Q & A

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 706 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Bare Ivory 04 Liquid Foundation I tried Bare Ivory 04 and the color just didn't match. It also left my skin feeling really tight and dry. Aside from the color, the foundation was so obvious because of how flaky it appeared. 01/16/2017
Rated 2 out of 5 by Love the product, packaging is horrible Well...this is the best foundation I've tried in years, but the packaging is pathetic. It leaks all over if not upright (yes, I have cap on tight). I dropped it in my sink and it literally broke in half. So odd, cuz it's pliable plastic. I had an old primer pump container I used for what I managed to salvage, which seems to be much better!!! For $30, I'd expect better packaging. 01/15/2017
Rated 2 out of 5 by Have used for years I love this product and have used it for years but I just purchased a new bottle this december and the bottle has been redesigned. The mouth for the bottle is now much larger and the makeup leaks out constantly. It has to be upright all of the time in order to avoid leaks. It's an extreme waste of money to have makeup all over everything, not to mention extremely annoying. I take my makeup with me to different events in a makeup bag and it's basically exploding anytime it is laid on it's side or even angled. I am very disappointed in the redesign and hope they go back to the smaller mouthed bottle or I will have to switch to a different company for my liquid foundation. It is a messy waste of money. 01/09/2017
Rated 4 out of 5 by Where's the stuff? This foundation is pure perfection and I love it dearly but how do I get the product out of the bottle? If I after shaking it turn the bottle upside down nothing's happening. If I try to squeeze it the same happens - nothing, since the plastic bottle is hard and not meant for squeezing. What remains? Only to use mild violence which results in product splashing all over the place. At that stage I - to save my sanity - reach for another less perfect foundation wondering it this is how you planned it. You ever heard about a pump? Sorry on so good apples. 01/04/2017
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great Coverage but it smells! New to this product. Love the coverage and the brush that goes with it, but the smell is horrible. Smells musty, I really want to like and use this product but having a hard time with the smell. 01/02/2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful foundation but horrible packaging I've been using this foundation for 2 years now and I honesty love it but I've always found it hard to use with the poor packaging. Please put a pump on it instead or put it in a tube. Because this foundation is amazing and that's the only reason why I continue to keep re-purchasing it even with the packaging issues because it's Such a pain to use and it's messy and gets everywhere 01/01/2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Skin feels so soft and silky At first I didn't know if I would like a liquid foundation since I had been using Bare Minerals powders for so many years. I LOVE it!! I use medium/full coverage. I would recommend the bareSkin Serum for anyone, but especially for the older generation with dry skin and/or uneven skin tone. The foundation does not settle into lines. I'm almost 70 and I love the fact that I can wear this without even looking like I have any makeup on at all. Very natural, soft and silky. Please don't ever discontinue this product. It would be very difficult to replace. 12/30/2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Coverage great Bottle application aweful. You need to develop an easier way for us ladies to use this foundation. 12/28/2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Biggest mess! This makeup bottle has the worst design! It leaks everywhere! My makeup bag is ruined and all my other makeup and brushes are constantly covered by this leaking bottle. I finally tried storing it upright in the medicine cabinet and then put it in a plastic baggy when traveling but the way it is designed, (shake it a little before applying it) it leaks all out the top and gets caked around the top and then when you put the lid back on it squishes out all the sides. Half the product is wasted because it's all over your hands and everything. So rediculous! 12/26/2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Love it Love the product, it's great. Fabulous coverage, goes on smoothly & stays all day. The packaging leaves a little to be desired though. When you "Shake Well" as instructed, the product oozes out of the bottle & goes to waste. Great marketing idea, get customers to buy more because most of it ends up on the counter! (Sarcasm) Please, please, please change the packaging. 12/23/2016

i shake it very well and then nothing comes out until I stick a pin into the nozzle. Then, it seems to spew out a large drop and make a mess, but then when I turn into over and try to dispense onto brush-it's stuck again. I have to do this over and over and it's messy. I am considering changing to a different brand even though I love this product

I'm going to answer my own question. According to EWGSkinDeep, the titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are sunscreen grade, non-nano.

I would recommend you going to a boutique and have one of the associates there help you with matching you. I had done the matching on line and was ready to order the resulting shade but decided to take a visit to a boutique, just in case, and the shade she matched me to was not even close to what I was looking to purchase on line.

Hi. I use it in circular motion. It feels good, but also distributes the foundation perfectly. Just a small amount goes a long way with the brush.

Answer:
The best way to apply with a brush is by using circular buffing strokes in an upward motion. this pulls the glow of your face upward and outward rather than pulling you down. Try not to blend out the areas that you need more coverage too much. By slightly tapping on these areas with the brush rather than rubbing you can get more coverage without looking cakey. Hope this helps!

I have combination skin (but mostly oily) and am blemish prone, so is this foundation good for that? I currently use the matte powder foundation, so which is better for my more oily skin type?

I would say no. This foundation made me break out in acne, an issue I typically don't have an issue with, so I would theorize, it would not be a good match for oily skin.

Answer:
Powder foundation is good for oily skin in general but the Blemish Remedy foundation contains tea tree oil and aspen bark which are really good for preventing and treating acne. It's basically the same as their normal powder foundation but with the added goodies to help acne prone skin!

I have oily skin too and this product did not pair well with it. I love the matte powder foundation. I need a liquid and powder foundation to get enough coverage but if you only need one I would go with the matte powder. This product is thin and probably not good for blemishes. Im currently trying to find a new liquid foundation so i cant suggest a good one for you. Hope I helped!

I use both and either can use be used on mature skin. I think it depends on what kind of coverage you want. CR is like a tinted moisturizer/BB cream and BS is a lightweight foundation.

bareSkin by far. I tried the other product and it did not produce the coverage, finish or look I want for my mature skin. My girlfriend tried it as well and her outcome was the same. I returned my Complexion Rescue and exchanged it for bareSkin.

I really love the Bareskin foundation (I use Bare Latte), but I find it never really seems to "set". Even hours later, like if I wipe my mouth after eating, some product comes off on the napkin. I worry about it rubbing off on my clothes in case they come in contact. I don't use a lot (maybe 2-3 drops for whole face) and dust on mineral veil after. It looks great, so why doesn't it seem to "dry"? Am I doing something wrong, or should I be doing something else?

It might have something to do with the moisturizing factor. I use a setting spray and that prevents the rub off you're describing.

Answer:
I would try 1-2 drops of the product first and buff it in with the brush REALLY, REALLY well. I start off with one drop, buff it in all over and if I feel I need more, I add that second drop. I never wear more than two drops.
However if you're still noticing transfer perhaps your skin is just on the oily side. Mine is dry dry DRY and it doesn't ever come off for me. Try some oil blotting sheets and see if that helps. It is after all, a 'serum'. It's not supposed to fully set; the serum helps give it a glow.

I don't use this product but maybe your natural face oils are not allowing the product to set well. I would try a primer and/or a setting spray or finishing powder!

Answer:
Use less. Start with one drop and be sure to buff in with the special reservoir brush. Top it off with Mineral Veil and be sure to apply evenly over your entire face. it you require more coverage use two drops. I find I never need more than that. Also, you might want to check what moisturizer you are apply over. If it is on the greasy side, it will certainly add to your issue.

Answer:
Hi walkmom, I have found that this foundation can come off it not setted properly. I would try applying the complexion rescue, then a finishing powder or mineral veil, then spraying a drug store makeup finishing spray. They are a clear liquid that you spray on your face after your makeup is completely done to keep it from rubbing off, dripping from sweat, etc. I stand by my NYX finishing spray from Target. You just spray it on when you're completely done, then let it dry (make sure to close your eyes when you do this and avoid getting it in your hair). I hope this helps!
