ORIGINAL Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 - null 4.7 5 124 124
If you have dry skin, please read I personally have very, very dry skin around my chin, sides of nose, and cheeks, yet very oily skin on my t-zone. This foundation seemed to really accentuate my dry spots the first time I used it. I applied the mineral veil beneath this foundation (it is supposed to help newbies not have so much itching) and just a bit of mineral veil on top. After some experimenting, I found that the mineral veil was a huge no-no for my dry skin, as it made areas that weren't all that dry look terribly dry. The application of this foundation (the buffing) is allegedly not good for dry skin as it is a form of micro exfoliation (and we dry skinned people know how exfoliation can be an enemy). You can use puffs to press this powder on, but I just really love buffing and have been trying to work around the dry skin issue because truly this foundation is amazing and makes my face look so even and smooth when I fist put it on. I really recommend dry skinned people to be aware that you may have issues with this foundation, and it may help to use a spray setter (a product you spray on after applying your makeup) and it helps set the bare minerals and reduce the appearance of dry patches. You must moisturize and use primer, or you will not have a good experience with this foundation. I will continue to try and make this foundation work for me because I love it so much and know it is not harming my skin like some foundations that are less natural. 07/10/2014
The original that I will never live without When pushing 40 I started thinking, you know what, I need to try something new for my face. I wasn't liking the way my skin looked dull and settled into my fine lines with other foundation products I'd been using. So after getting a little sample of this Original Bare Minerals Foundation product with a teeny tiny little brush as a free sample at a beauty store I thought, hmm, interesting, I've never tried a mineral make up before. So I went online looking for tutorial videos, learned more about the product and how to apply it and gave it a try. OMG I'm soooo glad I got that free sample because I fell in love with product from day one. I have gotten so many compliments since switching to Bare Minerals. My skin looks , I don't know, just healthier and prettier, and dare I even say. . . Younger! I love this foundation. I like a natural looking sheer-medium type coverage and this mineral foundation goes on so lovely, I love the finish, love the way it looks so natural, not cakey, not drawing attention to my fine lines by settling into them like most powder make ups do. I recommend Bare Minerals to everyone and have convinced others to switch because they saw the difference in how my skin was now looking better without me even mentioning I was trying something new. After receiving compliments and explaining what I was using that was new, other people close to me have started using the BM line too now. An additional bonus, my husband has always been complimentary but I have caught him just staring at my face more lately and saying things like, your skin looks so pretty, are you wearing any make up? It looks that natural and radiant that people can't really tell that it's make up that's making my skin look better and I love that because I am all about a natural look. 07/06/2014
Amazing I have very sensitive, dry, and acne prone skin. I have been looking for years for a product that would not only cover my imperfections but not cause more. This is perfect! I have not had any breakouts since using this and it does not dry out my face like I thought it would. I can't even tell I'm wearing makeup it feels so nice. I will be using bareminerals products exclusively from now on. 06/24/2014
Great foundation, but more shades are in need This foundation is perfect for what I am looking for. A medium coverage foundation that looks flawless without that makeup feel on your skin. I didn't give this foundation all the hearts because I am right between two foundation shades (fairly light and medium beige). I really wish Bare Minerals would come out with a shade between these two intensities as I am probably going to have to look for something else come winter when my skin gets paler and medium beige is too dark and fairly light too light for me. 06/18/2014
My makeup for Life I am so in love with Bare Minerals, so easy to use, and blends perfectly with my skin tone. I even use the Mineral Veil and the eye shadows. I'm hooked for life. I am in my fifties and get compliments all the time on my skin. Thank you Bare Minerals! 06/14/2014
BEST Foundation Ever! I have used many different foundations and powders, and this is by far the BEST one I have ever used. Even if you don't exactly match the shade, but you get close enough, it blends into *your* skin tone to match it. And it literally feels as though you are wearing nothing. My friends have told me they can't tell I'm even wearing make-up on my face, that I just look like I'm glowing. It covers what you need, without covering *you*, if that makes sense. Best part, my complexion has improved so much since I made the switch. I have not had one zit since I started using Bare Minerals, and it's been 6 weeks now. You won't be able to put your finger on exactly why, but your face just looks prettier. And the Prime Time Foundation Primer is a must-have to go along with this. I have worn this during my 13-hour shifts at work and to the gym, and my make-up STILL looks good :) 06/03/2014
Best Foundation I've Ever Used This is the best foundation I have found. My skin is very sensitive and I don't need a ton of coverage- this is the only foundation that I can use. No other brands compare. 05/30/2014
Best Foundation I had recently reviewed the bareMinerals Ready Foundation, which I liked quite a bit. I had received a small tester of the Original, when I made this purchase at an Ulta. The color was Medium Beige. I learned to use a neutral shade because it's the best at covering Rosacea, and luckily this was the shade I was given. I was using a kabuki brush, as I thought I needed full coverage for my redness. The shade was just a little too dark so I purchased Fairly Light, and I mix them 1/2 and 1/2. I read a review that someone wanted a neutral between these 2 shades- this is it. You pay for 2 foundations up front, but it will last FOREVER. I also started using a big fluffy powder brush-with very little product in the cap...and it's amazing how much better it looks. It's a light to medium coverage- but it covers more :) 05/26/2014
original foundation Never ever ever waste your money on trying to find a duplicate for this product. You won't find it anywhere. I have learned my lesson. Have been using this for about 10 years. First time of ever running out I went for something cheaper...and wasted money. Love, love, love bare escentual products!!!! 05/04/2014
Love this foundation! I have tried several different mineral foundations over the years and I didn't like any of them. I should have tried BM first! I started out with the matte foundation because my skin is oily, but it just looked terrible on my skin. I went into the BM store and got color matched with the original foundation and what a difference! It's lightweight, yet covers really well and makes my skin look so perfect! I am definitely a fan of BM now. 04/30/2014

I have this foundation in Fairly Light, but even in the winter found it a little too pink for my skin. Now that I have a bit of a tan, I'd like to buy another foundation but don't know which color would be best. What color would you recommend?

Hi there, i have always used the medium beige shade as was recommended to me by the beautician selling your products a few years ago. Only I have noticed this winter it seems too dark with a slightly orange tint. Which shade is the best one to be one step lighter? I noticed the others have pink undertones but the one i have been using is neutral, would medium be ok in this case?

I use medium beige in the summer when I have a tan and then fairly light in the winter when I am pale. They both have the same undertones, so they match my skin.

Use warmth or even faux tan as a contour :) just follow the outside of your face in a 3, so start on the forehead ( by your hairline) then sweep down to your cheek bone. Go from the top part of your ear inwards toward your nose, this is your natural cheek bone. then sweep from the hair line towards the jaw. this product will give you a natural contour so it doesn't look too over done and blends in with the foundation. If you want more dramatic just use more of the warmth or faux tan. You can also use a bronzer to make it more dramatic.

One of the main reasons I switched to Bare Minerals is due to that when the warmer weather started I dreaded my makeup melting off. With Bare Minerals my skin can breathe! Melt off or major just overall fade isn't a major issue in my life anymore.

On the website it is still called Medium Beige (the number is just not shown, but it IS the same product). So just make sure that you are where the ORIGINAL line is shown, not MATTE.

Hope this helps!

I am not sure which one she was using, but if I had to guess I would say that she was either using ORIGINAL Golden Medium or its sister shade, ORIGINAL Medium Beige. You would have to look at the shades online or in stores to figure out which one matches better.

Hope this helps!

I think that the Bare Mineral foundation in medium tan would be your best bet. It is pretty much the same color of the MAC foundation, and will match your skin tone very well.

I think that the Bare Minerals foundation in Medium Tan would be great for you. It matches the foundation perfectly on some, and if you want more coverage just apply it over your MAC foundation to set it and make your skin have a flawless finish.

If you go one of the BM boutiques, they will do a shade match for you. It is really the best way to go. The shade names look slightly different in each of the 3 different formulas. I like to blend two colors together - Fair and Fairly Medium.

I am fairly new to makeup, which is why I experimented quite a bit to find the best fit in color and texture etc. This is what I have concluded regarding the Original versus the Matte foundation:

1. If you have oily skin, you may like Matte.
2. If you are 50+, you may like the Original, as Matte seems to bring all the wrinkles out.
3. Summer time is for Matte, and winter is for Original.
4. If you are sensitive to certain ingredients in the Original (such as Bismuth), you may prefer Matte.

A:
First, determine whether your skin type is:

- normal (few imperfections, very little sensitivity, barely visible pores, and a radiant complexion)
- dry (dull or rough complexion, red patches, visible lines, less elasticity, and almost invisible pores)
- oily (enlarged pores, shiny complexion, blackheads, pimples, or other blemishes)
- combination (dry in some other and oily in others, especially the "t-zone" which consists of your nose, forehead, and chin; overly dilated pores, blackheads, and shiny skin)
- sensitive (redness, itching, burning, or dryness)

Next, based on your skin type, you'll be able to easily decide whether to choose the Original or Matte Foundation!
The bareMinerals Original Foundation would be especially ideal if you have normal, dry, or sensitive skin. It provides excellent coverage without drying your skin, plus the natural mineral ingredients will give your skin an overall healthy look.
If you have especially oily or combination skin, the bareMinerals Matte Foundation might be best for you. It has all of the features that the Original Foundation has, only with a few added bonuses. It will help absorb excess oil and reduce the size of your pores, too! However, these added features may not be needed if you don't have naturally oily skin.

Either way, you can't go wrong! Both of these foundations would be a great choice. Best of luck!
