Q & A

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 675 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great....but. This product surprised me because I've used powder for so long. It is very good to cover sun spots, blemishes or other ugly things on the face. My gripe, as with others, is the bottle. It's messy, loss of product. Also, the bottle is definitely hard to squeeze if you want just one drop. My skin is combination, mature and because of too much sun, splotchy. This product can be used heavy or light depending on what my skin needs. The brush is perfect for this product as well. Just, please, fix the packaging! 08/22/2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not Good I loved the bare minerals powder foundation but wanted to try this liquid. I gave it two stars because when first applies it looks beautiful! After three hours it settled around fine lines as well as around my mouth and eyebrows. It also was already gone in many spots on my face. I had also applied a setting powder. Even my husband noticed this and said I don't like it at all. It was also disappointing calling customer service and not being able to get free shipping for a item i was very dissatisfied with. I will never order from the website again : ( I will order online from Sephora. 08/18/2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice foundation! This is a really nice foundation... I love the way it just glides on. It gives great coverage too. I would have given it a 5 star review if it came in a bottle that didn't leak. For some reason the product backs out of the bottle and makes a mess in the lid. Other than this, I really like it. 08/08/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Skin Brightening Foundation By far, this is some of the best foundation I've ever used and having been a makeup artist for years, I've used numerous foundations. I get many compliments on my skin when wearing this. People who don't know me think I'm in my early 30's (48) and many have said my skin looks like a baby's skin (both men & women). I owe it mostly to this foundation. In the summer I wear Bare Buff and the winter, Bare Cream and transition with Bare Satin. It really does provide the skin with a flawless effect when wearing. Ok, all this being said, the bottle is totally lacking in dispensation of the product. With all the bottles, I must constantly insert a needle into the opening, even though there is plenty of product left in the bottle. Store personnel have told me about the tiny bead and yes, I've gotten past that too and it's not the problem. When I insert the needle, a lot of product shoots out. With this foundation, only a minute amount is needed for full coverage, which is awesome but, with the packaging it's almost impossible to get the needed amount without overdoing it. I LOVE the foundation but, until there is better packaging, I'll wait before I make another purchase. 08/07/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best foundation I have ever had. This product is the best foundation I have ever used. I personally like to keep the all natural look and this product does that for me. I use it before applying a little of the powder foundation for extra coverage but with it alone is great coverage depending on the drops used. I used to get a lot of acne due to the other foundations I bought but the bareSkin is the only one that has not irritated my skin. I will most certainly continue buying it. 08/02/2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Great Product, horrible packaging I really loved this product. As someone always scared of liquid foundation, this product changed my mind. My main gripe and the reason I will not purchase this product again is the packaging. I've probably lost a third of the product due to the poor bottle design. I also cannot travel with it as it is such a mess. I've switched my foundations to a completely different brand but will come back to this if the bottle ever gets fixed. 08/02/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for aging skin! I love using bareSkin under my Bare Minerals powder foundation. It evens out the discolorations of my aging skin and helps hide some of my wrinkles. It gives me a smooth even complexion and then I use my powder foundation to "perfect" that look. It lasts all day long and doesn't cake or collect in wrinkles or creases either. I use the neutral tone with medium beige and that combination works well. Although I'm in my early 60's, I often have compliments on how nice my skin looks! 07/18/2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Thought I was so over liquid foundations.... I have been a Bare Minerals woman for years. After many bad experiences with liquid foundations...sloppiness, bad color choices, and long drying times. I started with your ORIGINAL Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 and found it to be incredible. Then I tried your MATTE Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15. It was ok. I just prefer more radiance provided by the ORIGINAL. Then I tried READY® Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 it wasn't for me, either. My latest purchase was bareSkin® Pure Brightening Serum. I LOVE it! I can control the coverage, great color, amazing application... my only issue with it is my eyeliner and mascara tend to smudge. I use your WELL RESTED, as well. More raves... the tinted Prime Time® BB Primer-Cream Daily Defense... ingenious!!!! 07/10/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by BUY THIS NOW! I was hesitant to purchase a different foundation than the one I had been using for years (CoverGirl Try Blend), but I had a gift card to a salon that sold Bare Minerals and I decided to treat myself. I read the reviews and wasn't sure I'd like it but I went for it anyways. This foundation is extremely light feeling but gives a lot of coverage without using a ton. I bought the Heavenly Face brush to use instead of the recommended one and I like it. I've always just used my fingers to blend makeup in and I'm so glad I got the brush too. If you are considering this foundation and I want good coverage that feels AMAZING, then this product is for you! 06/24/2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Great coverage and appearance; terrible effect on skin When I first received this product at home, I was pretty excited about it. I had watched the online video about how to apply it and had purchased the correct brush recommended for application. Both worked really well together and applied the makeup evenly and smoothly. this makeup doesn't settle into creases during the day, and I thought I had discovered my new favorite foundation. However, within 24 hours, I had a large pimple on my chin. Attributing that to any number of factors, I kept using the makeup and within another day, my entire chin broke out. by the end of the week, I had to cease using the makeup and it took another week for my skin to completely calm down and go back to break-out free. I have never had sensitive skin or major break-outs, so I would say this formulation is particularly non-skin friendly. I had to throw it away. Very disappointed. 06/22/2016

i shake it very well and then nothing comes out until I stick a pin into the nozzle. Then, it seems to spew out a large drop and make a mess, but then when I turn into over and try to dispense onto brush-it's stuck again. I have to do this over and over and it's messy. I am considering changing to a different brand even though I love this product

I'm going to answer my own question. According to EWGSkinDeep, the titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are sunscreen grade, non-nano.

I would recommend you going to a boutique and have one of the associates there help you with matching you. I had done the matching on line and was ready to order the resulting shade but decided to take a visit to a boutique, just in case, and the shade she matched me to was not even close to what I was looking to purchase on line.

Hi. I use it in circular motion. It feels good, but also distributes the foundation perfectly. Just a small amount goes a long way with the brush.

Answer:
The best way to apply with a brush is by using circular buffing strokes in an upward motion. this pulls the glow of your face upward and outward rather than pulling you down. Try not to blend out the areas that you need more coverage too much. By slightly tapping on these areas with the brush rather than rubbing you can get more coverage without looking cakey. Hope this helps!

Powder foundation is good for oily skin in general but the Blemish Remedy foundation contains tea tree oil and aspen bark which are really good for preventing and treating acne. It's basically the same as their normal powder foundation but with the added goodies to help acne prone skin!

I have oily skin too and this product did not pair well with it. I love the matte powder foundation. I need a liquid and powder foundation to get enough coverage but if you only need one I would go with the matte powder. This product is thin and probably not good for blemishes. Im currently trying to find a new liquid foundation so i cant suggest a good one for you. Hope I helped!

I use both and either can use be used on mature skin. I think it depends on what kind of coverage you want. CR is like a tinted moisturizer/BB cream and BS is a lightweight foundation.

bareSkin by far. I tried the other product and it did not produce the coverage, finish or look I want for my mature skin. My girlfriend tried it as well and her outcome was the same. I returned my Complexion Rescue and exchanged it for bareSkin.

I really love the Bareskin foundation (I use Bare Latte), but I find it never really seems to "set". Even hours later, like if I wipe my mouth after eating, some product comes off on the napkin. I worry about it rubbing off on my clothes in case they come in contact. I don't use a lot (maybe 2-3 drops for whole face) and dust on mineral veil after. It looks great, so why doesn't it seem to "dry"? Am I doing something wrong, or should I be doing something else?

It might have something to do with the moisturizing factor. I use a setting spray and that prevents the rub off you're describing.

Answer:
I would try 1-2 drops of the product first and buff it in with the brush REALLY, REALLY well. I start off with one drop, buff it in all over and if I feel I need more, I add that second drop. I never wear more than two drops.
However if you're still noticing transfer perhaps your skin is just on the oily side. Mine is dry dry DRY and it doesn't ever come off for me. Try some oil blotting sheets and see if that helps. It is after all, a 'serum'. It's not supposed to fully set; the serum helps give it a glow.

I don't use this product but maybe your natural face oils are not allowing the product to set well. I would try a primer and/or a setting spray or finishing powder!

Answer:
Use less. Start with one drop and be sure to buff in with the special reservoir brush. Top it off with Mineral Veil and be sure to apply evenly over your entire face. it you require more coverage use two drops. I find I never need more than that. Also, you might want to check what moisturizer you are apply over. If it is on the greasy side, it will certainly add to your issue.

Answer:
Hi walkmom, I have found that this foundation can come off it not setted properly. I would try applying the complexion rescue, then a finishing powder or mineral veil, then spraying a drug store makeup finishing spray. They are a clear liquid that you spray on your face after your makeup is completely done to keep it from rubbing off, dripping from sweat, etc. I stand by my NYX finishing spray from Target. You just spray it on when you're completely done, then let it dry (make sure to close your eyes when you do this and avoid getting it in your hair). I hope this helps!
