Q & A

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 682 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by The WORST! I wanted to love this foundation as it is so light and lovely, but it is a disaster. I would imagine if you are blessed with perfect skin, Bareskin is probably a dream for you because it is light and when first applied looks gorgeous, but within a short time of application it looks horrific. The coverage is light, at best. There is hardly any coverage and the more you put on, the worse it looks. It streaks something fierce when you apply it with a brush (I tried several great brushes and nothing worked for me), it was slightly better when I applied it with my fingers, but still not ideal. The worst part is that is sinks into your pores and it looks like you have all these little dots of foundation on your face. I do not have huge pores and this made them look enormous. Another issue is that, even when it is set with either mineral veil or the original powder foundation, it rubs off on everything - your clothes, your hands, your kid when you give them a kiss. I tried everything to get this to work, with primer, without primer, applied with a brush, without a brush, setting it with a number of different powders and it was just a big fail for me. Buyer beware if you have normal sized pores, any dry skin (it accentuates and collects in these two things), or you do not want your foundation rubbing off on everything. :-( 09/27/2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by oily mess? laid the product on its side and it started seeping oil everywhere... shook the product and tried to use but the consistency had turned to an oily mess I could not use. Maybe I just got a faulty bottle but this is very disappointing considering the cost of the product :/ 09/22/2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by So disappointed I have been a Bare Minerals girl for years and years and swear by the tried and true foundation. When the brightening serum was introduced as a foundation, I knew I had to try it. Perhaps I am just too used to how the powder foundation brushes on, but I found applying this foundation serum time consuming and difficult to apply evenly. It streaked and became chalky looking. It just would not apply evenly on my skin. I thought perhaps I had neglected a step and tried again using primer and the same thing happened. I'm sure it is a lovely product, just not for me. Back to the original for me. :( 09/17/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by A true winner For years I had been using liquid foundation and was dead set on it. I heard about Bare Minerals powder and thought, let's see what it's about. I have not used any other beans since then. I had been debating on the liquid foundation being so happy with the powder. I finally gave it a try and am so happy with this foundation. It feels light and can be adjusted to light or full coverage. It looks great and lasts all day. Thanks for putting out products that enhance our looks and make us feel beautiful. Love it. 09/16/2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great product BUT it STINKS! I love Bare Minerals and use it almost exclusively. Was really excited to try this foundation. My only complaint is the smell. 09/11/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beauty in a Bottle This is a great product. I have spent lots of $$$ trying numerous liquid foundations from many top retailers. BareMinerals BareSkin provides perfect & light coverage for a flawless, beautiful look. It is an oil free product which promotes healthy, acne free skin. Coverage is long lasting meaning my blemishes and/or tired skin doesn't show even after a 10 hour work day. And with my ever changing work schedule I need something I can apply quickly and this product is perfect. Love It! 09/02/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Airbrush look and feel I've been a long time customer and have been using the original powder. I wanted a liquid foundation and love this one. Makes your skin feel soft and smooth. Great coverage without the made up look. However, I apply very lightly. Two drops is all I need. It covers up age spots without having to use coverup. Shaking the bottle with the cap on is messy and yes, it gets all over and leaks. But here's a simple solution. Take the cover off, cover the dispensing hole with your index finger and shake to your heart's content. The problem with the bottle is the cover. It should have a protrusion inside the cap to plug the dispensing hole. The only problem I find with all Bare products is that you have a choice of neutral, cool or warm. The neutral lacks the depth it should have. With this foundation, it is actually ghosting. The warm is too yellow and I don't wear cool. So it's always a bit of a challenge to get matched, and even then, I find I have to do layering to tone down the yellow a bit without darkening my complexion. Still working on that. I personally don't find the sales associates at the boutiques very helpful. I actually went to Sephora and found my match on my own. Otherwise, I love the products for their pure ingredients and they're cruelty free! 08/29/2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great....but. This product surprised me because I've used powder for so long. It is very good to cover sun spots, blemishes or other ugly things on the face. My gripe, as with others, is the bottle. It's messy, loss of product. Also, the bottle is definitely hard to squeeze if you want just one drop. My skin is combination, mature and because of too much sun, splotchy. This product can be used heavy or light depending on what my skin needs. The brush is perfect for this product as well. Just, please, fix the packaging! 08/22/2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not Good I loved the bare minerals powder foundation but wanted to try this liquid. I gave it two stars because when first applies it looks beautiful! After three hours it settled around fine lines as well as around my mouth and eyebrows. It also was already gone in many spots on my face. I had also applied a setting powder. Even my husband noticed this and said I don't like it at all. It was also disappointing calling customer service and not being able to get free shipping for a item i was very dissatisfied with. I will never order from the website again : ( I will order online from Sephora. 08/18/2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice foundation! This is a really nice foundation... I love the way it just glides on. It gives great coverage too. I would have given it a 5 star review if it came in a bottle that didn't leak. For some reason the product backs out of the bottle and makes a mess in the lid. Other than this, I really like it. 08/08/2016

i shake it very well and then nothing comes out until I stick a pin into the nozzle. Then, it seems to spew out a large drop and make a mess, but then when I turn into over and try to dispense onto brush-it's stuck again. I have to do this over and over and it's messy. I am considering changing to a different brand even though I love this product

I'm going to answer my own question. According to EWGSkinDeep, the titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are sunscreen grade, non-nano.

I would recommend you going to a boutique and have one of the associates there help you with matching you. I had done the matching on line and was ready to order the resulting shade but decided to take a visit to a boutique, just in case, and the shade she matched me to was not even close to what I was looking to purchase on line.

Hi. I use it in circular motion. It feels good, but also distributes the foundation perfectly. Just a small amount goes a long way with the brush.

Answer:
The best way to apply with a brush is by using circular buffing strokes in an upward motion. this pulls the glow of your face upward and outward rather than pulling you down. Try not to blend out the areas that you need more coverage too much. By slightly tapping on these areas with the brush rather than rubbing you can get more coverage without looking cakey. Hope this helps!

Powder foundation is good for oily skin in general but the Blemish Remedy foundation contains tea tree oil and aspen bark which are really good for preventing and treating acne. It's basically the same as their normal powder foundation but with the added goodies to help acne prone skin!

I have oily skin too and this product did not pair well with it. I love the matte powder foundation. I need a liquid and powder foundation to get enough coverage but if you only need one I would go with the matte powder. This product is thin and probably not good for blemishes. Im currently trying to find a new liquid foundation so i cant suggest a good one for you. Hope I helped!

I use both and either can use be used on mature skin. I think it depends on what kind of coverage you want. CR is like a tinted moisturizer/BB cream and BS is a lightweight foundation.

bareSkin by far. I tried the other product and it did not produce the coverage, finish or look I want for my mature skin. My girlfriend tried it as well and her outcome was the same. I returned my Complexion Rescue and exchanged it for bareSkin.

I really love the Bareskin foundation (I use Bare Latte), but I find it never really seems to "set". Even hours later, like if I wipe my mouth after eating, some product comes off on the napkin. I worry about it rubbing off on my clothes in case they come in contact. I don't use a lot (maybe 2-3 drops for whole face) and dust on mineral veil after. It looks great, so why doesn't it seem to "dry"? Am I doing something wrong, or should I be doing something else?

It might have something to do with the moisturizing factor. I use a setting spray and that prevents the rub off you're describing.

Answer:
I would try 1-2 drops of the product first and buff it in with the brush REALLY, REALLY well. I start off with one drop, buff it in all over and if I feel I need more, I add that second drop. I never wear more than two drops.
However if you're still noticing transfer perhaps your skin is just on the oily side. Mine is dry dry DRY and it doesn't ever come off for me. Try some oil blotting sheets and see if that helps. It is after all, a 'serum'. It's not supposed to fully set; the serum helps give it a glow.

I don't use this product but maybe your natural face oils are not allowing the product to set well. I would try a primer and/or a setting spray or finishing powder!

Answer:
Use less. Start with one drop and be sure to buff in with the special reservoir brush. Top it off with Mineral Veil and be sure to apply evenly over your entire face. it you require more coverage use two drops. I find I never need more than that. Also, you might want to check what moisturizer you are apply over. If it is on the greasy side, it will certainly add to your issue.

Answer:
Hi walkmom, I have found that this foundation can come off it not setted properly. I would try applying the complexion rescue, then a finishing powder or mineral veil, then spraying a drug store makeup finishing spray. They are a clear liquid that you spray on your face after your makeup is completely done to keep it from rubbing off, dripping from sweat, etc. I stand by my NYX finishing spray from Target. You just spray it on when you're completely done, then let it dry (make sure to close your eyes when you do this and avoid getting it in your hair). I hope this helps!
