Q & A

MATTE Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 - null 4.5 5 126 127
Perfect Natural Coverage I get so many compliments that it doesn't look like I'm wearing makeup but if I didn't they would really notice and think Scary! That's the point really. If they think I'm not wearing makeup, it's perfect for me. I'm way past the cakey makeup. The entire product line allows for natural or dramatic. Perfect! Expensive but it does last a while. Just be sure you have a good brush that doesn't promote waste. Keep your brushes clean weekly or so. Use shampoo and conditioner on your brushes - additional advice I guess. 07/05/2015
Will never go back to other foundation! I used this product years ago and changed thinking I would save some money. Tried several "mineral" foundations you can buy at the drugstore and none were comparable. I even tried an expensive department store liquid foundation to cover redness to my face that developed as I got older......made my face breakout at age 45! Went back to bareMinerals and gave a deep sigh of relief......beautiful and covered my redness....and no breakouts! I will never leave again. 06/28/2015
The colors are wrong, but the finish is great with new brush I've been wearing BareMinerals for 12+ years. I love the loose minerals and was so excited when the matte finish launched. The colors have always been off-too yellow and too pink. I had given up on it until recently when I bought the Beautiful Finish brush. I got the email about what brush to try with each foundation formula and decided to re-visit Matte. Even though I can't get a perfect match, the Beautiful Finish brush applies this foundation so perfectly, I'm wearing it anyway. It doesn't budge during the humidity and wears all day with NO necessary touch ups. As a mom, I don't have time to worry about my makeup and I love the way the finish looks-even the end of the day. Try it with the new brush, you won't be disappointed! 06/25/2015
Love it!! Bare Minerals matte foundation works so well....I don't need much and it barely looks like I have any makeup on! 06/22/2015
Love this Product I have been using this product for two years now. I really like it and will continue to use Bare Minerals products because they're lightweight and natural. However, I've noticed the power doesn't last that long and can leave my skin a bit oily. Still like the product though because it's so easy to use! 06/22/2015
It's Okay This product probably isn't one of bareMinerals' best products. I definitely prefer liquid foundation; it's just that powder foundations settle into pores and creases in the skin, therefore making them more visible. I still like this product and will use it. 06/20/2015
Great, especially for warmer weather I bought this in anticipation of summer's hot, humid weather. When I first apply it, my face feels a bit tight and looks flaky. As the day goes on, however, I'm glad I'm wearing it. If I do have flakes, I sweep a bit of Original Mineral Veil over, and that helps. I use Fairly Light, the same shade I wear in the Original Foundation. The beautician at the store said that the darker shades do not always correspond perfectly, so I would test in-person before buying. Sidenote: as the review indicates, I have combination skin and use a prescription cream for acne on most nights. 06/10/2015
Was very Hopeful I was very hopeful when I approached a sales person about makeup to cover my Rosacea. It covered some but you could still see the redness and I was not satisfied with the end result. Then the breakouts came and my skin looked horrible. I will not purchase this product again until they improve it. 05/25/2015
not worth the money I was very excited to get this product but what a big little down. Did not cover like they say on tv, will not be buying product again 05/21/2015
Perfect I have used this product for years, I love it! It's perfect for my very sensitive skin. My skin tends to flake during the day, this Foundation covers everythin uneven without looking dry. 05/12/2015

I've never had this with any other make-up foundation and I have used the same liquid primer for almost 10 years now. I love the way this product makes the rest of my skin look and feel but it is so frustrating and embarrassing to deal with. Also, I do not have the gathering of make-up in my smile lines when I simply wear a primer foundation so I know it has to be the matte finish that is causing this issue. Thank you in advance BM.

im a warm tan powders and have tried bare skin and complexion rescue. honestly unless you want to use multiple items , there isn't a shade that matches. i tried bare walnut and turned out really paste-y even though it looked like it would match. the only thing i can say is to maybe take a chance on espresso or bare mocha since they're the only 2 shades left. one of them may work

I would like to know how young can you start using your products? I have a pre-teen that is beginning to get acne and would also like to know before I start purchasing your line for acne. I am also interested in the sheer powder that seals the makeup.

really any age! Perfect for pre-teens and adults. This foundation doesn't have any harsh ingredients in it that can cause acne like some drugstore foundations. Your skin actually changes a lot with this makeup. It's smoother, softer, and doesn't clog your pores. The mineral veil really seals in the powder foundation. It absorbs oil and it's great to have if you get oily throughout the day.

Absolutely it is safe for them to use. I dont recommend it at all for though. Its very gentle on the skin but it is not great for acne. I have bad bright red acne sometimes cysts. It covers but looks very unnatural and cakey if you need quite a bit of coverage. I suggest if you do purchase it to make sure to use primer and some form of green cream to reduce the redness. I find using a concealer specifically on the bumps helps too.

I started using makeup in 6th grade at age 12 and even though I am still in my teens, this makeup is one of the best I have used (and I have tried a lot).
It feels and looks natural and I have many allergies and sensitive skin.
Their finishing powder is also light and great.
No matter what age this is a great makeup brand and better than a lot of those heavier and less natural foundations out there.

Yes I believe so! The Matte may be a bit darker but it is hardly noticeable! When I went to get my shade match in the store the artist tried on both and told me that they look the same on me. (Medium Beige) The only real big difference is the finish between Matte and Illuminated.

Yes, they are the same color, with Mattes just not having a that "glowy" look (from the mica in the Original). The Matte may be a teeeennnyy shade darker, but not enough to need a whole new shade.

Hope this helps!

I have struggled with acne for years and also have super oily skin. I am not positive if it is truly "oil free" but it has absolutely helped me get my acne in check and controlled the amount of oil on my face. Highly recommended for acne prone skin!

I honestly can't say if this has any type of oil or not, but I can tell you it's great for acne-prone skin. I have acne and my face gets oily, I have been using this product for some time now and it has never made my face break out worse and it hides and acne and acne scars very well. I highly recommend trying it!

I have had acne for a good portion of my life. This foundation has never made my face break out (milk actually contributes to my acne so I switched to almond milk), however, this make up really helps cover the discoloration caused by acne. Once my face cleared up after switching milk, I love this make up even more! I get comments all the time about my skin and I know it's the make up that makes it glow! It it not oily or heavy. It is actually quite light and I believe the ingredients are listed on the site. No oil that I know of!

I have oily/sensitive skin and my dermatologist wants me to use only non-comedogenic makeup to help with my acne.

Are bareMinerals products non-comedogenic?

I've been using bareMinerals products for years and would hate to have to find another brand!

Their matte formula is non-comedogenic. Not sure about their moisturizers because I've had issues with them. Try Half Pint Minerals foundation---more gentle and less expensive.

I have had oily, sensitive skin prone to breakout nearly all my life. I wish that Bare Minerals had been established decades ago. Bare Minerals products do NOT clog my pores or break out my skin, unlike so many other brands that even claim to be non-comedogenic, even those very expensive brands. I had to stop wearing makeup years ago until I tried Bare Minerals. I use the Matte Foundation along with the primer for oily skin which keep my skin looking and feeling good all day. I also use the Exfoliating Cleanser (a powder) which does not irritate my sensitive skin. Hope this helps.

Is the color right for you, are you using a primer and a finishing powder?
If not, I would get a color that matches your neck and your body.
Also make sure to use primer and to use a finishing powder. I have oily skin, and even this brand gets oily on me, but with the mineral veil its still matte.
I use the matte foundation (powder) which is nice and light and good for oil skin. I wouldn't use a liquid foundation for oily or sensitive skin.
Apply with a flat brush in a circular motion which evens out the tone, and make sure to do the makeup down your neck as well. Then use a powder brush to apply a finishing powder.

I have the oiliest skin on the planet so I can relate. I use sephora silicone free primer after cleansing my skin. Then I apply a layer of mineral veil to my entire face, concentrating on the t-zone. I then apply my matte BM foundation, concealer, blush..etc. I add another layer of mineral veil and voila shine free for a couple of hours at least lol. Mineral veil is perfect for touching up through out the day too!

I had the exact same problem a little while ago (I am 14). I went without makeup for about two weeks before I got super self-conscious about the redness on my face. First of all, your face could be a little red due to sun. Even though it's winter, I wear sunscreen EVERY day to protect my skin. SPF is a life saver. I wear Shiseido Oil Free Urban Environment Sunscreen. It's not oily and doesn't make your skin white. If you wear this, and then a light powder, you should feel confident without feeling like you're wearing a mask. That's what I do! I wear sunscreen under a little powder (BareMinerals Matte Foundation) and I am good to go! My friends say that it looks super natural and that they can't tell that I am wearing makeup! I hope this helps :)

Please don't go without makeup, because good makeup, like Bare Minerals, helps to protect your skin from negative effects of the environment, such as air pollution, sun damage, very dry air and cold weather to name a few. I have had very oily and sensitive skin nearly all my life, and Bare Minerals is the best I have used for my skin. To start I always wash my hands before I touch my face. Cleaning my very oily skin is important, and Bare Minerals has good treatment products for oily skin. I especially like the Exfoliating Cleanser which does not irritate my also sensitive skin. Before applying makeup I use the primer for oily skin - I don't use a lot either. I slightly wet my fingertips with water to help smooth on the primer. Then I apply the Matte Foundation powder with a clean brush. This combination keeps my oil in check for nearly all day.

With this kind of a product you want to use a shine free(oil free) primer first before putting this on. Also, use the matte version to help with the shine. With this product, less really is more. Start with a little and it should form to your face. This is what i do. Hope this helps.

Make sure you cleanse first, use a moisturizer ( oily controlling is good like the combination skin moisturizer by bare essentials), use the foundation primer. Then apply. If it looks like a mask you are likely applying it too heavy. You may want to find a boutique or sephora store to color match you. Also when you load the brush it is important you tap out the excess so it does not cake on when you apply it.

First, if you are not wearing a primer, you probably should. This is the number one problem most people have when it comes to makeup-meltdown. Second, start off with a tiny amount of foundation and build on your coverage. Third, make sure you set it with Mineral Veil, a lot of people think that this does not make a difference but it really does! After this step, you can use a setting spray to lock in everything if you think this won't be enough. And finally, if all else fails, you may want to try plan B:) hope this helps and good luck!

The easiest method would be to wet the brush for your concealer and apply that first. Then apply foundation by swirling and patting it in!

This is what I do for my clients, hope it helps!
