Q & A

bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 - null 4.1 5 488 490
Dislike I rarely write reviews but I just had to say I very much dislike this foundation. Although it is lightweight which is a plus, it smears like crazy on my skin. throughout the day it's almost completely wiped off the center of my face and starts to settle in my creases, eyebrows, and the outside of my face. I do apply with a brush then go through And blend as best as I can with a Beauty blender and add a fair amount of powder but i still look like a hot mess by the end of the day. No matter how much I apply it never seems to cover up my imperfections. And also, this morning I was trying to squeeze it out of the bottle and it wouldn't come out! I shook it up and could hear that at least half the bottle was full so I knew I couldn't have run out. Bare minerals prouducts are usually amazing but I was not impressed at all. I will not be repurchasing this. 04/15/2015
unhappy with the overall product i have used the powder foundation for years and thought I would give the liquid a try. I have found the product to be thin, it feels like there are little pieces of foundation on your skin that need to be wiped off and my skin looked and felt dry. I have used the eyeshadow, foundation, bronzer blush and mineral veil for years. This is the first product that I am very disappointed in. I won't be using the rest of the bottle and have switched to something else. 04/15/2015
Good makeup, horrible product design I love bare minerals and was really excited to try their liquid foundation. The make-up itself provides good coverage and conceals, but the container it comes in is extremely flawed. The makeup requires that you shake it before using. The container doesn't allow pressure to escape it in the way it should so once you shake it covering the top with your finger, when it's upright, it explodes makeup everywhere and leaks down the side. The cap also doesnt seal properly, so if you try to shake it with the cap closed, when you take off the top it'll leak. I've lost at least half the bottle from this. Truly a shame because it's good makeup, but I won't be purchasing it again. Not worth investing in makeup that you only get half of the bottle. 04/12/2015
coverage could be better The color is nice, but the product sets in the creases and also becomes very shin . The primer and powder veil don't prevent this from happening. 04/12/2015
Flawless and Natural I love the bareskin foundation! It has excellent buildable coverage and buffs on flawlessly. I received compliments on it and comments on how it looked so natural and not cakey at all like other foundations. It's also a plus that it comes in so many shades to get a perfect match. I've tried all the bareminerals foubdations and this has still got to be my favorite. 04/12/2015
Horrible container The container is horrible! Every time I open my product the make up comes spewing out of the top and I have wasted more than I have used. On top of this Bare Minerals stresses the importance of shaking and mixing the product prior to use as it separated, which is virtually impossible when I open the container and the top layer of the product is always lost, so therefore I have never been able to experience the use of the entire product combined. 04/10/2015
LOVEEEE I got this foundation when I got my makeup done for prom and I LOVED it. Although a bit pricey it is worth every penny. I also purchased this product with the foundation brush which is amazing as well. I can't imagine myself finishing this foundation anytime soon and iIwear it about 5 days a week. Will definitely be buying this product again. 04/05/2015
Switched from BE powder foundation & happy I did I've been using BE's powder foundation for several years, particularly to control oil. As my skin care regimen and health have changed (both for the better), I noticed the powder foundation was starting to sit differently, and was way too light for my new skin tone - so I decided to try the liquid serum foundation in a shade darker than my previous. I'm glad I switched! The color is perfect and coverage is great - it covers my pores better than the foundation, particularly in problem spots like the side of my nose, where I was having to buff in the powder to get proper coverage. The finish is lovely and feels weightless. I still have to start with spot coverage treatment for any blemishes, but that was the case with the powder foundation as well. The serum looks much more natural and "not even there" than the powder foundation has looked on me for a while. I noticed a faint odor during application which vanished quickly, but nothing terribly offensive or even strong - it just smells like liquid foundation makeup. If there's one out there that smells like flowers and still works well, let me know, I've never run into it. Other reviews warning about the packaging are probably true - I'm not planning on testing it, and I'm storing it upright - but will try and plug up the bottle before travelling to make sure. I bit the bullet and also got the matching brush - HIGHLY recommended, I think it really made a huge difference in how smoothly and evenly it applied with a minimum of effort. 04/04/2015
Messy I like the product, but hate the packaging so much. Probably the worst packaging I have ever experienced in a foundation. Leaks everywhere, after using it and trying to put the cap back on, product will leak out the sides and gets all over my makeup bag. I do like the product, but it's not worth the mess. Wish I could get my money back. 04/02/2015
Sorry I switched...waste of money I am a longtime Bare Minerals powder user. I've always liked it a lot. I have sensitive skin, and it seems to be the only thing that I can wear. Over the years my skin has been getting drier and the powder just wasn't setting like it used to. Several people (and the reviews on this site) told me to try the BareSkin liquid as it is better for dry skin. I was shade matched at a store, and I bought Bare Beige and the brush. BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY EVER!!! First, I have a lot of redness in my skin (which I told the person at the store), and this does absolutely NOTHING to cover it. Second, It is a horrible yellowy-orange color on, and it looks terrible. It looks like a bad spray tan. Third, It sits on top of my skin. It doesn't look cake exactly, but it definitely does not naturally blend the way the powder used to for me. I am completely disappointed! I wish I could just get my money back, or at least try a different product. I hate to move away from Bare Minerals, but it looks like that's what I am going to have to do. 04/02/2015

This happens to everyone sometimes! Exfoliation is very important, or else you have dead skin cells just sitting on top of your face. You should exfoliate a few times a week and moisturize as well.

I just recently purchased this product. I have never used Bare Minerals, so I am not sure if that is how it is supposed to look. Maybe the color is to dark. My forehead looked very oily to me and like the make up was caked on.

Sounds like you are applying the product to thick, it only take a LITTLE ..... try applying with a foundation brush instead of the application pad that comes with it.

Hi, I have a coloring comparable to Nicole Richie-- I have dark dark brown eyes and medium-light blonde hair and am of Italian and French descent. Just tried 07 Bare Natural and it was too "white/masky" on me. My undereye discoloration was more apparent too.

My veins definitely are green, so I have a warm undertone, but I never select the right foundation shade. My cheeks have some pink, but my skin looks olive/ gold.

Any shade rcommendtons are so appreciated. I live in the middle of nowhere, so I am unable to be colorprinted.

Thanks in advance.

Can this foundation be successfully applied using the fingertips? I do get tired of all the special brush needs ...I feel this might be a marketing thing to get us to spend more

Soooo... I am going to answer my own question ...I thank you everyone one for their answers - but for those pondering the conflicting views here; I am very happy with finger tip application. It IS even, NOT streaky in the least. I do LOVE this foundation. So my advice to anyone else wondering the very same thing is - if you don't already have the brush & have a limited budget ...but you really wanna try the foundation - try it! Use fingertip application for starters. If you aren't quite happy with that, get the brush when you can afford to. I'm very happy w/o the brush. Sometimes after application I buff my flawless face brush over my face for good measure but really just as an after thought. I honestly don't feel it's necessary.

You can apply with fingertips. However I don't recommend it. If you want a pretty finish use the brush. Bare Minerals always recommends a brush. They started marketing their products with a brush and that's for a reason. 1, you don't waste product and 2 it goes on much easier and more even. Hope this helps!

No i would not recommend using your fingers because since it is a type of foundation that sits on top of your skin and not go into your pores it will probably leave many streaks and not go on evenly. The brush is very expensive, but i do use it all the time. But i feel it would be fine if you use a cheaper brush and it will apply just fine. Hope that helped!

Yes, I use my fingers because the "special brush" starts stinking if you don't clean it after every 1-2 times of using it. Fingertips work fine for me.

I usually buy brushes for my different kinds of BE makeups, but I use my fingertips for this. I think it goes on better and blends well by using my hands.

I would advise against using your finger tips and stick to a brush. I use a flat head powder brush to blend out my foundation which works beautifully with liquid foundations. The "special" brush does not work well especially if you're in a hurry to slap on your makeup.
Stick to a well designed, dense, kabuki or powder brush.

No, it is a separate item. However, if you do not want to buy the brush, I know some people also use their fingers or a makeup sponge.

Brush is sold separately. I've used my fingers to get heavier coverage, but for whole face application the brush is necessary. I haven't tried a regular foundation brush yet, but that might also work.

BareSkin will work great for your dryness. If you need the correct color you must go to place where they sell it and have one of the knowledgeable attendants help you. They have a special hand held machine that can determine the correct tone and color of your unique skin.

The next shade lighter than Bare Natural 07 (a Medium shade with neutral undertones) is Bare Linen 03 (a Light shade with neutral undertones). It doesn't have any red to it. You can warm it up with some bronzer if it is a bit too light.

I absolutely love this foundation, except for the bottle. :( I love that a little goes a long way, but when product randomly oozes out and down the side, wasting DAYS of foundation, it's hard to convince me to purchase again. I haven't been able to figure out what causes it, as it seems random. I've tried shaking less, tried shaking more.... but it's just so frustrating to take off the lid and see foundation pouring down the side uncontrollably. PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS SOMETHING I CAN DO TO PREVENT IT.

I have found that if I shake the bottle by holding the top and bottom, I don't have the leakage problem. If I shake it by holding it in the middle, I have a tendency to squeeze the bottle as I shake. This seems to be where the eruption issue comes from, at least for me. The less pressure put on the sides of the bottle while shaking, the better.

I have had the same problem as you. I have pretty good luck if I open the lid a bit (like opening a soda) close it back up and then shake it lightly and tap the bottom on my vanity a couple times before I open it again. I also hold it at the top and shake it like you would ring a bell instead of shaking it like a can of spray paint.

This is what works for me!
