Marvelous Moxie Lipliner - null 2.9 5 14 14
Breaks, will not hold, toxic I was very disappointed when I bought the liner, in the store they had said it was comparable to the 100% natural liners I was in love with. When I got it home not only was it brittle and hard to use... but it also caused an awful allergic reaction. Buyers be ware. 07/06/2014
average i really love BE products, but this pencil is not really worth the money. The color is awesome ( i have empowered), but it is so hard and brittle it breaks and crumbles at the slightest touch. i feel like i am holding my breath and hoping every time i use it. I love the "fat" pencils they used to make,. but oh well....nothing new stays for long with BE. 07/02/2014
great product these are great lip liners. The colors are true and pretty and they are so creamy. The best liners by far that I have tried. I have Empowered and Liberated and they go great with my moxie lip glosses. 05/31/2014
Just not nice I am so disappointed in this lip liner. It is dry and brittle. I wish you still made the 'wide' lip liner - it was soft and creamy, glided on and made a soft wide line - no smearing required. You can not even blend this liner to get a soft edge. The ones I bought made their way to the circular file. Getting more and more disappointed in BE products. 05/14/2014
Marvelous Moxie Lipliners I never wore lipliners until these! I absolutely love how beautiful the colors are. My favorites are Liberated (blushing almond - favorite!), Exhilarated (warm rose pink), and Thrilled (nude mauve). These are all such natural pink "your lips but better" colors! The only thing I don't like about these liners is that they have a bitter taste to them. However, I usually just top them with some lipstick and I am good to go! They really help the lipstick to last longer and not bleed out. Definitely love these! 03/19/2014
I like it- would recommend. I do not know why I see a lot of negative reviews. I bought thrilled. No, I am not 100% THRILLED with it. But, it works fine. { = ) I could not help myself} I like the texture and color is kind of neutral for my fair skin. The only negative, I might throw in, might be I wish It lasts a little longer. I like it with the moxie glosses (Spark Plug /Rule Breaker mostly) and I am set. I do not have breakage problems. But, I only roll out a tiny bit to use the product. Then, roll it back in when I am done. It's a lot better than most products out there with nasty things in them. 01/05/2014
Breaks off with little to no pressure- to narrow?? The color is great, I didn't have any problems with my lips drying out or any other taste, etc. issue.... my big problem is that no matter how little I expose of the pencil to keep the strength in the container-- the tip continues to break off and crumble. This started from the first time I unsealed the pencil so it wasn't a matter of the product not being fresh. I can't tell you how much of the pencil went in the trash because it was lost breaking off. I have never had problems with ip pencils before (any brand) so I know it's not my technique. I wouldn't have expected this from BE- I LOVE the rest of their lip products, actually the rest of ALL their products. I hope this is a problem they take a look at and either make the liner a little larger so it has more support, or find a formula that won't crumble with the least amount of pressure. I hate wasting $16.00 literally watching it go down the sink and cannot find my receipt to return.... 12/11/2013
Revved So far so good with this liner. I outline my lips, then fill in completely before applying Moxie lipstick shade Lead the Way. It's a really nice combination, and stays put. 11/15/2013
Unhappy I don't feel the lip liner holds. Dried out my lips too. Please bring back the 100% Natural Lip Liners. Loved the natural and eggplant colors :) 11/09/2013
Unhappy Too I also had problems with this lip liner. First impressions -- it looked lovely on, but it tasted bitter and had an odd odor to it. As I continued to use it, my lips became very dry and cracked to the degree that I can no longer use it. This never happened with the previous lip liner, which I loved. Please bring back the previous lip liner. 11/07/2013

I've never used lip liners before and honestly can't tell much difference when someone else uses them. Aside from layering colors (which you can do with just good old lipstick and glosses), is there much of a purpose to buying a liner?

Thanks!

Lip Liner is used to keep lipstick from bleeding outside of the lips. Apply lip liner (that's a neutral shade) and fill in from the line of your lip to the middle of both lips and then add the lipstick. If lipstick or lipstick pencil is too bland you can add a little gloss to bump it up. If you're not a lipstick wearer, then lip liner may not be for you. Personally I don't use it. I dont have the issue with lipstick bleeding outside my lips. I just apply lipstick, tiny bit of gloss and blot if it's too much on my lips. I have darker skin and my top lip is already pigmented so I have to apply lipstick to the bottom lip and press my lips to get product on the top one so that it doesn't make me look clownish. I included a link for you to check out.

I find a lip liner to have two main functions- first, it gives your lips a "polished edge" and by using the lip liner you can correct any lip areas you don't like (one side of the top lip is more "plump" then the other, etc. The second, and most importantly, is that it keeps your lipstick and gloss from feathering outside the outline you've made with the lip pencil. Another reason for using a lip liner is that many of us actually color in our lips with the liner, then add the lipstick and/or gloss over the top. it makes your color stay on longer-- especially if you drink a lot of liquids during the day (like me!). if almost provides your lips with a "stain" that then we you reapply your lipstick and gloss (if you want) brings you back to how good you looked in the a.m.-- it keeps your lips from going back to totally normal and washing you out. Many lipliners will dry your lips out-- but I don't find that with BE- I find it moisturizing (like all their lip products), and I love their colors- I've had total strangers (in cosmetic departments) stop me and ask about my lip colors and how great my lips look-- go figure.... I just thought I had normal lips! Hope this helps!!

Even though a previous question and answer indicated to use the side and not the tip of the marvelous moxie lipliner - it still needs sharpened from time to time.

You should be able to. Just place it delicately over the top of your moxie lip liner and scale it down to your liking. Or, you can use the bottom of your old bare minerals eyeliner; that too has a sharpener on the end and also a smudger. I discovered that not even a couple years ago toying around with it. It was definitely a bonus discovering that since the product description didn't say there was a smudger or sharpener at the base of it! If you can see my picture clearly, I'm showing you my Big and Bright Eyeliner in Plum on the left. In the middle, is the sharpener/smudger and on the far right is the cap end that keeps it all together. Hope this helps!

Is it soy-based? I am very allergic to soy, and am always looking for makeup that I can wear that won't trigger a reaction.

Use the end of your Big and Bright Eyeliner. There's a small sharpener at the end of it as well as a smudger too. Contact a BE rep for products of theirs that includes the small sharpener if any. Also, ask them what alternatives could be done to sharpen your liner(s).

Use the side of the lipliner, rather than the tip. Also, you might want to try a softer application (The colors of the liners are pretty strong themselves, so a strong application is not necessary).

Which color lip liner should I use with the Maverick Lip Gloss, or do you use a lip liner with a gloss?

Yes, you should use a lip liner with a gloss, because it will add dimension to your lips and make them appear fuller. I would try the lip liner shade called "Exhilarated." If that shade doesn't work, I would go to your boutique afterwards

Best choice is Revved a deep neutral color or Exhilarated a medium rose pink, Thrilled a medium nude, Empowerd a deep pink are other color options with maverick, depending on how or what you want the color to look and blend. I do use a lipliner with moxie gloss occationally to keep it in place, but light handed and smudging it a little helps for a natural look to avoid color fading unevenly.
