Q & A

bareSkin Pure Brightening Serum Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 - null 4 5 530 532
BareSkin Foundation I find this to be one of the best foundations I have ever used. I have stayed away from liquid foundations because I found them to clog my pores. This is not the case with bareSkin Foundation. My one complaint is that it is very difficult to determine when the product is running out. I believe either a clear container or maybe a clear strip along the side would be beneficial. 07/02/2015
Unnatural Looking I suffer from acne. Bumps and scars, the whole mess. I tried bare minerals powder and it looked cakey as I had to put quite a bit on since the coverage was awful. I gave bare minerals another shot and purchased bare skin. I was quite disapointed. The liquid is super oily which is messy and causes the already super oily parts of my face to breakout. It provides quite good coverage but it does not look natural. If you like the look of very luminous skin then this foundation is good. I prefer a more matte look. In the sunlight my skin looked WAY to shiny for my liking. It also is AWFUL for wrinkles. Im 21. I do not have wrinkles. However, when I raise my eyebrows I create lines on my forehead. The foundation sinks into these lines and creates the look of wrinkles which stay on my face until I re-blend. So every time I raise my eyebrows I have to reblend, which is more than annoying. This foundation also feels heavy for some reason. It has an apparent odor which is really annoying since im not one to wear heavy prefumes to mask the scent. Back to searching for a good everyday, natural looking acne covering foundation. 07/01/2015
Acne-prone peeps BEWARE I have used this product for the last month and a half and have loved it every single day. The last week I have gotten an uncontrollable about of large, red, puffy pimples - currently I have TEN! I took the product to the lady that does my facials, as this is the only thing I've really changed about my skin routine. She took one look at the ingredients and noticed right away that this was no good. "Coconut Alkanes are one of the most comedogenic ingredients." BEWARE PEOPLE! This product is advertised to be good for all skin types and NON-COMEDOGENIC, etc. etc. but it is not! 07/01/2015
Irritated My Skin I have sensitive skin and have never had problems with Bare Minerals original foundation. I decided to switch and give this a try and it irritated my face so badly! My face started burning and then tiny bumps started popping up. My entire face is bright read and HURTS it looks like I had a chemical peel! 06/19/2015
I wanted to love this product I tried this product for the first time today. The liquid is messy and coverage on your face is spotty. I've heard the good reviews and decided to try the product but it didn't work for me the first time. When I purchased the bottle I didn't buy the special brush that is supposed to be used so I just applied it with my fingers. Maybe if I had the brush it would have been better and easier to use. 06/11/2015
I really wanted to like this... I've been using bare minerals original foundation for the last decade and love it. I was really excited and intrigued when they launched bare skin because I've never used a liquid foundation but have always been curious. I ordered the starter kit that included the brush so many rave about. I was so excited when this arrived and immediately tried it out. Having not used a liquid before, I tried hard not to get discouraged when I hated the application the first time and optimistically said I'd try it again the next day when I had more time to play with it. After about 8 separate attempts to make this work, with primer, with cc cream, with nothing underneath, with and without mineral veil, and every single time I thought "there's no way I can actually wear this in public, I just feel weird with it on my face". The shade match was fine. It just feels strange and it's difficult to obtain decent coverage. The brush is a bust and I don't understand how people like it. It's just a total fail all the way around for me. I was highly disappointed. 06/09/2015
I love this product. When I first tried this product, I was surprised at how light it was on my skin. I can barely feel it. The really nice thing is that it covers blemishes (it's buildable!) and it has NO preservatives. I used to get such bad breakouts from face makeup, but not anymore! 06/08/2015
The Worst Product BM has ever made I have been using BM original foundation for years. And Glee and Mineral Veil. But Bare Skin is awful. I went to a Boutique to have it put on me. The coverage was way too heavy. You could see every line on my face. It never soaked in at all. It just sat there. I could wipe a finger across my cheek long after it was applied and it would wipe off like a lotion just put on. The boutique worker agreed it was way too much coverage for me. She even admitted that it was the most returned product they sell. 06/07/2015
Start out with a kit, you need the brush! I received a sample and thought what a mess! Why would I change from the powder mineral I have worn for at least 15 years. Well they had a kit with the 28.00 dollar brush so I tried it one more time! I love it it is great. I use wrinkle repair, moisturizer, liquid foundation a splash of bronzer and a lite cover of veil. The moxie lip color and some mascara. Sounds like a lot but literally 4 minutes and I am out the door! You need the brush. I shake the bottle remove the lid and use 1 drop, tap it lightly all over my face and smooth it with the brush the more the better when buffing. 06/06/2015
Love this, but please do something about the bottle!! I love this product!!! It feels great and looks great! Application is a breeze. There is only one problem, and that's the bottle...it leaks and makes a HUGE mess! Plus, it is causing me to waste a lot of the product. I read about this over and over on the online reviews, but decided to order anyway, vowing to be extra careful. Despite the fact I've been extra careful, it still leaks and I spend more time cleaning the bottle and the mess it makes than I do applying it. Please, BE, do something about this!!! Otherwise, I couldn't be happier with it! 06/06/2015

the best way is to go into a location and try things. take it home and see what works. if it doesn't, go back and try something else. Staff members are always helpful. i've done this maybe 3 or 4 times, until i found a shade that matched perfectly in store AND at home. hope this helps:)

If you have a makeup artist at Sephora or another makeup store kindly ask them to test it on your jawline and if it properly blends and is not noticeable it is most like your shade. DO NOT test it on your hand, you don't wear foundation on you hand so apply it on the face and if its not looking orange and not looking uneven with the rest of your face then go for it.

This happens to everyone sometimes! Exfoliation is very important, or else you have dead skin cells just sitting on top of your face. You should exfoliate a few times a week and moisturize as well.

I just recently purchased this product. I have never used Bare Minerals, so I am not sure if that is how it is supposed to look. Maybe the color is to dark. My forehead looked very oily to me and like the make up was caked on.

Sounds like you are applying the product to thick, it only take a LITTLE ..... try applying with a foundation brush instead of the application pad that comes with it.

Hi, I have a coloring comparable to Nicole Richie-- I have dark dark brown eyes and medium-light blonde hair and am of Italian and French descent. Just tried 07 Bare Natural and it was too "white/masky" on me. My undereye discoloration was more apparent too.

My veins definitely are green, so I have a warm undertone, but I never select the right foundation shade. My cheeks have some pink, but my skin looks olive/ gold.

Any shade rcommendtons are so appreciated. I live in the middle of nowhere, so I am unable to be colorprinted.

Thanks in advance.

Soooo... I am going to answer my own question ...I thank you everyone one for their answers - but for those pondering the conflicting views here; I am very happy with finger tip application. It IS even, NOT streaky in the least. I do LOVE this foundation. So my advice to anyone else wondering the very same thing is - if you don't already have the brush & have a limited budget ...but you really wanna try the foundation - try it! Use fingertip application for starters. If you aren't quite happy with that, get the brush when you can afford to. I'm very happy w/o the brush. Sometimes after application I buff my flawless face brush over my face for good measure but really just as an after thought. I honestly don't feel it's necessary.

You can apply with fingertips. However I don't recommend it. If you want a pretty finish use the brush. Bare Minerals always recommends a brush. They started marketing their products with a brush and that's for a reason. 1, you don't waste product and 2 it goes on much easier and more even. Hope this helps!

No i would not recommend using your fingers because since it is a type of foundation that sits on top of your skin and not go into your pores it will probably leave many streaks and not go on evenly. The brush is very expensive, but i do use it all the time. But i feel it would be fine if you use a cheaper brush and it will apply just fine. Hope that helped!

Yes, I use my fingers because the "special brush" starts stinking if you don't clean it after every 1-2 times of using it. Fingertips work fine for me.

I usually buy brushes for my different kinds of BE makeups, but I use my fingertips for this. I think it goes on better and blends well by using my hands.

I would advise against using your finger tips and stick to a brush. I use a flat head powder brush to blend out my foundation which works beautifully with liquid foundations. The "special" brush does not work well especially if you're in a hurry to slap on your makeup.
Stick to a well designed, dense, kabuki or powder brush.

Brush is sold separately. I've used my fingers to get heavier coverage, but for whole face application the brush is necessary. I haven't tried a regular foundation brush yet, but that might also work.

The next shade lighter than Bare Natural 07 (a Medium shade with neutral undertones) is Bare Linen 03 (a Light shade with neutral undertones). It doesn't have any red to it. You can warm it up with some bronzer if it is a bit too light.

I absolutely love this foundation, except for the bottle. :( I love that a little goes a long way, but when product randomly oozes out and down the side, wasting DAYS of foundation, it's hard to convince me to purchase again. I haven't been able to figure out what causes it, as it seems random. I've tried shaking less, tried shaking more.... but it's just so frustrating to take off the lid and see foundation pouring down the side uncontrollably. PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS SOMETHING I CAN DO TO PREVENT IT.

I have found that if I shake the bottle by holding the top and bottom, I don't have the leakage problem. If I shake it by holding it in the middle, I have a tendency to squeeze the bottle as I shake. This seems to be where the eruption issue comes from, at least for me. The less pressure put on the sides of the bottle while shaking, the better.

I have had the same problem as you. I have pretty good luck if I open the lid a bit (like opening a soda) close it back up and then shake it lightly and tap the bottom on my vanity a couple times before I open it again. I also hold it at the top and shake it like you would ring a bell instead of shaking it like a can of spray paint.

This is what works for me!
