Q & A

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 303 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Light Foundation The foundation was really flaky and irritated my skin. It offered some coverage but was really noticeable and "cakey." 01/16/2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect Foundation I have been using this foundation for five years now. I have acne prone skin and this does an amazing job covering everything with a very natural looking finish. 01/15/2017
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not at all what I had expected! I wanted to love this, I really did, but I didn't like it at all! Both my daughter and I hated it. It does not cover well at all, and the more you put on the more "cakey" it feels! It did not cover my freckles, and it did not cover the redness on my face, even after several layers. It felt very uncomfortable on my skin. Overall, I'm very disappointed. I've wanted to try bare minerals for a long time, and when I finally did, I was very let down. 01/14/2017
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Foundation I've Used This BareMinerals powder foundation has made such a difference in my skin. As a former acne sufferer, that's saying a lot. Because my skin was so broken out, I was skeptical about whether a loose powder foundation would be healthier and provide enough coverage. I could not believe how much coverage the "Fairly Light" shade gave me. I apply it with a clean makeup brush by my window, as the natural lighting helps me make sure the product is going on evenly. The more I use it, the better my skin gets. It's finally clear! For me, the foundation and Mineral Veil go hand-in-hand, as one doesn't seem to look complete without the other. After applying the foundation, I sweep on a small dusting of the Mineral Veil, which gives the makeup this luminous, finished look. My skin has never looked better. 01/13/2017
Rated 1 out of 5 by Posting for 13 Year Old Heartbroken Girl I will say that Bare Minerals has always been my first choice since it has come out, I purchased a starter kit for oldest, who is now 24, years ago and she continues to use Bare Minerals. So I could not wait to get this for my teen daughter as a major gift for Christmas. We got this, the mineral veil, serum concealer, kabuki brush, Good Clean Fun and the Countdown to Gorgeous. So you can imagine how excited she was, So after Christmas she started wearing all her Bare Minerals and was happy but she kept itching on her face and her eyes were dry all the time. Come to find out she is allergic to every product that she received as a gift for Christmas and in the Advent calendar. This product is great but be aware of allergic reactions, my daughter was in misery for a few days after using it. 01/13/2017
Rated 4 out of 5 by Best Foundation I love, love, love Bare Minerals... Have used nothing but Bare Minerals for close to 20 years ... My only complaint is the colors... Every product has completely different shades to choose from which means having to get color matched or trial and error to find the right shade. I was using the solid foundation and thrilled with the shade, application, all of it.. Then they come out with a new solid foundation, Bare Pro... BUT with all new shades so once again I had to find the right shade. So now I am using Pecan... Love it.. But wanted to have the original foundation on hand as well. WHY is there not a color called Pecan in the original foundation... OR if not the same shade color... Then... a chart that says if you use Bare Pro in Pecan, use ??? in the original foundation. Still love Bare Minerals.. 12/27/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful mineral foundation I use Bare Minerals Original foundation & hydrating Mineral Veil on top of my Complexion Rescue for extra moisture. It leaves my skin looking dewy, not gray nor cakey and doesn't accentuate any facial lines. And it looks great alone too. 12/21/2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Meh. I got this in the getting started kit. This did not look natural on me. It was too shiny and powdery looking. The matte foundation is much better. 12/20/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Original Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 I love how it is on my skin. It's like wearing nothing at all. Then I like to finish with Mineral Veil. Beforehand I put on a primer that I have got from another company. That alone makes my skin feel soft and smooth. I have yet to try from Bareminerals. But I would like to try. But I have one question, When I bought the mineral veil it had a shimmer to it. This last time it didn't, can you tell me why? I purchased the original mineral veil. Thank You Also I really wish you could come down on the price as I am poor. 12/15/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best around! Goes on great, looks wonderful. Skin has never looked better! 12/15/2016

Hi! My body is really tan (Medium Tan) and my face is more (Medium beige ) right now. What do you suggest I do to make this blend? Should I just use the medium beige and blend it with my faux tan bronzer? Thanks!

I absolutely love the way bareMinerals Original Foundation makes my skin look, but it's already fading 4-5 hours later. I use a primer and Mineral Veil after applying the foundation, but that doesn't seem to help. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to increase the longevity of this makeup?

Answer:
I would try a makeup setting spray! Through a bare minerals outlet store, I purchased a Buxom setting spray - it's refreshing after you spray it on your face, but it'll also help keep your foundation on longer! Good luck!

Answer:
I went on a website and it shows for me that the light beige in the Diorskin is next to the Ivory. The Ivory and the Light Beige are very light colors, buts yours just has some neutral undertones to it compared to the Ivory. Since I do not have a picture of you, my guess would be to try the foundation called Fairly Light in bareMinerals.

Fairly Light gives the description of being for porcelain-to-light skin with neutral undertones. Just like your Diorskin Forever foundation. I hope that helps!

I have extremely dry skin and put my moisturizer on about 15 to 30 min prior to my foundation. I seem to get cakey spots on my face. I noticed that even with out using moisturizer I get the spots, just not as bad. I thought it was because it's a powder, but I had the same issue when using a liquid foundation from cover girl. That was why I switched to bare minerals. What can I do.
P.S. I ordered your bareskin several days ago in hopes that it would be better for me.

Answer:
I wonder if the "cakey" spots are dry skin that needs to be removed, either by exfoliation or Scotch tape (a little trick to use sparingly.) If you have an area of concentrated dead, dry skin and you're just putting moisturizer on it instead of removing it, your makeup will not apply evenly. This is just what I've experienced, anyway. I would try exfoliating with an apricot scrub, then letting your skin dry fully so you can assess where any flakey areas are. That flakey skin needs to be removed before you apply moisturizer. Hope this helps!

Answer:
Is there a reason you wait 15 to 30 minutes between moisturizer and foundation application? It has been my experience that you should put your foundation on immediately after moisturizer. It helps the foundation set and stay put.

I suspect that the bareskin moisturizer will be very helpful for your skin dryness. I love it on my skin. Please try applying your foundation immediately after the bareskin and see if that solves your problem. I'd be interested to know if this helps!

Answer:
Hey Hun,
Gotta say, I feel you. In my experience when you get the Cakey spots from make up, your moisturizer might a) be the wrong type for your kin, or b) you might be using too much. If it option a, then try switching brand or moisturizing types. If it is option b, try applying about a dime sized dollop to your whole face And down your neck. Most people don't think to ply thier moisturizers anywhere but the face, when they should apply under the chin and down the neck as well.
Hope this helps!

With the the foundation that you just ordered make sure you are swirling it on to your face and it the cap because before you may have been layering your skin which would give it a cakey look. Trust me you will love bare minerals. I have been using it for 7 months now and i love it

Answer:
Matte is going to give you more coverage. Think about a matte photo...its flat versus glossy. In no way does the original make you have a glossy look, but using the matte foundation will give you more coverage.

original is slightly luminous. it has somewhat of a shimmer. some notice, some don't, but the matte is just that. no shimmer, and seems to absorb more oil without going shiny

Answer:
Original has a natural luminous finish that will enhance those with combo/dry or dry skin types. The matte helps to absorb excess oil, and leave a matte finish instead of a luminous one on the skin. The best way for you to decide is to first consider your skin type. Then visit a boutique, Sephora, or Ulta and allow them to put you in the foundation that best suits your skin needs.

There are a number of questions I need to ask you before I can help give you the advice you seek. Of course, the best answer is for you to visit a boutique and have a BM makeup artist work with you to perfect the look you want. Here are the questions I would ask you. 1. What is your skin care routine and are you consistently doing it? 2. What is your skin type and are you using the right products for it? 3. Have you tried the Prime Time primer underneath the foundation? 4. What brushes are you using to create your look?

Answer:
Hi, there. If you want to keep using a liquid foundation, I would recommend adding only the Mineral Veil as a finishing powder. It makes such a difference in giving your makeup a "finished" look. The powder foundation actually provides a lot of coverage, so you won't need a liquid foundation with it.

I use the powder foundation along with the Mineral Veil, which gives a great coverage - better than any liquid foundation I've tried. It's also the best combo for clear skin. Would definitely recommend.

Answer:
It depends. Do you want additional coverage or just a setting powder? If additional coverage is wanted you can use the mineral foundation on top of your liquid. If you just want a light setting powder than Mineral Veil is perfect!

Answer:
I have used a needle nose pliers to remove the sifter cover. You can grab the cover from the edges or put it in the sifter holes. It sometimes tears the cover a little so it will come out in pieces. It is difficult to do, but not impossible. Good luck and watch out so you don't spill the product in the process!
