ORIGINAL Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 - null
Best foundation you will ever use
I will start out by saying there are only 2 reasons why somebody would not like this foundation. Reason 1 you are using the wrong shade. When I first started using this foundation I got color matched in fair I purchased the starter kit and got home really excited and once I put it on I was so disappointed it literally covered nothing and made me look worse than without makeup. A year went by and I decided to try again purchasing another starter kit and going up a shade to Light and WOW I was thrilled with the results. The coverage was amazing and my skin was glowing, so long story short I discovered if you are using the wrong shade it will not give you the coverage you want and leave you looking blotchy and unhappy. Reason 2 you are applying this product incorrectly. I am guilty of using way too much product in the lid and not swirling, tapping, and buffing like I should have. After watching many tutorials on youtube I discovered a little goes a long way and it's all about the buffing the more you buff the better it looks. I know a lot of people complain about the price but to be honest if the large container of foundation does not last you 6-9 months you are using way too much. I purchased an XL container at an outlet store over a year ago and I'm still using it. Another thing I will point out is the brushes. I'm not a huge fan of the brushes the starter kit comes with except the concealer brush that one is a must I feel like it doesn't matter how many layers of buffing I do I don't get medium coverage, I use the heavenly face brush and it's the best brush bare minerals has to offer. The bristles do not come out and it gives me medium to full coverage that lasts all day it will be the only brush you will ever buy. I purchased mine over 2 years ago and it still works like it's brand new. So I hope this review helped especially for those people who are nervous to try it I hope you do because honestly my skin looks better when I do use it and a drugstore foundation can promise that but we all know it's a lie. I get complaints on my skin all the time and people don't even realize i wear makeup which can be the best compliment any women could ever get.
Im in my early 40's
I use this daily. I use the full coverage brush and apply to my areas that need a bit more coverage (under my eyes and chin area). I then use my kabuki brush and apply all over my face. I really recommend applying the primer first. Your brush will glide flawlessly over your skin. I will never go back to heavy liquids after finding Bare Minerals. Even my 22 yr old daughter is using Bare Minerals now!
I still love the original foundation.
I have been using Bare Minerals and I have it on the automated shipping. It is the best thing that I have discovered for foundation in years. I am so happy to be rid of the caked on liquid foundations of the past...
I'm 47 and was never happy with liquid make-up because it always settle into the lines around my eyes and corners of my mouth but now WOW! I so LOVE this product it's smooth, light weight and so natural looking. I like that the product carries a variety of colors that are easy to pick and I can adjust the tones for what works for me through the seasons. Thank you Bare Escentuals
Is not what it used to be
I have used this for 3 years and my last pack did not cover like it use to! It also did not stay on for 8 hour's I was lucky it lasted for 4 hour's, sadly a waste of money.
Love this product. It has great coverage, while looking so natural and giving the face a beautiful glowiy look. When you first put it on, it will look cakey, but after only about 10 mins it is fine. Definetly recommend this for beginners, since it is easy to apply and is the perfect amount to wear.
It was alright but...
This foundation is pretty good but as a person with oily skin and alot of acne i found it a little hard to use. The product is really good for your skin, it actually has helped heal my acne a bit:) but i comes off with kindof a brightening or highlighting finish which didnt really help at all with the oiliness. So yeah this would probably be a amazing produt for people with dry to normal skin, but i think i would prefer the matte one a lot better:)
The original formula made me break out like I was using cheap store bought makeup. It made me itch and my face was splotchy, red rash mess. Switched to matte, which was okay.
Think twice before you purchase this product
I used the BareMinerals Original Foundation for the first time about four years ago. After using the foundation for one month, I began to notice orange and red streaks in my hair-just around my face and underneath my bangs (naturally I have blonde hair). I went to the salon, and spent a considerable amount of money to get the color out of my hair. The stylist informed me that it was definitely some sort of mineral deposit. She said she has seen that sort of issue with less well-known brands of mineral makeup, but doubted that BareMinerals would cause such coloration. To be safe, I stopped using the product.
Recently, I decided to give BareMinerals another try (4 years after the first incident). After using the product for about three weeks, I noticed the red and orange streaks in my hair-just around my face. I caught it early, and was able to get some of the coloring out with an intense clarifying shampoo. However, I anticipate that I will have to make another trip to the salon to get the rest of it out. I stopped using the BareMinerals Foundation, and a few weeks later, the red/orange color has not returned.
I have had blonde hair my whole life and have never had this problem with any other product. If you have light hair, think twice before purchasing this foundation!
This product is fantastic; the best foundation in coverage as well as being good for your skin. I love the way that it makes my skin seem like it's naturally glowing (from the mica in the foundation); it gives a healthy, luminous look. I recommend trying it out - I know it's going to be a winner!
Tip: For medium - full natural-looking coverage, buff small amounts into the skin, going over again with more small amounts until you reach the desired coverage. When buffing it in, take your time to really buff it into your skin (even when you think there's nothing left in the brush). The more you buff it into the skin, the longer the coverage will last.
Tip: For longer, fuller coverage, use PrimeTime before foundation.
