Q & A
Well-Rested Eye Brightener Broad Spectrum SPF 20 4.7 5 38 38
Don't let yourself be swindled. What a joke this product is! I was conned into buying this product by one of the sales associates at the Bare Escentuals store (when I only went in to accompany my mother - with no intention of buying any make-up!) because she said it made my dark circles disappear and it brightened my whole face. I explained to the associate that I do have some very fine lines under my eyes and that most concealers, especially anything powdered or drying, made my undereyes look crepey. She said I only need to apply this with one of their brushes and use my finger to tap it into place because the heat from my hand helped my skin absorb the minerals. She also convinced me that a little moisturizer and the primer used before hand on my eyes would lock in the moisture under my eyes and prevent my eyes from looking crepey. Ladies, don't be fooled. There's a reason the lighting in those stores is soft and dim - it makes it harder to see the imperfections the product is actually drawing out on your face. I'm only 27, and, like most women, I want to CONCEAL my little imperfections, not draw them out. This powder concealer makes the skin under your eyes dryer - emphasizing every nook and cranny. This was after I applied my moisturizer and a primer. I want to keep my youthful skin, not suck the life out of it. I have a genetic predisposition to dark circles and the lines are very fine, almost unnoticeable on a regular basis. But applying this product has aged me by 10 years. Not to mention the fact that it is so much lighter than my foundation (and I have very fair skin - Bare Porcelain on the BE make-up scale) that I look like I'm putting white pan make-up on (which I've actually done before with less drastic results). I looked like an old jaundiced clown in my mirror at home this morning. Suffice it to say, this product will be going back. I think I'll return to my Philosophy make-up from here on out. 09/15/2014
How to look well-rested when you're not! I so love this product. It goes on sort of light and creamy but gives great coverage and it really brightens up my tired old dark eyes. I have both the cream stick and this powder and both are great, but this little powder is my favorite. The creator of Bare Minerals Well-Rested is a genius and I'd love to give them a hug for bringing this little miracle in my life! There will never be a better eye concealer product on the market and anyone else who struggles with the daily dark circles needs this product in their beauty arsenal! 07/06/2014
Light and bright I love this concealer, I actually use this as more than a concealer. Once I have used my cream concealer and put my foundation on, I use a fluffy brush to pat this under my eyes and downwards just slightly and also in a cross shape across the middle of my forehead and down the bridge of my nose for contour. This method works like a charm and makes my face looks bright as well as keeping those unwanted dark veins under my eyes muted. 03/19/2014
Multi-Purpose I use this product when I have the time to really focus on make-up. I use this as my first layer for concealer for under eye circles and large zits. My eyelids are just as blotchy and red as my face, so I like to use this as a base coat for eye shadow on occasion. Beware though, you will have to put on a lot more eye shadow to get the same color intensity when you use this on your eyelids. There are advantages though, like natural sunscreen for you eye area that does not melt into your eyes and burn! The only reason I gave this a 4 out of 5 is because it has yellow undertones (I have pink undertones) and this requires me to cover it with foundation every time I use it, which adds time to my morning routine. 03/11/2014
What Circles?! I bought this with SOME skepticism in mind. I love Bare Minerals, they're my go to product all of the time. So, I was skeptical because everyone says this eye product is great and this other product is great. Anyways, I tried this one day when I had maybe 2 hours of sleep for a 10 hour shift, my dark circles looked bad. I put this on under my foundation....sincerely surprised. You could not even tell I hadn't slept well, this brightened under my eyes so nicely WITHOUT that weird "I've obviously caked on a light shadow under my eyes and created a white raccoon" effect. This blends beautifully without that weird ultra bright raccoon effect some products give you. I even use it to highlight my brow bones, my nose, my cupid's bow and just above the cheekbone for some subtle light. It even helps cover a red spot, pimple or a dark patch on your face pretty darn well. Amazing! So happy! 02/23/2014
Fabulous! I love this product! Actually I love all BE products. This one is awesome because its a sunscreen, concealer, eye brightener and redness reducer all in one. It's got great coverage and great for all skin types. It hides my acne spots well. 01/28/2014
More uses than you know! I actually use this concealer to cover the red blemishes that I've gotten over the years from various medications, as well as using it to cover some age spots and brighten up those pesky dark circles under my eyes. Works great under my Original foundation powder. For really dark red spots, I mix it with just a little light green matte eye shadow! 01/27/2014
What dark circles? I'm very genetically lucky, as I have never gotten dark circles no how matter how late I was up the night before. HOWEVER, this is the favorite item in my make-up bag. It is a better concealer than any I've tried before. I also use it along my nose, and it adds brightness wherever needed. It blends beautifully with all the other BM products. I could go without a lot of products, but I can't imagine living without this one! 12/28/2013
beware the glitter! This would be a slam dunk & HG under eye powder if it weren't for the glitter in it. In direct light you can really see it - looks like shimmery eye shadow! Why?! bareMinerals, grown women don't want glitter on their faces. Wish they would stop adding it to so many products. Glittery is NOT brightening, it is just… glitter. The tricky part is that it you can't see it in unnatural, indoor light. I thought it looked fabulous in the store mirror. Blurs lines & adds coverage. But then outside in sunlight you look like a crazy person. Too bad. 12/05/2013
No more dark circles I got this product when I was a college student--a student who rarely got eight hours of sleep due to work and school commitments. This product was my lifeline---it hid dark circles and undereye bags like a charm. I always looked rested and awake when I used this--I used to trick my friends into thinking I always got plenty of sleep! 11/18/2013

I've heard great things about this. I often get dark circles under my eyes due to lack of sleep (thanks college), but if this doubles as a concealer it's a must have! So, does it?

I'm new to the world of makeup and new to BM as well and lately I've been really liking the conturing and highlighting look. I've heard that well-rested eye brightener works for highlighting? i mean can an eye brightener be used for highlighting other areas other than the eye area?

Hi AriaAnchorage Ak,

As a loyal user of the Stroke of Light Eye Brightener, I would say using it for coverage on other areas of the face than the eye area may not really hold up when compared to some of the cheek tints, etc. It is just the right amount of highlight for smaller areas such as the far and near corners of the eyes. Even wiping a longer stroke and blending from the corner of the eyes downwards I find helps contour and narrow the nose bridge. I have heard of some using it in the cupid's bow to provide subtle highlight there.

I use a Flawless Face brush to apply this - maybe the size of this brush is a bit overkill, but it works. I use the same Swirl & Tap process that BE suggests, and then I close each eye and lightly buff it both underneath and over the eyelid. After that, I use my fingers to squeeze the brush into a thick line and get up to the eyelashes for all around brightness.

Just as you would any of the items - take a small brush (I like the baby buki) take a small amount of well-rested and swirl and tap. Just lightly brush over each eyelid. You're done!

The consultant suggested a large eye blending brush. I was not looking to purchase a brush, but glad I did. The blending brush is easy to apply gently all around the eye.

I use a small full flawless face brush(mini sized) and do large circles around the entire up from under the circle to just under the brow. That is the technique they use in the boutiques.

Use one of the BM brushes and apply to upper and lower areas above the eye and below. You will be truly surprised at how well it extends the wear of your eye shadow and eye liner after application as well as lightening and evening out your colors.

Hi,

I'm not sure if someone's answered this or not, but I'm gonna give it a go! You can use a small powder brush of your choice, preferably a soft bristled one so the product spreads easier and isn't so harsh on your face. I've been using the product anywhere I want to highlight. I know it says it's for your under eyes, but it does wonders all over your face. Try using a small brush and putting it underneath your eyes and blending out toward the top of your cheekbone as well as down toward your nose. You can put it on the bridge of your nose, bow of your lips, inner corner of your eyes and your brow bone, too. Have fun with it!! xo

in the same way as foundation powder (slight-medium coverage). But let me to advise you to try this product in the store to see if it fits you. I also wanted to buy this but when I tryed this I saw it is too light for me, I looked like the panda with this, though my tone of the skin is fairly-light . Also "Well Rested" accentuated all wrinkles under my eyes. But some people love this, so it is better to try this before purchase

Since you have super sensitive skin, you may have to try a few different things. The Correcting concealer (the creamy version) works well under my eyes to even out skin tone, as does the Stroke of Light. The Well Rested Powder does some concealing, but in my experience it does not last all-day without either the concealer or Stroke of Light underneath.

Concealer means it will conceal - the well-rested is more for brightening. My suggestion - use well-rested on eyelids to brighten, concealer under eyes to cover the dark circles.

If you have light circles the powder well rested will work but if they are dark it will help but will not cover. My dad has dark circles and I inherited them. I used to use the stick type of concealer to cover them but with bare minerals a little goes a long way so if you have bad circles you could probably use a few dabs of the concealer and put well rested on top. That is what I do and it is not noticable at all. The well rested tends to brighten as opposed to actual concealing.

My personal choice is the Well-Rested as it not only protects the sensitive eye area; but evens out the tone of the entire area, and I brush it on the upper and lower eye areas.

If you act right away, I just purchased the Wellrested trio for only $15. You must purchase online and you will receive wellrested concealer and wellrested eye brightener and the application brush. Wellrested is my favorite product but maybe you may need a separate sunscreen. God bless you

I've purchased both concealer and the Well-Rested Eye Brightener, and I find that Well-Rested works sooooo much better for me than the concealer. I use the "Maximum Coverage Face Brush." This brush helps TREMENDOUSLY in covering things up. It's much better than the "Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush."

Hi Brynn,
I suggest the Well-Rested SPF 20 Eye Brightener (loose shadow version) for dark under-eye circles. I have all three products: the powdered concealer, the powdered Well-Rested, and the liquid Well-rested. The concealer is really great for red marks, sun marks, or pimples. It neutralizes the color and works well under a foundation. If you have acne or get zits, it's a great thing to try! The Well-Rested Brightener (powder) lightens dark places and provides good coverage. The liquid version does not work as well for me (less brightening, less coverage, harder to apply). If you wanted to choose only one product that works really well for dark eye circles, I highly recommend the Well-rested SPF 20 loose powder shadow. I also have very sensitive skin, so much so that I cannot wear all BM products (e.g. eyelid primer, big and bright eye liner, etc), but the products you're asking about work really well for me. Hope this helps!

So many BM products sound like they might be gluten-free but scientific names are not easy to determine if they are gluten-free unless sources are given. It is necessary to know what products contain gluten for millions in the US alone. No concealers are listed under your "products containing gluten" but I wonder if the list needs updating. Thank you.
