Brown Eyecolor - null
I cannot do without Clay
I have used Clay forever as my eyeshadow base. It stays on and never creases. It has a great matte finish.
You have now discontinued it and I'm at a loss. Can anyone tell me what I can now use as an equivalent.
Nice color payoff
I have tried several colors of the shadows and so far the 'brown' lines seem to be my favorite.
Pearl Satin (i think) is far too white; Graphite far too dark; Smokey Sage green is ok if you like greens.
But my favorites so far are Celestine - a nice pretty gray/purple/brozey color. Grace - a nice nude peachy sheen. Rapture - a very wonderful crease color, not too shimmery. Nude Beach - makes an especially good highlight, a litle too "white" not nearly enough "nude"/"brown" to be used as a base color IMO (even though at least 5 store employees have said its their fav color)
If you use a high quality brush and the correct application techniques then these apply lovely.
Dont forget a light fan brush to wisp away any fallout after youre done.
Perfect Color! Cocoa
I have many Bare Minerals shadows but I particularly love "Cocoa". I love the quality for Bare Minerals but their eye shadows are great, pigmented, easy to blend and last a long time without ceasing on me (but I tend to get oily lids) and they last FOREVER. I've had mine a looong time and I'm *trying* to use it up.
Cocoa is the PERFECT matte brown color. I'm sure it would work for anyone with light to medium coloring. It's the probably the only Bare Minerals color that I will repurchase again and again. It's my go-to neutral.
The color has the perfect amount of shimmer. It looks awesome & goes everything. Highly recommend! Go but it right now! =]
'Summer' is just that!
Summer is a great brown for the summer months. It's my first "shimmer" and I love it. Just enough to add some dimension, but not too much that I look like I'm trying to be a teenager!
Love the Clay!
Have been using Celestine for years - both under and alone. Recently I've been bothered by the glimmer/shimmer/shine of it. Don't know if my eyelids are handling it differently or if I'm just seeing it differently. (I'm 65 - maybe that has something to do with it.?) In any case, the Clay appeared to be very close to the color of Celestine. I purchased one to try and absolutely love the matte finish. Will stock up and hope it's not discontinued in my lifetime!
This is a beautiful nude color. Slightly shimmery when the light hits it you can see a bit of soft pinky nude shimmer. It makes THE PERFECT lip gloss too!! Just mix it on the back of your hand with a tad bit of cocnut oil or aquaphor and Viola!!! The perfect-- not too pale, not too brown, not too pink, nude lip gloss!!!
Celestine, S Kitten, and Heat Wave
Celestine is one of my all time favorite eyeshadows because I can wear it every day, and I can blend it with so many other colors. I acually didn't know it would be categorized in the brown eyeshadows. it seems to be almost a titch on the purple side? I actually don't know if I can describe the color. BM can do that ;) But i love it and it can be used wet or dry for diverse looks. S Kitten has also been a long time favorite eyeshadow since 2007 for me, along with True Gold. Which btw, I love to pair true gold and s kitten together. S kitten is a beautiful shimmery brown and I can't live without it. Heat Wave was a limited edition brown that came in a Wanderlust Desert kit, but I am trying to preserve that one for as long as possible because it is also one of my all time favorites...wish they would make it a regular eyeshadow. It is brown and sparkly, but has a hint of purple in it. Oh man, it brought the green out in my hazel eyes so perfectly! Love these products. BM wouldn't let me write out the first part of s** kitten btw.
I needed a neutral taupe eye shadow & found CLAY to be perfect, although a bit on the gray side. The wonderful thing is that it stays on absolutely ALL DAY LONG. For me, that's a huge plus. I dip my brush in the pot & then tap it on the inside of the lid to get the excess off, otherwise it gets under & around the corners of my eyes. I'll definately be buying it again, when necessary.
Love this product!
I got hooked on this product since the first time I've ever used it and have used nothing else since. It can be a bit messy, but I just love it so much. I try to tap off the excess on my BE brush before I apply it to prevent dusting under the eye. I love the shimmer or glimmer eye shadows and have many colors that have been discontinued, it lasts forever. I think this is one of the best products that BE has.
(FYI: we need to make sure we leave the exact color we're reviewing since there are lots of different colors on most of the pages (BE you guys should add a field for the color in the review section) - the review doesn't just post to the color you bought; it posts to the page the color is on which almost always has a variety of other colors as well so if you don't identify the color you're reviewing we'll be confused and not know)
I bought the Wearable Brown Medium and the Wearable Brown Dark and love them both (and will be purchasing the Brown Light because I love browns and need all of the shades!)
The brown medium can be lightly applied for a medium shade or more heavily applied to reach a slightly darker shade. It glides on gracefully and it's fabulous.
The brown dark is a great dark and is fantastic to use as a liner as well - use it dry for a soft liner and use it wet for a more bold line (using it wet it's just like a regular liner). This is my primary intention for the brown dark because it is def dark and I don't like too much dark on my eyelid itself but it's the perfect color to use if you do like dark colors on your eyes and it's amazing as a liner (as a crease color too).
If you're into browns def get the medium and the dark brown - and I'd say get the light brown too even though I haven't tried it yet. I have complete faith in it due to my experience with the other two shades and it will be one of my next purchases.
I love this shadow it is the perfect color and a little goes a long way. It's a mixture of browns with a little golden shimmer. Enhances brown eyes to the max! Very beautiful!
I wanted a taupe-like color that worked well with fair skin tones. It's beautiful and understated, and the shimmer is not overwhelming. For winter, it's great because you can just apply a light 'wash' of color over the whole eyelid, and I didn't even have to worry about 'staying in the lines' because it just fills in perfectly. For summer, I suspect it will go perfectly with tanner skin. Overall, I highly recommend this shade if you are searching for a versatile taupe.
HARMONY - perfect neutral med-dark matte taupe
I recently purchased HARMONY looking for a darker taupe and I have found it! I have medium reddish brown hair, medium brown eyes, a fairish/medium Irish skintone with pink undertone. Harmony is the perfect neutral medium-dark taupe matte shade that is my daily go-to eyelid & crease shade when I'm wearing red tops & sweaters. In fact, I purchased it specifically to wear with red. But it works great with brown, black, green, blue, turquoise, plum and everything else too, I just happen to usually reach for Sure Thing when wearing other colors. I use it dry, just a light, even coat with either a stiffer crease eyeshadow brush or a sponge applicator wand over the entire lid and crease to give a smokier, defined eye without being too dark (I'm not into scary Goth dark). Brown eyes love taupe!! I also use it dry with a sponge applicator wand along the lower lash line as a liner and the color is soft & perfect, again without being too dark. I love this shade and will keep re-ordering as long as they offer it.
Note: as with ALL of the BE eyeshadows, you need to use a light, neutral light shadow as a primer over your entire eye area first. NEVER use BE eyeshadows directly on the skin, it ends up very splotchy. I have used Estee Lauder Sandbar Beige Matte for this purpose for years and highly recommend it.
Heaven in an Eyeshadow
Grace is a heaven in a container! I love the wear a light layer of Grace for everyday/work day. I have light to med skin-tone. On my skin it likes like a creamy golden tan. I love to pair it with cultural pearl (inner eye) Grace (center lid) & Queen Tiffany (outer/ crease) (browns)or heart & devotion (purples) for a more finished dramatic look. Grace bends will & wears well over the time. I have had nothing but complements on it & everyone I know I have using this color! My Tip: When In doubt wear GRACE!!!
This eye shadow is great as far as if you want rich, vibrant colors and light weight and crease resistant BUT IT IS VERY MESSY. I have to drape a tissue below my lower lashes because the color will fall on my foundation and then smear. I'm a little disappointed.
My favorite eyecolor!
I have had this eyecolor for about 2 years now, It has lasted me quite some time because you only need a little! I use it as an eyeliner, or a shadow, to create natural looks, or if going out a smokey look with browns. Recently I combined this with captivate as my inner lid color, and i mixed harmony with healthy radiance, and it made a beautiful brown, for my crease and outer lid. It have in a grand collection, so I am so happy to see that it is sold individually as well!
The perfect nude shade
Its slightly brown and slightly warm pink. I can wear it alone for a subtle shade or paired with a darker pink or brown for something more dramatic. This is a very versatile shade.
Clay - the wonder shadow
When I first tried Clay, I really didn't have much luck with it and it sat in my drawer for over a year until, on a whim one day, I decided to give it another try. I AM SO GLAD I DID! This time, I started with Bare Minerals primer (the original, sheer "nude" primer) and I used an eye shadow brush with slightly stiffer and more densely packed bristles.
I think it was both of those changes, but particularly using that specific brush, that led to my falling in love with Clay -- as another reviewer mentioned, the color seems to become more luminous with each brush stroke. A stiffer brush with natural hair (as opposed to the softer-bristled synthetics) is better for this one, because Clay needs to be "buffed" into the skin in order to truly appreciate it, and the softer brush I was using last year wasn't doing that.
I know Clay is listed with the brown shadows, but on me it's a light, very neutral-toned dove gray. The color is soft to start with but builds easily to get a striking, opaque look if you want something more noticeable. Absolutely gorgeous and would flatter many skin tones. Don't hesitate to pick this one up :)
This is a very pretty Neutral Glimmer that almost any age can wear and is a favorite I have used for many years! Great for every day or dressing up.
Im a BIG fan of eyecolors so my goal is to buy every color I started off with the NUDE BEACH and I loved it, I cant wait till my next shipment comes in. The NUDE BEACH is a smooth shimmer and I love the Foil effect with all the eyeshadows.
Great base color
This color is great as a base color to pair with any other color! It's so neutral & shimmery.
This shade is so pretty, and can mix well with just about any other colors. I don't like wearing a ton of makeup in the summer, so I like to mix it with a little water on my brush so that it goes on very sheer, almost to the point of barely being there. That with a little bit of liner or mascara and I am out the door!
Smooth, velvety color that pairs well with nearly anything. Pretty much an idiot-proof shade.
My sister got me this color for Christmas because "the woman at the store said it's the most popular," and after having it for a couple of months now, I understand why!
For starters, to describe the color...I would say it does look like a very tan colored sand, with maybe a hint of pink in it when the light hits it. It has a shimmer that looks overwhelming in the jar, but it tones down a lot when you apply it.
I've always been more of a white eyeshadow girl myself, having grey eyes, and I'd only venture over to nudes when they were definitively matte, just to even out the tone of my eyelid. So I wasn't sure what to make of this at first, but I had to try it before I judged it, so I put it on to wear around the house in case I didn't like it. Right away, I noticed that the shimmer is extremely subtle, you almost don't notice it unless you're looking for it. And seeing as it is a nude color, it works fantastically with most every outfit and social situation you could find yourself in. Even on days when I don't wear eyeshadow, I'll just dab it on the inner corners of my eyes (instead of using white eyeliner like they recommend), which really opens them up and brightens them a little more.
I wouldn't say it's a color to use if you're trying to make a statement, as it is a very subtle color, but for everyday wear it's an excellent choice, or if you aren't into wearing makeup and want to try something that isn't too bold, this would also be a great way to go.
Another 5-star product from bareMinerals!
LOVE OF MY LIFE : NUDE BEACH AND OTHER SHIMMERS!!
i love this shadow (nude beach) and all other shimmers.... i believe it looks amazing if you have a couple colors and put the darkest at the furthest corners on your eyelid and then the lightest on the brow bone and a semi- light or colorful one in the main crease and are of the eyelid. also if you wet your application brush it makes the shadow look like liquid metal, its absolutely gorgeous and it goes on so beautifully and is not cakey at all!!! i love this shadow and bare escentuals. i swear by it, (and the clarissonic) :) <3
This is a great base for browns
This is a nice subtle, neutral brown. Perfect as a base color to build upon or wear alone. This is my go-to shadow for days I wear makeup, but just enough to add color. It's a perfect stand-alone shade for adding just enough highlight to your lids so they don't look empty.
Favorite Eyeshadow of All Time
I love this eyeshadow so much that it's not even funny. It's the perfect combination of subtle and bold. I can wear this shade to school, and then turn around and where it to a dance/party. Bright lights (i.e. football stadium lights, stage lights, bright sun) really make nude beach sparkle, and I always get either compliments or remarks that I look like a pixy. But either way I love it. This shade is very eye brightening (for those early school/work mornings), and eye catching (my eyes always grab a lot of attention in this). The only negative, and minor at that, is that when I put it on I tend to get sparkles on me, my vanity, and everything else. But heck, glitter never hurt anyone ;). Anyway, all in all, I highly recommend Nude Beach to anyone (that does not go to my school. This is MY secret thank you very much.) :)
Nude beach is an absolutely gorgeous color with an amazing shimmer! It was given to me by my aunt as a gift and it (along with bordeaux) really brings out the green in my eyes making them pop! I will definately be purchasing this color again!
One of my fave BE shadows. Very wearable.
I love Nude Beach! It's a beautiful shade that is versatile and easy to wear with a lot of different looks. It does have some sparkle to it, but not so much it can't be used for daytime. It's the perfect color with my skin tone (light to medium) and works whether I have a tan or don't. (A lot of my makeup looks completely different on me in summer and I can only wear those looks in the winter. Not so with this one, looks great year round.)
The color is a natural, neutral, even kind of nude tone, but won't wash you out if you normally can't wear nudes or really light colors like me. It's not too pink, not too peachy, not too brown, and can be used as a highlighter under your brow bone or as the main attraction on your lids. When used on my lids, I like to pair it with Drama in the crease and Charcoal eyeliner. Throw your favorite blush and Buxom lipgloss on along with two coats of mascara and you'll get compliments on your look!
