READY Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 - null
Smooth, perfect coverage.
I'm kind of a minimalist makeup user, and I prefer a simple application and a natural look. This new foundation is fantastic. It goes on so smoothly that it almost feels like a cream. I use a concealer brush to put a little on the inner corner of my eye, the darker skin under my eye, and sometimes around my nose if there's some redness there, and then I use the flawless face brush to complete my face. The final look isn't at all powdery; just smooth and even and bright. I'm honestly pretty amazed; I didn't think BE could improve so much on it's original foundation formula. Many thanks for a beautiful product that's a pleasure to use!
The Best Foundation!
I love Bare Minerals products in general. The Matte formula in Golden Fair blew me away. I have oily skin, and it was the only foundation I had worn in my life that didn't slide off my face by noon. Just when I thought I couldn't love a foundation more, I ... tried... the... Ready...
My Golden Fair matched me well, but when I got shade matched to the Medium Beige in this formula, it literally looked like my own natural naked skin. My skin looks radiant. The formula is so creamy, it FEELS GOOD to put on your face! I never expected a foundation to "feel good" during the application process.
Also, I do wear Prime Time foundation primer, as I did with the Matte formula as well, but I have noticed another key difference... bye bye oil blotting sheets! While the Matte never slid off my face by noon, I would have to break out an oil blotting sheet for a quick touch-up by then, and I am so over-the-moon that after 20 years of worrying about my face looking like an oil slick, I no longer have to worry about it! I just put the foundation on in the morning, and I can go all day without worrying about oil and shine.
I went on my FAB account and changed my product answer to the one thing you can't live without to foundation, whereas before, I had it as eyeshadow (thanks to the Ready duos and quads). That's how much I love this product :)
I've used the loose foundation for years and every time I stray and try something else, I always go back. Until now. I love this product. Somehow it looks even more natural on my skin. It takes so very little and blends very well. I use the newer precision brush which is amazing with any of the foundations. The brush really pulls it together. I will stray no more.
BE just keeps getting better
My favorite BE consultant demonstrated this new "Ready" foundation. My daughter and I both had our "makeovers"! We love this new product. No "dust", I can better control the coverage, easy to travel with, and the finish is so natural. I seem to be using less product with the Ready foundation. The coverage is perfect for my skin and gives me a flawless look all day. In December, traveled from a cold Ky to a warm Fl, and the Ready foundation worked well in both climates.
Thank you BE! for another great product.
Natural Coverage FINALLY
I have hopped around between a lot of powder foundations but I never found something that I really loved. I've used Pur Minerals, L'Oreal True Match, Benefit Hello Flawless, as well as the Original BareMinerals foundation, I would use them until I ran out but never felt like I had found something I would go back to for another go. Powders either feel heavy to me or disappear after a few hours. Till now! I use a flawless application brush and it gives me very natural finish yet plenty of coverage for my acne prone skin. I would definitely recommend this.
Tricky to use
I was so excited to try this foundation because I thought it would be easy and quick to use, especially on the go. I wish I had known ahead of time that I needed to order it a couple shades darker than what I normally use. I also wish I had known there was a different technique altogether for applying it. I made sure to read the information that came along with it but it did not do a good job of explaining of exactly to use it. Now after having watched the videos that I got by email today I think I have a much better understanding of how to apply. Too bad half of it is already gone and I've been looking like a "baroque lady" as according to my husband for the past month!
The BEST - after learning how to do it right!
I was excited to try this product. When traveling, I prefer using foundation in a compact. Previously I had used another brand of mineral makeup for this purpose, but it really was NOT comparable to Bare Minerals (it felt heavy, it was thick or uneven, it didn't benefit my skin as BM does, etc.) So I'm so glad to have a BM option! I have used the Bare Minerals Original foundation for many years, and I have used the BM Matte foundation in the past year during summer humidity when my combination skin turns more oily. In the Original my shade is Fairly Medium. In the Matte my shade is Fair. I went into a BM Boutique to get shade matched for the READY Foundation, and it turns out I'm a Medium (darker than I had expected). When the makeup artist applied it to my face, I was AMAZED. First, the coverage was absolutely perfect. Stunning. Better than anything I'd ever managed before. Second, I noticed that he only touched the brush to the compact 2-3 times -- he used so little but the results were fantastic!
At home, I was WAY less than impressed. I tried all 3-4 different foundation brushes I already had by Bare Minerals. Didn't work like it did in the boutique. I read online that the brush really matters, so I splurged and got the Precision Face Brush. WOW! WHAT a difference! I applied it as the makeup artist suggested --
(1) Lightly tap brush into compact 1-2 times, tap once lightly [DO NOT SWIRL THE BRUSH!]
(2) Start at the outer edges of the face, and using long strokes, work inwards
(3) Continue using long strokes over the entirety of the face, buffing it and working it onto every part of your face
(4) You can repeat all 3 steps as needed, but I've found that doing step 1 only 2-3 times is more than sufficient for full coverage with the Precision Face Brush
1. The brush is important. Just get one of the two suggested.
2. Do not apply too much. It looks awful. It looks much worse than applying too much BM Original or Matte foundation.
3. Make sure your moisturizer and/or primer are totally soaked in and set before applying foundation -- otherwise the foundation tends to apply unevenly and it's not pretty [Tip: if I'm in a hurry in the morning, one of the first things I do is clean my face and apply moisturizer. A few minutes later I apply primer. I go about getting ready, and come back minutes later to do foundation. This maximizes my use of time and makes sure I don't apply foundation too soon in my rush.]
4. Don't apply as you would apply the loose foundation - No swirling the brush - Don't work from the center outwards if you're using the Precision brush.
5. Get shade matched. You'll probably be surprised.
NOW, the READY Foundation is my absolute favorite. The other day I had more time getting ready and I used my BM Original foundation. After finishing my makeup routine, I really didn't like what I saw. I've gotten so used to the READY, how it applies, the coverage it gives, etc. that it's now my favorite and the Original doesn't compare. The Original applies too thickly for my preference now and/or differs day to day depending on how careful I am when applying it (but the READY always applies the same way, predictably). This is probably just unique to me as a user. And even though I know I have the best shades in each of the foundations (I've gotten shade matched for all 3 kinds in the past 8 months), the READY shade matches me best, followed by the Matte. The READY feels the lightest of the 3, even though all 3 are very light compared to any other makeup brand I've tried (including mineral or organic mineral brands). Finally, I'm convinced that the READY make up will last me a very long time - I need so little to get full coverage.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS FOUNDATION!! THANK YOU BARE MINERALS!!!!!
I love my face!
For many years, I've used the matte mineral foundation. Recently, I visited a boutique just to shade match my winter skin shade. I was recommended to use the Ready foundation in Medium Beige and I love it!
I don't have many spots on my face, but I still love the medium-full coverage that this foundation gives me along with the precision brush. It's light, easy, and you don't even have to use that much to get the flawless look.
To top it off, I use the mineral veil and a little bit of Warmth.
Best makeup product I have EVER used!
I'm a longtime lover of original BE foundation and I wear Matte for my combination skin. I thought that product could never be bested and have said for years that thanks to BE, I'd never put liquid foundation on my face again. But hearing the "buzz" on the new READY, I went to a boutique and got color-matched. I live over an hour away, but it was worth it! Jessica at the Ross Park Mall store in Pittsburgh, PA was very nice and super knowledgeable. She put Prime Time original formula and READY foundation on me, and I sat there absolutely gaping at how great it looked. I'd never used the Primer before, either...ok, I'm lazy! LOL But now that I've tried both, the Primer and READY foundation are my two absolute must-haves in makeup. The improvement over what I already thought was great, natural coverage is astonishing. The long wear is a huge bonus, too -- the READY truly does stay in place and give you that wonderful coverage for much longer. It feels creamy and nourishing, yet not at all shiny, heavy, or greasy. So fast, so easy to apply, feels lovely on. I'm on a budget, but this is worth every penny. I could not be more impressed! Also of note: I wore Fairly Light in the original foundation; I wear Fairly Medium in the READY, and it's perfect. It's quite true that you need to be color-matched.
Not The Best
I got this product because I had heard about all the positive reviews it was getting. i tried on the product in the store to get matched, and it looked good on my skin there so I purchased the product. When I used the foundation at home I noticed that I settled on my pores and just looked terrible. I assumed maybe I was applying it incorrectly, but after looking up how to apply this product online it still didn't help. The original matte foundation is much better.
great foundation to be used
First let me start by saying getting shade matched is the key to loving this product - i wear medium tan in the origional / warm tan in the ready foundation. Second make sure your moisturizer / primer is lightly applied and FULLY DRY before applying the foundation. Third use the new application brush - lightly tap 1 to 2 times in the foundation - apply with long soft strokes. I have dry skin that breaks out easily - this foundation makes my skin moist , but no breakouts. There is a learning curve with this product - but once you get it right - there is no going back. THANKS BE for the best foundation ever.
WOW!! After figuring out which color worked best for me, I really love this foundation. It gives me wonderful coverage. I look completely airbrushed when I'm done. I love the flawless look it gives me. I couldn't ask for anything more. The fact that it is soooo relaxing to apply with the wonderful precision brush, and is no mess compared to the loose, are WONDERFUL added bonuses.
It leaves my face feeling awesome, I don't even know that I'm wearing it. I don't find it drying at all, in fact, quite the opposite. I actually look forward to applying it every day.
Trust me, take the time to find out your true color and the proper application, it will be well worth it. That is the reasoning behind only 4 stars, I was disappointed that it took some trial and error to get the right color since they don't really match the loose powders. But again, it was TOTALLY worth the effort. GREAT FOUNDATION!!
This is by far the best foundation I have ever used. Stays on till I take it off and it is on from 3:15a til 7 or 8 pm or later on the weekends. It is so easy to apply and it covers all my flaws and sun damage! I absolutely love this foundation and I have tried every foundation known to man and nothing is as good as this one! I am buying one for my friend for her birthday!
Compared, analyzed, loved
I had been wearing the Bare minerals Matte Foundation for sometime and when this Ready came out, I was super excited because I knew it would be so much easier. My first experience with the Ready was terrible since I went to a big make-up retailer (I won't put name in to keep from offending people) and they just told me I was the same color that I would be in the matte....this was not true at all! Another thing was she did not explain how to put it on because it's completely different. There is no swirl, tap, buff, it's tap the make-up gently and do long strokes over your face. I gave this make up a second try when they finally got a boutique here in home town and I went to it, had the lady do half my face with the matte make up, and the other half with ready, she handed me the mirror, and WOW! Such a difference....the Ready half looked so much better. Even my husband told me (yep, he was shopping with me in there!) It was also much quicker to get that coverage I want which makes a big difference for me since I just like to roll out of bed and leave to places. I really did like the matte, but the Ready truly suites me skin better. I have learned through the many years of trial and error, you need to find what works best with your skin.
I've used the regular powder foundation for years and loved it . . . but Wow! This foundation covers imperfections even better. It goes smooth as silk and it's even more moisturizing than the standard foundation. It's my new favorite!
Review of READY SPF 20 Foundation
I have been using Bare Minerals for some time and had high hopes for this product but ended up disappointed. I used it for several months as directed with and without primer. In summary it just sat on my skin. It did not blend in well or look natural. Very noticeable in bright light. The loose powder foundation is a better product.
First of all, make sure you get the new Precision brush to use with the product. The buki or flawless face brush will just make a mess with the product. Don't swirl the brush, tap it lightly in to the product. Also, don't buff on, use a sweeping motion. The salespeople didn't really explain this very much, and you WILL make a mess on yourself and waste the product if you don't use it correctly.
I really love the coverage. It's full coverage but very light. However, I would go a shade darker than the original foundation as it goes on a little lighter and you may look pasty.
Overall, I am very pleased and think it's a great addition to the line. I will most likely use this as a "winter" foundation and go back to the original in the summer.
My 1st review
I have been wearing Bare Minerals products for years including the loose powder foundation. I have always had oily skin and loved how these products have not "caked" up on me or emphasized my pores on "those" days! I love the idea of the foundation being in a compact so I did try one and loved it. The color I chose was a little light for me but nothing that my tinted mineral veil couldn't fix up. I used the featherlite brush for application and it seems to give me just enough coverage and not having to deal with "over doing". I gave this just 4 stars because I've only been wearing this for a week but so far I love it. Now I wish BE would do the same with their concealers! I tried their latest concealer and they were awful. I tried all kinds of variations of application and they still did not make me happy. They enlarged my pores and were difficult to apply. I returned them and went back to the loose powder but it sure would be nice if they were also a pressed powder!
If its not broke don't mess with it!!!!
I have been a BE user for at least 10 years . I have gotten my 2 daughters, my daughter-in-law and all my friends to use the foundation. But I am so dissapointed in the NEW Ready spf 20 compact foundation. It cannot compare, as far as I am concerned, to the original and I am considered the "makeup queen". I orginally switched to BE foundation because as I got older I didn't like how the other makeups setteled in the lines and made me look older and I really never could find the right shade and always had to mix two shades to get the right one. I have to admit I sent the first two kits I received back because I really didn't think I was getting the coverage I wanted but finally tried again and BINGO, I have never turned back. I purchased the "NEW" compact foundation, and even talked my daughter into getting it, thinking that it sounded like a great idea. I hate it as does my daughter. The shade is no wear near the original shade that I wear, medium, and it looks thick and cakey. I love the luminosity of the original, that you can really see my skin through the makeup and it gives a glow. The compact foundation is too heavy, and I have tried every way to apply it. I know the reveiws show that some people love it but I really have makeup optional skin and don't like that made up caky makeup look. Going back to the original until they can perfect the compact, which is a really good idea but not product. DDB
Love this foundation!
I am new to BE and was a little skeptical about using a powder formula on my dry skin. I tried the matte formula first and felt it was too cakey and made my skin feel even drier. The BE consultant suggested I try the Ready foundation, and I am so glad I did. It's easy to apply and it lasts far longer than my BB cream. At first I thought it made my skin look too white until I realized I was not used to seeing my skin without all of its blotchiness, redness, and acne scars. My skin feels light and is fully covered. My mom and husband both noticed a difference in my skin immediately. I highly recommend this product.
flawless if you use all of the skin line as a base
I gave it three stars because of the difficulty to color match using one shade.
After initially being color matched to Golden Medium in a bright lit store and then getting home and realizing it was too light and going back to get rematched to Golden Tan and then again going home and realizing it was too dark I decided this had to work. And it works wonders when using the Purely Nourishing Moisturizer Normal to Dry Skin and then applying Prime Time Foundation Primer before applying the Golden Tan and then the Golden Medium I get a flawless dewy look. I usually do these steps on weekends or when I don't have to go to work and I get the most compliments. Although these are more steps than I had to do with the original foundation the application to putting on both ready foundations are faster because I don't have to buff and buff as much.
Overall I would recommend this product if you can truly find your match using one shade.
Ready for READY!!!
I was excited to see that what I was wanting had been created by my favorite brand prior to experimenting with some other stuff. I was never satsified with other brands, and kept thinking I want my Minerals back in compact form! I was looking for a product that was on the natural side and wasn't lose and that didn't give me "cake" face( no liquid for me).. Well I found it this foundation is my new favorite. Color matching is a must as I do use a different color in the Ready then the original and the matte! I don't like heavy coverage, I like a very sheer coverage so I used this with the Flawless application brush and for me it is perfect exactly what I want and not as messy as the loose! I just tapped the brush in and kind of buffed it onto my face! Perfect! I may invest in the precision brush for those days when I want more coverage but other then that ... I can officailly say I seem to have found what I am looking for!
Get matched in person, use Primer and Veil as well
I like this product, it definitely suits my needs. There's a few things you should do to get the best out of this product:
The color families are quite different for this one so absolutely go get matched in person.
You need a primer (any really) and the mineral veil with this one. I have tried to wear it without either and with one or the other and the result was that the product looked funny after several hours.
I wouldn't purchase this one unless you're willing to do all three steps I mentioned. If you are, then enjoy! I certainly am. :-)
Not bad, but...
I thought I would like this better than the loose foundation, but I don't. The loose powder is easier to use and the color matches my skin tone much better. I'm pretty fair skinned and it didn't look as natural. But, it's not a bad product. It just isn't my cup of tea. I'll be going back to my loose powder.
Great idea, terrible product
I LOVED the idea of bareminerals in a pressed powder!! After reading the reviews I was convinced that people were not applying the product correctly, so I decided to give the product a try. I went to the bareminerals store to get color matched and found a shade that blended really well with my skin tone.
The next day I used my PrimeTime primer and then applied Ready with the precision face brush. I only used a little bit of product and applied in a sweeping motion as recommended. After about an hour of wear the powder settled in my pores and looked beyond terrible. It is so unfortunate because I love the idea of the pressed powder but ultimately went back to the original. I really hope those at BE will figure out the problems with this product and come back with something better.
I have to say this new foundation is the best makeup I have ever had on my face in my whole life and I never thought I would say that about makeup. I have used loose Bare Minerals for years because I hate the feel of makeup on my face. I also have combination skin, eczema, and sensitive skin. I have to say if you apply this right it does stay all day. It also doesn't make my skin feel dry or oily. The original Bare Minerals started to irritate my skin and not stay on at all. By lunch time I was ready to wash my face. This kind doesn't feel that way at all and is still there even after my ten hour work day. My skin feels fresh and looks great!!!! You should try this new makeup. I'm so glad I did!!!!!
I had a difficult time trying to select a color. When I first opened the compact I thought it was going to be darker on, but it wears lighter than it looks. I may just get Medium to see how it wears, but this went on very well! I have been reading up on this for weeks and finally decided to just get it. My skin is a bit drier in the winter and it seems since turning 50 my skin has changed. I really like wearing my regualr foundation in Fairly Light-I find myself coming back to Bare Minerals from regular foundations. I tried this in 2008 and didn't think it could get better! My 30 yr old daughter just moved from TX to Germany and she will be trying this too!
This has always been something long awaited for me. I've been dedicated to BareMinerals for about 5 years now and have never looked back. Their foundation has always looked great on my skin and never broken me out, versus liquids which always reacted weird, since my skin tends to be pretty oily. So, needless to say, I've been devoted to the Matte Medium Beige since it came on the market. And when they came out with this... man, was I hooked. Medium works just great, and even though it isn't a "Matte" formula, I don't get that oily (nothing some mineral veil can't take care of!) I think the coverage is AMAZING (way better than the loose powder!) and it stays on throughout the day. Before, I'd come home from a typical day and my makeup was noticeably lighter than when i'd put it on that morning. With this, that is not the case! It stays on great.
My biggest complaint however is the MESS. Oh my goodness. When I bought this, I saw no point in investing in another brush... I'd gotten mine with the starter kit many years back and I loved it to death. However, the first time I put it into the foundation, it went EVERYWHERE. So, a word of a advice, do NOT swirl. You will regret it when you're covered in foundation (trust me... not a pleasant morning). Instead, tap into the pan. It works way better. Then, gently tap and swirl on your face. It gives great coverage. And just like with any BM foundation, a little goes a long way.
Because of the messy nature of this stuff, a lot of product gets wasted... I've had mine about 3 months and I've already hit pan, but luckily the sides are still built up. However, if you follow my tip above, it slows that process down... it just took me a while to figure it out. (;
Overall though, totally recommend! Just be careful!:)
Just put this on for the first time and I absolutely LOVE it and can tell a huge difference in coverage yet not heavy at all. I highly recommend going into a boutique to get your color shade done because it is NOT the same as the loose powder. My color with this is much darker but completely natural looking. Very pleased with this product. Bare Minerals fan for years from skin care to make-up.
