How to Do Smoky Eyes
The smoky look is perfect for a night on the town, cocktails with the girls or a candlelit date. Our makeup expert demonstrates a simple and sultry, smoky eye that gives soft intensity and depth.
First use fingertip to apply a light layer of Prime Time Eyelid Primer to eyelids.
TIP: Add a light layer of Mineral Veil to catch any extra Eyecolor. When you’re done with your look, just brush the Mineral Veil and the fallout color it caught for a clean complexion.
Apply a warm neutral matte Eyecolor, like Vanilla Sugar, on the brow bone with the Light Stroke Brush, which provides high payoff of color.
Lightly buff a warm purple shimmer Eyecolor, like Heart, into the full crease contour using the Crease Defining Brush. This technique will soften any harsh lines from the foiling process and will create a seamless blend of the two shades.
Use our unique foiling technique to apply a shimmery, gunmetal gray shade, such as Drama Eyecolor, for an instant high-color shine. Dampen the Wet/Dry Shadow Brush and create a smooth paste in the Eyecolor lid. Pat color onto entire eyelid from lash line to crease contour.
Add a precise frame for your eyes with an intense, matte black Liner Shadow, like Onyx. Use the Soft Focus Liner Brush and press color right at the lash base for both top and bottom lashes. Create a slightly thicker line at the lower lashes for the ultimate smoky look.
To add even more definition, use the Crease Defining Brush to apply a very small amount of Onyx. With just the tip of the brush, lightly buff the Liner Shadow into the crease.
Apply a small amount of an icy blue shade, like 2000 Eyecolor, into the inner corners of the eyes with the Heavenly Liner Brush—perfect for this type of fine detailing. Also dust a small amount of Eyecolor along the lower lash base just below the Liner Shadow. This will bring more attention to the eyes.
Layer a few coats of Flawless Definition Mascara onto lashes to frame eyes and really make them stand out. Start at the lash base and wiggle wand in a zigzag motion to separate lashes.
