bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 - null
Looked awful on my skin
I don't know what in the world was going on with this foundation, if it was me, how I was applying it, etc. Everytime I put the product on my skin it would look really flaky and the product wouldn't "melt" into my skin. I assumed my skin was dry so I made sure next time to put more moisturizer on, nope. Then I tried a makeup primer, nope. Then I tried using just my fingers instead of the special brush, nope. This just did not look good on me at all. My mother had the same exact experience as me, maybe it's the genes.
Worst foundation I've ever had
I have a pretty normal skin type the can occasionally lean one way or the other. I got this product and I was so excited because I have just always heard good things about are minerals and I loved the idea of a natural looking finish. I got this product and tried it with high hopes that were ruined immediately, the finish looked like there was dry flakes of skin all over my face and looked oily at the same time. Also you have to shake this product well but every time you do half your foundation is all over you. Overall a bad product and I highly recommend never trying.
Not a fan :-(
Unfortunately, after giving this foundation several tries, I am not a fan. I love bareminerals loose foundations and all of their other makeup. In fact, it's the only makeup line I use. So, I wanted to try this out. It sinks into my pores, gets oily on my normal skin type, and actually looks a bit cakey. You can for sure tell I'm wearing foundation. The original and matte foundations are perfection, so this one was a let down.
I have read the reviews and based on my experience, I have no problems with the bottle. Aside from that, I absolutely love the product. The finish is beautiful. I use 2 drops max, so it goes a long way. I love the brush and find that using it is the key to flawless application and coverage. I have used Bare Minerals for a very long time and am so glad you developed this fluid product. I am over 60 and like the dewy finish provided my fluid foundation. This product is gentle for my rosacea and my dermatologist even agreed that it was an excellent brand for those who suffer with this issue. Keep up the good work and research.
Not so much for me.....
I loved the idea of this foundation because the powder foundation has become way too heavy for me. So I bought it and tried it. The coverage was nice, very easy to apply, goes on smooth, but the foundation is so easy transferable onto hands, clothing, etc,. If you accidentally touch your face or have to scratch it, God forbid, it is on your hands/clothes and then on everything else. Plus, it settles into my laugh lines. Maybe it’s because I have combination skin and it doesn't mix well with my skin's chemistry, I don't know. I would have thought the Bare Minerals team would have thought about that when they tested this product. I would have to give it only 2 hearts.
Great coverage but...bottle needs upgrading!
I noticed various reviews from women in my age group (50-60) that we liked the product but the bottle should be either a pump or this should be in a tube. It's messy, leaks and is hard to squeeze just 2 drops at one time. With the cost/value of the product, the bottle really needs to reflect the quality and it does not. It's hard plastic and should be more pliable. Overall the product covers very well but takes a bit of playing with it to get it just right...
I SO LOVE IT
This is the 2nd product I ever owned from Bare Minerals! I love it so much! The foundation is so easy to apply with the brush. I use it together with the Mineral Veil, it is so perfect! as it gives me the flawless coverage and long-wearing. Even if it rains or if you cry, it stays well on the face! I highly recommend it! =)
Not their best
I was really excited to try this product as the Bareminerals mineral foundation/mineral veil/etc are so wonderful, however this product really did not work for me. The coverage was light-medium however this product did not blend easily into my skin despite trying to with and without moisturizer application prior to using the foundation. I also found that it rubbed off rather easily throughout the day and would settle into fine lines I didn't even know I had (I'm 20...) It applied oily but by the end of the day had my skin looking very dry. I will not be repurchasing this product again, I think traditional liquid foundations work better than this serum formulation.
Not for me and my dry skin
First I had a really hard time finding a shade match. I was offered a sample at Ulta and the lighting in the store didn't help much.
I tried the product two ways. One with lotion applied first, and once without. Both days, my skin felt very dry and tight by the end of the day. I see that it has Vitamin C as an ingredient, and historically, I have trouble with skincare products containing Vitamin C.
This product does seem very light weight, has buildable coverage, and seems like it would be great for someone with normal to oily skin.
Love the coverage, hate the bottle
Please redesign the bottle with a pump. Love the coverage but don't have the strength in my hands any more and squeezing it hurts.
LOVE the foundation but hate the bottle. I've purchased twice but won't purchase again until they use a pump. It currently doesn't shake up well and in the end you paste product. Colors are wonderful for a fair complexion.
Really, really wanted to like it.
I am looking for a foundation that will not accentuate my fine lines and wrinkles, but I saw every single fine line and wrinkle. It really settled into them. I am going to try it again with a spine applicator. I tried with the brush recommended...maybe I am just not used to using a brush. I also ordered the wrong color. It is too light. (That's me though, I am terrible at getting it right!). I'll give it a couple more tries. Hopefully, my daughter will like it.
Love the product, hate the bottle
This is a great product. I was excited when a liquid foundation was developed. However the bottle is horrible. The product leaks into lid and oozes out around it despite closing it really tight. If I want to travel with it I have to wrap it in plastic bag so it does get all over my makeup bag which happened the first time I traveled. Then I have to wipe down the bottle before I use it. But this happens even when it sits on my counter. It's a waste of a not so cheap foundation. I thought it was just a flaw in one bottle but it has happened in all bottles I have purchased and to friends who have bought it also.
Please redesign the bottle!
Waste of $
Was so excited for this. After shaking vigorously it came out greasy, oily, and streaky coverage. Attempted at first with a very expensive, high quality brush. Fail. Second attempt using my fingers/sponge. Fail. Terrible smell... Even my boyfriend detected the off putting scent. Also, is difficult to dispense from bottle... All around fail for me. Perhaps other skin types would find this product effective. Like I said, really wanted to love this.
A Must Try
I was a bit hesitant to try the foundation because 1) I have combination oily skin, 2) I once got a really bad breakout with a foundation, and 3) the reviews about the foundation spilling all over. I am really glad I decided to give this foundation a try. I'll first start off saying that I did not have any problems with the foundation leaking. However, the foundation did kinda ooz out of the bottle the first couple of times after I shook it. I just swiped it on my brush and used it so it would not go to waste. After that I did not have any problems with the foundation leaking out of the bottle.
When I first tried it 2 drops were not enough for my face. I had my makeup done by a professional for a wedding and she advised me to always moisturize and let my skin soak it in, and use a primer before applying any type of makeup. After following her advise I noticed that 1 drop was enough for a light coverage and 2 drops was enough for full coverage. Due to my combination oily face I found this product is best for winter and spring season. During the summer I did notice that my face did tend to get oily even after setting it with a powder. I just used blotting face paper and that took care of it. Overall this foundation is perfect for the "no makeup" look and feel.
Coverage flawless, bottle greatly flawed!!
I must admit at first I did not like this liquid foundation. I did not get a demonstration at the store for its application so that may have been the issue. I used it too heavy and the smell of the product was somewhat offensive to me as it smelled oily. Now that I am much better at applying it I really like it. The biggest problem is the bottle it comes in. It is more than a "bit messy". It leaks and gets all over things even when you "click" it closed. It is not the least expensive foundation on the market and I am not very happy about the waste the bottle causes. Let alone the mess to clean up.from the leakage. Forget traveling with it, it is just too messy. Please rethink that bottle and come up with something more appropriate for your product and I will continue to buy it. I find it keeps my skin from drying out if I use it daily.
Just what I have been looking for
I am a lover of liquid foundation and have tried multiple expensive foundations. I absolutely love the coverage of this foundation. It makes my skin look perfect. The brush for this foundation really does it justice. It also stays on all day long unlike most foundations. It is also a very reasonable price.
This is the best foundation I have ever used. Using the brush I apply two scant drops for very good coverage. I have large pores and acne scars but this foundation evens everything out. I use the concealer for a sun spot and broken capilary and voila, the best my skin has looked in years. I use the Exfoliating Treatment Cleanser regularly to help keep my skin texture even and that helps the bareSkin cover flawlessly. bareSkin does not negatively affect my oily T-zone and is perfect for the remainder of my skin which tends toward dry. I admit, I was skeptical at first and not used to the "dewy" look but I really embrace it now - so, yes, this took some getting accustomed to. You could easily use the mineral veil if you wanted a matte effect.
I love the bareMinerals to begin with, but now I cannot get over how easy and amazing this foundation is. I've actually been asked by strangers if I'm wearing makeup, up because my skin looks perfect. No I'm not paid to do this but I always tell them i only use bareMinerals. I'm very careful with anything I use on my skin, now after years of using bareMinerals even with out any makeup my skin actually looks better than it ever did before.
Overall, this is a really good foundation. I use the powder matte foundation and this covers much better. I break out pretty bad sometimes and always have a lot of blemishes but this covers pretty well without a lot of layering. I start with primer then add the foundation. When the foundation doesn't cover some spots I just use my concealer brush with my powder foundation and that usually fixes the issue! Then I finish it off with the mineral veil loose powder. Downside: The tube it is in is really difficult to squeeze to get anything out. And the foundation does not smell good at all so it is not very nice to wear and smell all day
LOVED initially- now...?
When I first bought my foundation I was in love! It went on like a dream with my beauty blender and I set it with the matte powder foundation. My skin is sensitive and other products made me break out in horrible hives, so I thought I finally found my happy place. My skin looks better after I take the makeup off than when I put it on!
But then, I noticed that after a few hours it got bronzy, and at the end of the day my face is oompa loompa orange. Even with a good primer! Unfortunately there isn't a shade light enough for me to continue to use this product and I'm going to miss it terribly.
I figured I might as well use the rest of it for what I paid, but the little ball inside that rattles when you shake it? That keeps getting stuck so no product comes out. I have to shake the bottle upside down (into my hand) and there's a 90% chance I'll end up with foundation everywhere but on me. The bottle isn't even half empty yet! Sad face. :(
Best Foundation Ever
I have been wearing this foundation since it came out a few years ago. I am 48 and between the facial products that I use and this serum foundation, my skin has never looked better. This is honestly the best liquid foundation I have ever used. It is light, blends well, is not full of chemicals, lasts ALL day and looks amazingly natural. I use the newest concealer and also set with the mineral powder. I get complimented on my makeup and have been told that I look like I am in my 30's. I contribute it to my skin care and Bare Escentuals. I used to break out terribly, but have not had any episodes since switching to this brand. I will say, I have sampled a few foundations from other companies after seeing advertisements, but always come back to this. The other brands seem to sit on my face and Bare Skin blends in, which is the kind of foundation I have looked for my entire life. I'm a HUGE fan of Bare Escentuals and will continue to purchase their amazing products.
It's okay but not the greatest I've used
It seemed a little runny when it came out. I did okay job with coverup but still could see the redness in my cheeks. I used a little foundation powder over it. But through out the day it seemed to fade away. It's okay on sensitive skin also.
I was recently introduced to this product through a friend. I completely fell in love with it. It has great coverage and its really light weight. Also its really easy to find your shade to use. I highly recommend this to people looking for a new foundation. AMAZING
I'm Staying With The Powder
The color was too dark. I thought using this product would eliminate all the steps I have to take with the powder version. It does not. You have to use the concealer then blend, blend then still use the powder. It does not give the lasting, natural looking coverage the powder does. The brush does not dry as easily as the other brushes for the powder.
on the fence
I really can't decide on this product...a like/hate thing, not love/hate. IF you can get a shade that works, (I think many are too yellow my complexion) it's probably fine. That took several tries for me. The one I chose looks better when I have no tan than it does during the summer months. Again, not a fan of the packaging. More waste in this product. Although I keep my bottle upright I think there is more product inside the lid than in the bottle. After shaking it before use, and removing the cap it seems to bubble out of the top like a shaken soda can. And of course it's more than I use so it goes down the drain. I have a reserve bottle that I'm not sure I won't return....may depend on the day! I would think this company could do better.
best liquid foundation I've ever used
I have been a Bare Minerals powder user for years, but as I got older, found that the powder seemed too drying when my skin was overly dry. I've used lots of liquid foundations in the past and always felt they were too caked-on looking, too fake and was never able to get a good color match. I wanted something that covered imperfections and redness but didn't give me a pancake-face look.
Bareskin is perfect! It goes on weightless and makes your skin feel dewy, glowing and gorgeous. I like a more natural looking foundation, so this is the perfect match for me. When used with the brush, it's easy to apply and looks fantastic. I was color-matched at my local BE store, and have been completely happy with the results. I would highly recommend this foundation for a natural looking foundation that goes on easy and leaves you looking dewy and beautiful.
Bare Skin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation
I really like the Bare Skin Serum Foundation....it goes on smoothly and covers nicely, but I am in my sixties, and what I like least about it is it can really make your fine lines on your face stand out if you use too much.
Doesn't match my skin
I really like this foundation, but have issues with the limited pale color options.
The feel of this product isn't like any other foundation I've worn, it's thin, a little goes a long way, and it definitely feels more like a serum than your traditional foundation.
The problem I have is in color matching. I am very pale, but have gold undertones. In terms of tone, bare cream #05 is perfect, in terms of shade, it's way too dark. If I could take it and mix it with white or something, it would be perfect.
Alas, it is not.
It really is about time makeup companies realized that girls with gold undertones are sometimes pale too.
Bare skin is great
This is a great foundation for very dry skin or in the winter time. I can't see how anyone would be disappointed in this! I use the bare minerals dry foundation and the mineral veil over top of it. Great application!
