Q & A

bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 - null 4.2 5 372 372
Good for light coverage, but package is a disaster I've been wearing this foundation since the spring and though I love the lightweight feel of it, it does not stay in place very well - even when set with mineral veil. My biggest complaint is about the package. After shaking the bottle well before opening, and applying the first of 4 drops, it sometimes randomly starts oozing product. This is a tremendous waste of product and I have not been able to figure out how to prevent this. The bottle also does not travel well and is prone to leaking inside the cap even when tightly sealed. I won't be purchasing this product again primarily due to bottle/dispenser issues that cause product waste. 10/28/2014
love it! I have pretty bad acne and i've been trying to find something for years that would make my skin look clear and flawless. Years and years after trying a LOT of different foundations, i decided to give bareSkin a try and totally fell in love with it!! my skin looks amazing all day and it doesn't wear off like most foundations do. Will continue to use this brand for the rest of my life lol 10/27/2014
Brightening Serum I have been using Bare Minerals for quite some time now and have loved everything I tired until this product. The first thing I noticed was the TERRIBLE smell!!! I thought I would be able to get over it......but I have not! I have also noticed my face breaking out more than ever before in my life. This product is the only thing that has changed at all in my skin care routine. The third thing is the design of the bottle. No matter how tight you put the top on the bottle leaks (maybe mine is defective?) but it wastes a ton of product not to mention makes a terrible mess. Overall I feel like between buying the brush and this product it was a big waste of money! Im really disappointed. 10/26/2014
Wonderful foundation with a learning curve I really enjoy this foundation and just like the original powder foundation, there is a learning curve to using this. It took some time to get used to, but with practice I think it's a great product. Yes, it does feel a little oily by itself, but with the Perfecting Mineral Veil it sets to a fresh and long-lasting natural even base. It evens out my skin and stays all day, even through work. It doesn't settle into fine lines, cause breakouts or leave a line, and it blends very well. I wear the Bare Linen and use 4-5 drops. I would recommend bareSkin, it just takes some getting used to! 10/25/2014
Great Product / Terrible Dispenser I have used and loved Bare Minerals Original Foundation for years. I wanted something a bit lighter. I don't know who could ever use a single drop to "lightly" cover their entire face as I need quite a few shakes of the bottle to get even coverage. I love the feel of it; light, silky and blends well using the special brush and fingertips. It has a pleasant dewy finish when topped off with Mineral Veil. To me it smells like make up not perfume, and the scent doesn't bother me. I HATE the bottle. It's hard, colored plastic so: 1.) I can't see how much I have 2.) makes shaking it out difficult and very messy, and 3.) it randomly oozes a lot of product. I've already lost days worth of makeup having it randomly belch out big gobs of fluid that I have to wipe off and toss. I will continue to use and purchase this. I don't understand why they would spend so much time and money formulating a great product then put it in a stupid, dysfunctional bottle. 10/25/2014
Flawless Look Okay, So i was off the bare minerals market for a while...until they came out with this liquid foundation...I honestly have nothing but positive reviews on this product. I did have issues with it leaking out of the cap at the top while I shook it until a quick fix I took the cap off and put my finger over the hole and shook. At first I put it on and was like whoa this is too yellow for me..but then gave it a couple of mins as it settled on my face went to dinner and came home and it was perfectly matched still. The key for flawless look for me is to make sure that the bottle is shook up for about one min really well and that my face is well moisturized and primed with primer. Note that this product if not shaken up well it wont provide that flawless look so pay attention to the shake well part on the back of the bottle I know from personal experience when i shook it up half way and put it on it looked very dry and i didn't use enough moisturizer and primer..I am number 12 and my tan is starting to fade but i feel when i put it on its color blends well with my skin...I do warn you if you like a matte finish this probably isn't the thing for you as it gives you that satin/natural look which I love during the colder months this makes you look more healthy and alive. I have had ZERO issues with breakouts with using this if anything it has helped my skin along with the combination of using Proactiv Plus 10/24/2014
Not Impressed I usually love anything from Bare Minerals, but after receiving a sample of this foundation, I was disappointed. I found that after shaking the bottle it came out watery with bubbles of color. When I did get foundation, after wearing it on my normal skin I found that it made it look greasy and oily with only a few hours after application. I will not be purchasing this product to say the least. 10/23/2014
Serum Foundation and New brush Personally I love the serum/liquid foundation as well as the new brush to add a drop or two if needed. Very light weight on the face as one does not have any foundation on. That is how it feels on my face. I use the product and brush as the information states in a circular motion and what else can I say except this product is liquid GOLD!!!!! Oh yes Bare Minerals, can you add an olive skin tone for us Italians? Thanks for the consideration. 10/23/2014
Finally, a liquid foundation I used to use the Bare Minerals powder foundation but my skin is so dry i couldn't use it in the winter, i love the liquid foundation and i have not noticed a smell like everyone else talks about. 10/22/2014
So surprisingly disappointed. I'm a believer in Bare minerals. Only wear their make up and use their skin care. But, this foundation is just awful. Looks terrible, feels terrible, smells terrible. Back to the drawing board with this one folks. Very expensive waste of money...when you buy the brush as well...have tried many things to try to make it work...nothing but awful!!, 10/21/2014

This foundation is a liquid so it wouldn't stay on the kabuki as well. The kabuki is very absorbent so it would soak up all of the liquid and be very wasteful, plus the application wouldn't work as well. Of course I'd suggest going into the nearest outlet you can find, get matched and ask all your questions there if possible.
Personally I have such a specific color that this is about the only foundation that really matches, and I use it so much I honestly think that its worth buying a new brush if you do choose to get some.

it all depends on your undertones, if you have a moe pinker undertone then try to find something that is fair with pinks. Personally I am that weird in-between when i have slightly yellow, slightly pink undertones and i use the Bare Linen 03 and its incredible, in foundations i am a light. I hope that helps a little :)

I am 59 and need to find a new foundation that won't make my facial wrinkles so obvious. Up until now the only foundation I have found that blends into my face color is Pink 2 by Shishedo (sp?). I am very fair and have pink tones compliments of my red headed dad..lol
I have wasted so much money on liquids, powder foundation, mineral ones and I can no longer afford to waste money as I am disabled and on a fixed income.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
betty

Please shake the bareSkin® Pure Brightening Serum Foundation well for a perfect mix of ingredients. As for the very strong odor, this is not normal. We suggest to check with Ulta regarding their return policy. If they are not able to accommodate you, please call bareMinerals® Customer Care at 1-888-795-4747.

I am a true believer in Bare Minerals. I love this make-up! With that being said I have "complicated skin" its classified as oily, I have mild rosacea so my cheeks tend to be dryer than the rest of my face. I used to use the oil control primer. That didn't seem to work so I went back to the original primer. I just bought the BareSkin foundation got color matched at my local supplier and I bought the brush the whole nine yards. I love the way this foundation feels but accentuates my dry areas and doesn't help with looking seperated on my face after a day. I only use 2 to 3 drops for my whole face for the coverage. I don't know what I am doing wrong it is almost as if it is melting off my face. If i touch my face throughout the day it comes off. ( also I must add that I did get samples of this product before I bought it , it didn't do this with the samples, and i used a different BM brush then the one that they recommended you use with this product) Please HELP !! I hate to waste all this $$$!

I did see a lot of bad reviews from people with problem or sensitive skin. I also noticed the best reviews always mentioned using the BM brush which is why i decided it was necessary to purchase. I have always had a problem with BM smudging off easily. The Urban Decay setting spray works wonders for the bare minerals and maybe it will work for the foundation as well.

I've had my bareskin foundation for a couple of months now and have always shaken it before applying each drop. However, now when I shake it and twist off the cap it appears to be so liquidy that the foundation leaks down the side of the bottle and oozes quickly out the top instead of forming nice individual drops. Any suggestions on how/if this can be remedied? Thanks!

I don't know if someone already answered this question but yes, its going to be liquidy, but it helps with the application. I know i thought that it was weird that it was that oozy, but on the skin it sits incredibly.

Try not to over shake it and after you do hold it back up right before getting your drops so it can move back down the bottle.

Try taking the cap off and keeping your finger on the lid when shaking, then slowly tip the bottle until just a drop come out and be sure to shake very well. I find it is easier that way than to keep the lid on while shaking. A tiny amount always runs over the sides of the top, but I just swipe the brush over it to grab it all, and use that for a little extra coverage on a scar on my neck area.

At the moment I am using bare mineral powder foundation along with the mineral veil which is amazing for my oily skin and doesn't bring me out in spots!! I have tried lots of liquid foundations and they all bring me out In lots of spots but I think the coverage with liquid foundation is so much better than with powder! Do you recommend this for me? I would love to try it but it's a lot of money if It doesn't get along with my skin.

Definitely not. I have oily skin, and this liquid foundation is terrible! It enhances shine (the bad oily kind), and it sinks into pores making them really stand out. Right at first when I put it on, it looks flawless and great. Within 20 minutes it's smudgy, streaky, makes my skin look dry, and fills in my pores (that's the only place I get any "brightening")

I have oily skin, and I absolutely love this! I have acne scarring and some other spots. I just use concealer and then four drops of this (which gives me medium coverage) and my skin looks flawless! It doesn't do the normal liquid foundation, make-you-look-oily-by-noon-thing. I do finish with mineral veil and some days I will touch up after lunch, but that isn't really necessary every day. It usually just dries up the sweat from the walk to and from the car during my lunch hour!

I recommend this for everyone. The girl who did my make-under (where I first used this) also has oily skin and she has had a similar experience. It is definitely worth the investment, if you ask me. And then it only takes 4 drops, too, so this is going to last me FOREVER!

Just one tip: make sure you shake it up well before opening it, because the contents tend to separate if left sitting.

It has been to my knowledge that neither minerals nor SPF are camera friendly, so I believe I already know that answer to this question. But due to those ingredients, will I receive a flashback in photos or would you suggest this for brides? Or you would honestly suggest a professional foundation better suited for photography.

Thank you.

Dear Bride,
You'd be surprised how many makeup artists use Bare Escentuals with the SPF for professional photography! Especially bridal photos! Bare Escentuals makes your skin look soft, smooth, and radiant! You will never look oily, shiny, or sweaty! The color selection is awesome, and can be started with soft, natural colors for day time, and as the evening begins, you can "smoke" your eyes and brighten your lips, dance all night, and look gorgeous in every photo! Both of my daughters, their bridesmaids, and the Moms and Grandmothers had Bare Escentuals applied by professional makeup artists. Even our little flower girls were allowed a touch of lip gloss and clear Radiance was used on their eyelids and cheeks. We all looked so perfect! Many guests noted the "family resemblance", ask if the brides, maids, and Moms were models. Many said the Grandmothers and Moms looked too young to have bridal daughters! Most of all, the brides were radiant, beautiful, and looked so in love! This makeup can't make you look "in love", but since you are, it can enhance that magic glow and help it shine through your eyes, not on you nose and cheeks! Try a practice session with an artist familiar with the products. You won't regret it!

I'm curious for feedback from my fellow Bare Minerals loyal users. I began with Bare Minerals Original formula foundation but upon trying the Ready Foundation I fell in love with the Ready Foundation and use it loyally. I am curious about Bare Skin Brightening Serum but not sure if I will get the same results. So I'd like to know what other Bare Minerals users have found when comparing the two.

There is no better. It really depends what exactly Your looking for. With the Ready foundation it moisterizes and keeps skin moist for people with dry skin to combination and you can layer it to any finish you like from light to heavy. This also has more of a mattified look to it when applying. With the BareSkin Brightning serum foundation you can layer your foundation to whatever finish you prefer however this one seems to have an added plus like the brightening serum if you have dark spots like me you will like this foundation since you will not have to use an addtional brightening serum at night. This foundation will give you a dewy look upon application. All in all if your up to it go to your local boutique and try it out your self to see if you like. I love it!

Hello: I've been a long time original formula foundation user but then switched to the ready foundation when that product came out. While I liked the ready foundation better because it was less messy so for me easier to use, I've always preferred a liquid foundation so you can imagine my excitement when I heard about bareSkin. I purchased the bareSkin when it came out and I can only tell you how much I love it. The results, I think, are way better than the powder. I'm able to control the amount and I think it goes on smoother and the skin feels amazing. The color also matches me better especially when season changes. Before this summer, I used a drop of linen plus a drop of natural (I was between colors), and now that I've had a little bit of sun, I use two drops of natural only. Hope this helps you! All I can say is, go and get a color match (Sephora does a good job) and give it a try.
