ORIGINAL Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 - null is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 306.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Foundation I have been using Bare Minerals for about twenty years. I love the coverage and the way my face feels with this makeup. Switching on a whim was the best thing I have done for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Used Bare Minerals for 5+ years, Not any more I've used BM for 5+ years & always had random strangers stop me to rave about my skin & makeup. Loyal beauty club customer & almost all products in my makeup bag are Bare Minerals. However, apparently all the mineral foundation is now "SPF 15". The added sunscreen does something to the makeup so that it doesn't cover like before. It no longer looks good!! It gets cakey very quickly. Read other reviews and I've decided my unusual breakouts that I've been unable to figure out may be due to the makeup too!! I'm DONE. I will look for a new product line to wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank you for the new shades!!! I'm not new to the Bare Minerals original foundation, BUT for the last 7 years I've been playing 'mad scientist' and mixing fair with fairly light to try and make my perfect shade. Today an associate helped shade match me to one of the 10 new shades and fairly ivory is that shade that I've been mixing for years to achieve. Thank you Bare Minerals for finally adding shades and giving me a match!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Coverage is great. This foundation goes on smooth and looks great! It has fantastic coverage and feels wonderful on the skin.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Light Foundation The foundation was really flaky and irritated my skin. It offered some coverage but was really noticeable and "cakey."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Foundation I have been using this foundation for five years now. I have acne prone skin and this does an amazing job covering everything with a very natural looking finish.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not at all what I had expected! I wanted to love this, I really did, but I didn't like it at all! Both my daughter and I hated it. It does not cover well at all, and the more you put on the more "cakey" it feels! It did not cover my freckles, and it did not cover the redness on my face, even after several layers. It felt very uncomfortable on my skin. Overall, I'm very disappointed. I've wanted to try bare minerals for a long time, and when I finally did, I was very let down.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Posting for 13 Year Old Heartbroken Girl I will say that Bare Minerals has always been my first choice since it has come out, I purchased a starter kit for oldest, who is now 24, years ago and she continues to use Bare Minerals. So I could not wait to get this for my teen daughter as a major gift for Christmas. We got this, the mineral veil, serum concealer, kabuki brush, Good Clean Fun and the Countdown to Gorgeous. So you can imagine how excited she was, So after Christmas she started wearing all her Bare Minerals and was happy but she kept itching on her face and her eyes were dry all the time. Come to find out she is allergic to every product that she received as a gift for Christmas and in the Advent calendar. This product is great but be aware of allergic reactions, my daughter was in misery for a few days after using it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best Foundation I love, love, love Bare Minerals... Have used nothing but Bare Minerals for close to 20 years ... My only complaint is the colors... Every product has completely different shades to choose from which means having to get color matched or trial and error to find the right shade. I was using the solid foundation and thrilled with the shade, application, all of it.. Then they come out with a new solid foundation, Bare Pro... BUT with all new shades so once again I had to find the right shade. So now I am using Pecan... Love it.. But wanted to have the original foundation on hand as well. WHY is there not a color called Pecan in the original foundation... OR if not the same shade color... Then... a chart that says if you use Bare Pro in Pecan, use ??? in the original foundation. Still love Bare Minerals..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful mineral foundation I use Bare Minerals Original foundation & hydrating Mineral Veil on top of my Complexion Rescue for extra moisture. It leaves my skin looking dewy, not gray nor cakey and doesn't accentuate any facial lines. And it looks great alone too.

Q & A

What shade is comparable to wheat 4.5?

I use complexion rescue and wanted to try the original foundation. The shade that works for me in Wheat 4.5. Which shade is comparable in the foundation?

Chest and face different colors, what color should I use?

Hi! My body is really tan (Medium Tan) and my face is more (Medium beige ) right now. What do you suggest I do to make this blend? Should I just use the medium beige and blend it with my faux tan bronzer? Thanks!
Asked by: Ash11
As a makeup artist, it is best to match your face color with the color of your body, otherwise, demarkation will be noticeable. When shade matching we always look at the color of your neck with the face. We always apply the foundation on the jawline to see if it is a good match. Don't forget to use the bronzer on your neck as well as face and chest.

How can I get bareMinerals Original Foundation to last all day?

I absolutely love the way bareMinerals Original Foundation makes my skin look, but it's already fading 4-5 hours later. I use a primer and Mineral Veil after applying the foundation, but that doesn't seem to help. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to increase the longevity of this makeup?
Asked by: linx99
I would try a makeup setting spray! Through a bare minerals outlet store, I purchased a Buxom setting spray - it's refreshing after you spray it on your face, but it'll also help keep your foundation on longer! Good luck!

Is there an expiration date for these powders?

I am also curious if there is an expiration date for the mineral veil and the bronzer in the powder form because I do not see one posted on these products

Which shade should I choose?

I currently use Light Beige 020 of Diorskin Forever foundation, which is perfectly match my skin tone.
Asked by: FloraChan
I went on a website and it shows for me that the light beige in the Diorskin is next to the Ivory. The Ivory and the Light Beige are very light colors, buts yours just has some neutral undertones to it compared to the Ivory. Since I do not have a picture of you, my guess would be to try the foundation called Fairly Light in bareMinerals. Fairly Light gives the description of being for porcelain-to-light skin with neutral undertones. Just like your Diorskin Forever foundation. I hope that helps! Nemm

I have been using your ORIGINAL Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 for years and I get cakey spots on my cheeks and nose.

I have extremely dry skin and put my moisturizer on about 15 to 30 min prior to my foundation. I seem to get cakey spots on my face. I noticed that even with out using moisturizer I get the spots, just not as bad. I thought it was because it's a powder, but I had the same issue when using a liquid foundation from cover girl. That was why I switched to bare minerals. What can I do. P.S. I ordered your bareskin several days ago in hopes that it would be better for me.
Asked by: mommabird
I wonder if the "cakey" spots are dry skin that needs to be removed, either by exfoliation or Scotch tape (a little trick to use sparingly.) If you have an area of concentrated dead, dry skin and you're just putting moisturizer on it instead of removing it, your makeup will not apply evenly. This is just what I've experienced, anyway. I would try exfoliating with an apricot scrub, then letting your skin dry fully so you can assess where any flakey areas are. That flakey skin needs to be removed before you apply moisturizer. Hope this helps!

What is the difference between Original and Matte?

I am trying to find out what the difference is between Original and Matte foundation?
Asked by: Melvin
Matte is going to give you more coverage. Think about a matte photo...its flat versus glossy. In no way does the original make you have a glossy look, but using the matte foundation will give you more coverage.

What am I doing wrong?

I really want to love this and sometimes it looks good but often it looks heavy in places and very shiny esp on my nose. Or at times I see all of the pores on my nose. What am I doing wrong?
Asked by: jenniferc
There are a number of questions I need to ask you before I can help give you the advice you seek. Of course, the best answer is for you to visit a boutique and have a BM makeup artist work with you to perfect the look you want. Here are the questions I would ask you. 1. What is your skin care routine and are you consistently doing it? 2. What is your skin type and are you using the right products for it? 3. Have you tried the Prime Time primer underneath the foundation? 4. What brushes are you using to create your look?

Can I use it after liquid foundation?

I am using liquid foundation and looking for loose powder. Should I use this or skip this and use mineral veil?
Asked by: Luna
Hi, there. If you want to keep using a liquid foundation, I would recommend adding only the Mineral Veil as a finishing powder. It makes such a difference in giving your makeup a "finished" look. The powder foundation actually provides a lot of coverage, so you won't need a liquid foundation with it. I use the powder foundation along with the Mineral Veil, which gives a great coverage - better than any liquid foundation I've tried. It's also the best combo for clear skin. Would definitely recommend.

Is there a way to remove the sifter portion of the container?

I find it hard to get all of the product out of the container with the sifter cover. With the old cover, you could remove it to get the rest of the product out. Is there a way to remove the sifter portion of the container?
Asked by: AliC
Yes you can. I used a butter knife to pry the edges up or you could use your nails.
