Q & A

READY Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20 - null 4 5 268 268
Great coverage and holds moisture. I loved the bare minerals original but as I have aged over the last few years my skin has become very dry with more discoloration. I switched to the Ready Foundation to get more coverage and because it was marketed as more moisturizing. Learning the application technique was a little tricky for me. I learned that you must use the Precision Face Brush and pat the foundation all over before smoothing in long strokes to get the best coverage and most flawless look. I have eczema and this definitely helps keep moisture in my sensitive skin and it gives my skin a more youthful appearance. 02/23/2015
I love it!! This product is amazing. I recently bought this at Ulta and I've never boughten powder before until I bought this product. Literally amazing, although its a bit smelly, yet the powder itsself is absolutly incrediable!! 02/16/2015
Good at first, not worth it in the end I initially bought this because i had heard great things about this product line. I usually use a liquid foundation and i just wanted to get away from that, so i tried this powder foundation. It goes on very nicely (esp. with the recommended brush). However, after about 3-4 hours, it does something very funny on my skin. It sorts of settles in and then creates 'lines' of make-up, where i naturally have lines on my face (i.e. from my nose to my mouth, under my eyes). Then where i do not have lines, it sort of became dotted, or speckled i guess. You could see where the foundation had settled into my pores. Unfortunate because it starts off nicely. I will be returning this product though :( 02/13/2015
Great, but keeps me oily I love this when I put it on. It feels like silk, but 2 hours into my day I'm checking my face for oil. I do love this product but unfortunately keeps me very oily. If you have oily skin this isn't the product for you. If not, it'll be your best friend! 01/10/2015
AMAZING I have been using the original bare minerals powder for about 10 years and it worked great ! But as time went by, I started to age of course lol. I needed more coverage and something faster than the swirl, tap and buff. I have found it Ladies ! After reading reviews for a long time, I finally decided to try this foundation. Ignore the negative reviews because I honestly can't see why it's not working for them. It goes on flawlessly without leaving horrible lines or non covered blotches on face. It may seem expensive but its really not because it last a very long time. I like full coverage and it still doesn't take much to get the coverage I want. It takes years off your appearance. I do use a primer under my foundation and I wear it for over 12 hours and its still as good as when I put it on. I had wore it to bed one night just to see how it would hold up because the original one would be rubbed off by the morning, however, the ready foundation was still put and looked great ! This is a pure miracle for us women. My husband even loves how natural it looks. Please try this foundation ladies because it will change your view of makeup. I love it so much that I want to buy another one right now and I'm not even close to being out . What a great product Bare Minerals ! Please don't ever discontinue this product. I'm in love... 01/02/2015
So Glad I Found My Holy Grail I went shopping with my daughter at an outlet mall with plans to go to a regular mall and hit the BE boutique. I looked up and there was a Bareescentuals! Years ago I had tried the regular powder but was never able to get the right match. With the addition of three different foundations and/or colors I thought I'd give it another try. I've used liquid foundations for years, but at 59 my makeup needs have changed. I wanted buildable coverage that was quick and easy so thought I'd try the new serum foundation. The rep had me try the Ready and I was hooked. Color was perfect, coverage was perfect and the Precision brush was perfect. When I got home I played some more - one side of my face light coverage, the other side medium. Easy to do and even the medium gave me a natural even glow. I then went on to full coverage and while you could tell I had makeup on it was an even finish that did not look overdone. My super dry skin did not look cakey and had a lovely satiny-matte finish before I even put on blush or highlighter. Love this product. I'm back to BE! 12/27/2014
Great long lasting coverage . I am 21 and have been wearing Bare minerals for 5 years now. Anytime something new is out I am always excited to try it. This foundation is the best at long lasting full coverage. BUT!! It tends to make my smile lines stand out even with the primer. I have also tried the Porefessional under this makeup (for my smile lines) and it still seems to make them stand out. Other than that this makeup is great!! 12/10/2014
Great Product! I have been a loyal BM shopper since it started on QVC only. I liked the loose foundation but being a natural accident prone/mess making person it was always getting spilled and wasted. I was so excited when this first came out and have been using ever since. Using the brush made for it is important. If you use the old loose foundation brush with the solid foundation it goes on very thick and cakey. I have greasy skin/acne prone and this product does not aggravate it at all. I have also tried the new liquid foundation and have come back to the solid. 12/07/2014
Not worth your money..... I recently visited my dermatologist, who subjected me to a twenty minute rant about how basically all drugstore and most high-end makeup is terrible for the skin. He then gave me a "list" of products I could use ( the only things on the list were Bare MInerals and Almay). Therefore, I immediately went to my local makeup store to purchase a Bare Minerals foundation. First of all, no bare mineral foundation actually serves more than one function (i.e. one mattified, but had no coverage, while another had coverage but was terrible for oily skin). I finally decided on this foundation, because, as a worker told me,"well, it doesn't add any extra oil to the skin, and it has medium coverage". When I put it on, it was cakey, powdery, and completely unnatural looking. It settled into my pores, even though I had used Bare Mineral's oil and pore eliminating primer (another failure), leaving me with a polka-dotted yellowish face. Unfortunately, this is one of my only options for foundation, so I have to get used to it :( 11/27/2014
Love it! I'm loving this more and more. I wasn't so sure at first because I was using too much product. All it takes is one tap and then long swipes across my face with the precision face brush. I do one layer like that, repeating the one tap at a time until my face is covered, then I go back with the regular face brush and add a little just to the spots that need it. I have very fair skin and Medium R210 is perfect for me. (I'm 53 with sensitive, dryish skin.) I'm so happy I gave this a try! 10/08/2014

I have used this product for a year or more. I get to use about half the product in the compact and then it cracks and breaks, making a huge mess, and is unusable. I use the recommended brush, and it doesn't seem to make any difference. I like it otherwise, but it is expensive when I can't finish using the foundation. Do you have any recommendations? I get it usually at Ulta, and they have been terrible in helping me with this problem.

Well they have translucent and the other color which is light, and translucent is lighter than light so maybe you looked at the wrong time?? Other then that medium light is not almost the same, its little darker then light but then agian its lighter than medium. So its in the middle, this color is more of a mixture color as if you were in between the same colors for your skin.

Fairly Medium isn't the same because you were using a neutral undertone and this one has a pink undertone. Medium Beige would probably be the closest to the one you were using. Go to a store that sells it and have them put some on your face in this shade.

Well, yes and no, becuase I dont really nesseary put too much on but if i do you have to use the right cleanser to get it off. I use their make up wipes to get all the access off, and then I use Orgins (another face/beauty company) face wash which is called, Checks and Balances. :)

Hahaha, alright, alright, to be honest, I wouldnt do either. Usually this foundation comes with a pad to apply on your face but if you dont want to use it then I suggest to go buy a brush from them to apply to your face so it can be even and perfect. If you just use your finger, bacteria will go on your face and clog your pores. And a cotton ball wouldnt really apply very well, and it wastes more of your product. So I highly suggest you getting proper tools for your product so it can be properly and easyily applied. I hoped I helped!! :)

Honestly the best way to apply in my opinion is with a dense flat top brush. I personally love the sigma f80 flat top kabuki... That's what I use and I get so many compliments that my skin looks natural and flawless... If your going to use such a great foundation you might as well get the best result by using a good brush. Bare minerals has their READY Precision Face Brush that works great also... Hope this helps... I probably wouldn't use a cotton ball though

The only successful way to apply this makeup, since really it's a compact powder, is to use the precision face brush. There's a great video on the foundation's page that shows you how to tap and then apply in long strokes, and it results in AMAZING coverage. The way the foundation is made there's just not really a good way to get around using it or a kabuki brush. I know it's a little pricey but it is SO worth it and you never have to buy it again-- this coming from someone who doesn't have very many pennies to spare! Hope this helps!

I think a brush is needed, a cotton ball or your fingers will just put the product in one spot. This foundation blends so nicely into the skin, but it won't without a brush in my opinion. I left my Precision Face Brush at my vacation home, and now use a big fluffy brush, or a mini kabuki, and get a nice medium coverage.

My Rosacea prone areas seem to get blotchy and the foundation doesn't cover well (nose and cheeks) Is my foundation too light?, am I not blending enough? It doesn't do it when I apply a very light application but I need to apply more for the coverage. The more I apply the worse it gets

With me, a really good moisturizer before I put the base on has done wonders for this. If the more you out on, the more bothersome it is, you could also probably stand to have a darker foundation. I'm fair but had to go from R170 to R250. Hope this helps ya!

I am not a professional makeup artist or anything but I have tried both formulas and work outside no matter how hot or cold it is.

I think (at least with my skin, yours may be different) they both last about the same in the heat and they both will wipe off while using a napkin. I have used both with and without primer. The Ready foundation, I feel, does a little better than Bareskin without a primer as far as last power. However, while using a primer, I feel the Bareskin does better and looks better throughout the day (more natural, not like a mask) while working in the heat and sweating (a lot).

Yes, umm hellooooo!! Its the best for really oily skin!! I have a combination of dry and oily and it controls shine and everything. It also makes your skinvery soft too. Although dry skin is the issue, but i figured that you have too obviously apply primer in order to make your face smoother and softer then ever right? I hope I helped!!! :)

I think you will like this for sure! My skin is very oily during the summer months, and this foundation does the trick. No shine at all; by the end of the day my skin looks like I just put on foundation. I would definitely give it a go. Get shade matched first since it will make all the difference.

I found that the Ready foundation is a little lighter than the original so I had to go to a darker shade. I would get shade matched as well. Definitely use the Precision Brush to get the best results and use a patting technique with the brush before blending with long strokes. i learned this the hard way and it works for me.

It's general rule that you'll be one shade darker than the Original formula in the Ready foundation. However, after my experience, if you can get to a boutique or anywhere that sells it so you can test it first and/or be shade matched, that's the best.

I've heard of other people using other foundation brushes to apply the ready foundation. I have the precision face brush. I love the brush because it picks up just enough product and blends it so well over my whole face. This brush is very soft as well.

I would think almost any brush would work but I definitely think you should use a brush to get it blended well
