitely are green, so I have a warm undertone, but I never select the right foundation shade. My cheeks have some pink, but my skin looks olive/ gold.

Any shade rcommendtons are so appreciated. I live in the middle of nowhere, so I am unable to be colorprinted.

Thanks in advance.

Can this foundation be successfully applied using the fingertips? I do get tired of all the special brush needs ...I feel this might be a marketing thing to get us to spend more

Soooo... I am going to answer my own question ...I thank you everyone one for their answers - but for those pondering the conflicting views here; I am very happy with finger tip application. It IS even, NOT streaky in the least. I do LOVE this foundation. So my advice to anyone else wondering the very same thing is - if you don't already have the brush & have a limited budget ...but you really wanna try the foundation - try it! Use fingertip application for starters. If you aren't quite happy with that, get the brush when you can afford to. I'm very happy w/o the brush. Sometimes after application I buff my flawless face brush over my face for good measure but really just as an after thought. I honestly don't feel it's necessary.

You can apply with fingertips. However I don't recommend it. If you want a pretty finish use the brush. Bare Minerals always recommends a brush. They started marketing their products with a brush and that's for a reason. 1, you don't waste product and 2 it goes on much easier and more even. Hope this helps!

No i would not recommend using your fingers because since it is a type of foundation that sits on top of your skin and not go into your pores it will probably leave many streaks and not go on evenly. The brush is very expensive, but i do use it all the time. But i feel it would be fine if you use a cheaper brush and it will apply just fine. Hope that helped!

Yes, I use my fingers because the "special brush" starts stinking if you don't clean it after every 1-2 times of using it. Fingertips work fine for me.

I usually buy brushes for my different kinds of BE makeups, but I use my fingertips for this. I think it goes on better and blends well by using my hands.

I would advise against using your finger tips and stick to a brush. I use a flat head powder brush to blend out my foundation which works beautifully with liquid foundations. The "special" brush does not work well especially if you're in a hurry to slap on your makeup.
Stick to a well designed, dense, kabuki or powder brush.

No, it is a separate item. However, if you do not want to buy the brush, I know some people also use their fingers or a makeup sponge.

Brush is sold separately. I've used my fingers to get heavier coverage, but for whole face application the brush is necessary. I haven't tried a regular foundation brush yet, but that might also work.

BareSkin will work great for your dryness. If you need the correct color you must go to place where they sell it and have one of the knowledgeable attendants help you. They have a special hand held machine that can determine the correct tone and color of your unique skin.

The next shade lighter than Bare Natural 07 (a Medium shade with neutral undertones) is Bare Linen 03 (a Light shade with neutral undertones). It doesn't have any red to it. You can warm it up with some bronzer if it is a bit too light.

I absolutely love this foundation, except for the bottle. :( I love that a little goes a long way, but when product randomly oozes out and down the side, wasting DAYS of foundation, it's hard to convince me to purchase again. I haven't been able to figure out what causes it, as it seems random. I've tried shaking less, tried shaking more.... but it's just so frustrating to take off the lid and see foundation pouring down the side uncontrollably. PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS SOMETHING I CAN DO TO PREVENT IT.

I have found that if I shake the bottle by holding the top and bottom, I don't have the leakage problem. If I shake it by holding it in the middle, I have a tendency to squeeze the bottle as I shake. This seems to be where the eruption issue comes from, at least for me. The less pressure put on the sides of the bottle while shaking, the better.

I have had the same problem as you. I have pretty good luck if I open the lid a bit (like opening a soda) close it back up and then shake it lightly and tap the bottom on my vanity a couple times before I open it again. I also hold it at the top and shake it like you would ring a bell instead of shaking it like a can of spray paint.

This is what works for me!
