High Shine Eyecolor - null
Beautiful colors, but a little messy.
I tend to stick to neutral colored eye shadows, so I decided to try patina. I love the color, but the applicator seems cheap and causes the color to get dusted all over my face. However, If you use your own brushes, it completely gets rid of the problem. I would definitely use a primer underneath these though.
Sorry that original shades are no longer available
I have a real problem with Bare Escentruals pulling product that I really love. The original color of this product was not even given a color name, but it is a light shell pink that looked great with everything. I am actually switching to a product from England manufactured by Boots - their No. 7 line because of the stability of product. Bare Escentuals gets you hooked on something you really love and then all of a sudden it is gone forever. Not happy!
Love the metallics!
These are wonderful eye shadows. One swipe across each lid and I'm done! It can get messy when 1st starting but once you get the application technique down you're all set.
Love the color!
I ordered Moonshine and Vapor, and they're great! Wish there was a golden type of color available. Vapor gives you a perfect smokey eye with some black liner and mascara. Moonshine is more like a soft pink with a lot of sheen to it. It's more shiny than glittery, as though the glitter was mixed in homogeneous rather than randomly sprinkled like most eye shadows.
Application process is easy, I like the built-in wand that comes with it. You do need to scrape off excess before application, or it will get everywhere. Probably best to wait to do any concealer or under-eye stuff until after you've applied this shadow. Very easy to remove with almost any eye makeup remover.
I'm giving it three stars because it's messy. I don't like that when I come home from work the shadow has migrated to my lower lid. I'm picky that way, I like my eyeshadow on my actual eyelid and I like it to stay there. But no matter what I seem to do, I have yet to find a remedy to this. I wish the Velvet Eyecolor line made some sparkly shadows rather than matte (don't let the pictures fool you), because I don't seem to have that problem with them.
love this eye shadow---have several colors and would buy more in a heartbeat....the one way to get the best look with these shadows is you must use the eye lid primer--it really gives these shadows so much depth!!
Everybody Needs at least One
First time I've used this and I love it. Goes on easily, never smears and last all day into the night. I ordered the Moonlight and looking for more colors. Blends great with other colors as for under brow and lower lashes. Try it - you will like it.
Quite lovely once you get the hang of it!
I've got several of these in various colors and love all of them. I personally think they're easier than the loose powder pots, but the applicator definitely has its limitations....which are easily solved by using a brush. I still have to use primer with these despite these being long-wearing, otherwise they crease in about 4 hours...though with a primer they last until I clean them off.
Multidimensional shine, low quality applicator
It's a really fine grade glitter that nicely represents a taupe color, like a darker color of my skin tone in indoor environments and has a plum and white glow in natural light.
The applicator is ridiculously clunky. Imagine trying to apply with an oversized foam applicator. It's ok, lifehack it with a brush!
Patina is not golden khaki - its dark green
This did not look like the photo or the description - its dark green.
High Shine Line
I love this line. No messy and residual powder to clean off my face. The applicator is wide enough to cover your eyelid with color. Takes 5 seconds or less to have color on my eyelid! Stays on too! Best invention in a long time.
Would love to see modifications
I LOVE the amount of shimmer in these colors. However, I find these extremely hard to use. BM has re-trained me to be a pro at working with potted eye shadow, but these tubes kill me. First off all, I'm not a fan of sponge tip applicators. I tried the applicator anyway, but found it difficult to maneuver since it was so short. So, I stuck my brush in this tube (I had to use a real small one) and ended up getting a glittery/shimmery mess all over my counter when I pulled it out. Once I got it on my eyes, I loved it, but I would really love to see this sold in the pots with the sifters. I think that would make these a perfect 5.
High Shine Eyecolor
It seems intimidating but I tried them and I use them a lot. I wear glasses so a little sparkle on the lid isn't too much since glasses tend to hide your eyes some anyway. I just love these and I hope they bring them back or make something similar. They are potent so use very little. I just had to write about them because I use them almost every day! I use the regular shadows for highlighting at the corner and the outside and then another light colour under the brow.
Its nice to take places, but its messy. I have the darker gold, and its nice for going out but the applicator is just so large, its hard to be precise and exact to make your eyes loo the way you want. Other than that, it did stay all night in its wonderful vibrant, glitter, color
I bought High Shine Eyecolor in Gold Medal on a whim and have found it delightful.
Why I love It:
*The color is intense but not loud.
*The shine gives my eyes a natural-looking sparkle and glow.
*It's quick to apply and long-wearing.
*A little bit goes a long way.
Why it's not perfect:
*The sparkle goes everywhere. If you use High Shine Eyecolor be prepared to cover up the fall out because it doesn't brush off easily.
*Due to the messy nature of this product, it's not great for on-the-go application. Do your eyes before leaving the house when using this product.
Personally, I can deal with the messiness in exchange for the amazing color. I'm excited to try High Shine Eyecolor in different shades and would absolutely recommend this product to others.
Long wearing, lovely, fast application--PRACTICE!
I am a mom of a toddler and just started going back to work. I just don't have time to do my eyes like I used to before. This can be used with or without primer, but either way it stays on all day. LOVE! I bought Glisten and it looked really gold in the container, but is more of a shimmery sand sheen color as described when applied. It is not overpowering, and is lovely to use as a sheer color for day use. I use layers of other colors on top for an evening out for extra pop.
-Do your eyes first. Yes, it does fleck off when applying and it will be a pain to re-do your face, because you will have to....it just stays on that well.
-Lean over a sink when applying so it does not leave dust under your eye. Again, if it gets on that area, you will have to redo your makeup. I have under eye circles and use primer and concealer first, and if I get this product on it, I will have to redo everything, something you don't want to do with sensitive under eye tissue.
-Don't rub your eye after application. It will smear!
-Enjoy a touch of color with just a swipe of a wand! That is by far worth it for me. It goes on fast and stays on until you wash it off (I use the deep foaming cleanser...no special eye make remover needed).
-I have very sensitive skin and was worried this product would irritate me (most high shimmer/metallics often do), but I had no problems. I don't even notice it is on. My skin is also very dry now that I have gotten older (used to be combo), and was worried it would dry out my skin....it did not.
-No problems with creasing! Another awesome aspect, as my velvet and matte shadows often crease (I have very small, close and deep set eyes, and getting a bit of a "hooding" of the lid. This is all the more reason why I love this product--it really opens up my eyes and gives me a more youthful/dewy look).
I will be ordering more in different shades (unfortunately, Glisten is out of stock right now).
Thanks for a great product!
I just received two of these and am very disappointed. One came opened so it's dried out. It's so messy I have to open it over the sink. I did not buy these to have to use a brush with it....it comes with an applicator which is one of the reasons I bought this product. My plan was to have it in my purse but no way. It's just way too messy. What a waste of my money.
Wouldn't buy this product again.
Ok, I ordered 5 of the colors. Being honest, I will say, the colors are awesome and it last all day. That part is great. However, the wand with the applicator is very short, despite doing what the directions say to get the color on the wand, it doesn't happen. You can't get the eye shadow onto the applicator after the initial application. The color is way down in the tube. I just wasted $30. I would definitely return for a refund except I threw out the packaging before I tried the product. Not smart.
When I first started using this product I found it to be very messy. As I read other reviews about using an eye brush instead of the applicator it worked much better for me. I was very excited when the "black friday" sale had the price so low I order four different shades. Unfortunately the colors on the web site are not true to what comes in the package. I order Patina which is described as "golden khaki" and in life it is better described as mossy sage. Not the same color at all. If you do not already use the color I recommend going to the boutique first to try the colors.
Overall I really like the product and will continue to buy and use.
My favorite eye shadow ever
This is the best eye shadow ever. I love the colors and the shine/sparkle. I have 4 or 5 colors and I love them all. They stay on great with the eye shadow primer.
I too once had the problem of a messy application
First off I love the colors, my favorite hands down is glisten. My favorite combination is city lights all over from eyelid to brow bone, then glisten all over eyelid, then I take my eye defining brush and use a little bit of the color shantung and done! Its so beautiful!, I wear this combo frequently and get compliments, its a great color for day or night. I have other colors I love to, but glisten is my go to color. The colors last a long time too. So a trick I use for applying my high shine eye colors is I always apply without looking and always looking down so not a single particle can fall onto my face. Works beautifully every time. I just apply the color looking down then check in the mirror to make sure it looks good, and if not I apply more looking down or I use a blending brush to decrease the color if its too much for me. I have no problem with it making messes on my face anymore. I hope that helped everyone!
I love the High Shine Eyecolor!
I first bought Moonshine and Rose gold! I LOVE IT! It's easy to put on, I use the applicator it comes with. For me, I put it on in the morning before school or work, and it stays all day. It doesn't crease or smudge. it lasts all day! I wear these almost every day and i absolutely love it! the shine isn't overpowering for school or work and it looks great to go out with friends!
I have this in product in Luster which is a mix of gold and silver. I love the color combination because it can go with both warm and cool colored shadows. The applicator is spring loaded, which can make it hard to apply straight out of the bottle. Typically I use a smaller eye brush and dip it on the sponge tip and then place it on my eye. These do have a lot of fallout in the container and when they dry. Over all these are convenient and pretty, but may require a bit too much clean up to have them replace my everyday READY shadows.
I was disappointed with this purchase, I was highly excited to try it and when I put it on it looked great however within an hour it seemed to developers a mind of its own and migrated where I did NOT want it, it also creased. Sadly I have only worn it once! Bummer!! If it is improved I would give one more go....-Rebecca
This is the best eyeshadow I have ever bought
I bought the "Gold Medal" eyeshadow and it is flawless!!!! It goes on your eyes really easily and is not too much color. It is the perfect shine and the color really looks nice! I really recommend everyone to get this. I got the last on at the store I bought it at, so that means a ton of people bought it/loved it! Hope this helps!
Awesome All Days Stay BUT very messy
I absolutely love the quality of this eyeshadow... I use the Moonshine, Luster and Frost. My favorites are Frost & Luster.. than again they're also alot easier to clean away than the Moonshine (A deep purple). When I use the Moonshine I put it on the outter edge of my eyelid. After applying it, I look like I just got into a brawl lol and now I have 2 black eyes. It's very time consuming to clean up.. Especially since the eyecolor is meant to STAY.. That's where I'm not so favorable about this product.. so I've learned that with any deeper colors of this line, apply your eye color 1st!!! And do the rest of your face after. Or you will end up either A- Doing your make up twice. (which we all know that we cherish every single mineral of our make up so we don't want to waste it ;) ) B- Looking like you just got knocked out lol C- Spend countless minutes trying to get it off your cheeks and under your eyes (Probably making you late to work or where ever you are going) And Last but not least.. D- YOU ARE NOW IN A BAD MOOD... lol And we don't want that. So as we have all encountered some kind of flaw in such an awesome eye shadow, We can all help each other here with our own personal tips & tricks used to avoid these bad experiences. One thing that has yet to fail me on this is to apply inwards not as you would normally but starting from just say "Nose to ear" direction.. I go backwards now and no longer dread using my favorite eye shadows anymore. And have actually purchased more since mastering the application process.. wish you ladies the same luck!!
I love these
I went to the Bare Minerals boutique and bought some of these. I asked the lady at the store to actually show me the best way to use them. So she told me the best way was to tap the top of the lid down a couple of times, then if you have a loose eye shadow lid nearby put a tap a little bit of it into the lid and apply it with an eye shadow brush, then you won't have a mess. So that's how I applied mine and I never had any kind of a mess at all. I also don't do over my entire eye. I apply my eye shadow and the do a small line of it below my bone.
Like nothing else out there.
I bought one of these colors and was not sure that I like it,but you know what I looove it. I have bought just about every color in the group, I actually think they should make more. I don't have any problem with fallout. I type off any access and you a eye shadow brush to blend in the color to give me a lite from within look, and it looks great. I can use it day or night and it is quick and easy to apply, once again BE makes another great product.
I have 3 colors love it
I wear a primer so that might be why it never smudges or smears. I put a little on my lid and blend with a brush. I am about to order another color. I use this a lot of days for work they blend beautifully with each other or other shadows.
Love the color, hate the mess!
I got this a while ago and had a love/hate relationship with it. I loved the color (golden copper). It was beautiful and lasted throughout the day. The only problem was the applicator was terribly messy. I had to tap (and the word tap is putting it lightly) the applicator to remove the excess a lot. My husband was willing to drive me to the store and buy me another eye shadow to get me to stop using this because he hated listening to the excessive "tapping!" Still after trying to get the excess off of the applicator, I would end up with a couple of tiny drops of shadow on my cheeks after application. Those tiny drops go a LONG way. If I tried to just wipe it away, the shadow would be all across my face. It was awful. That was before I finally gave in to putting my eye make-up on first followed by face make-up because I would have to re-do my face every time! Pro (like all BE shadows) it applies and stays. Con it is terribly messy and not a tiime-saver at all. Will not ever buy again.
Does exactly what I'd hoped
I'm in my 50's, so a high shine product is not my best look except for the inner eye corner to provide illumination and brightness. I've been using a competitor's product for that purpose with great success, and this works just as well if not better. With the color I chose, which is Ice, you don't see any color per se; it's a neutral frost (although darker skins might actually see the pink cast). I would never use the sponge applicator; it's simply too big and applies too much product, which is why I knocked off a star. I use my own brushes to control the application, and I suggest starting with the tiniest possible amount as this packs quite a wallop in shine. If you're going to use this where you want it to be obviously there (e.g., across your brow bone or lid), I'd use a clean sponge applicator to control the powder and prevent it from getting all over under your eye. I was taught long ago that the really frosty powders apply better with a sponge on the eyes and have found that to be true.
