Get Started Kit - null
So far so good!
While out shopping recently, I stopped by the BE counter to ask a few questions. I'm so happy that I did. The consultant not only answered each of my concerns but she applied the make-up in less than 5 minutes. It was so simple and easy, that I purchased the kit! I must admit, that I have never been one to apply make-up, but BE is so incredibly fast that I could not resist. I'm loving it thus far!
Love the Well Cared For shampoo
The only thing that I wish was changed about this kit was that instead of having two different shades of foundation, I would have liked it better if you could have had two different kinds of foundation - i.e. Original and Matte.
That being said, this is a great kit. The brushes are great starter brushes (although its odd to me that they include a concealer brush yet no concealer. That bothered me about the other Get Started Kit too). What I really liked about this though was the brush shampoo. I doubt I would have ever bought this without the kit because I didn't realize the difference it made. I used to just gently wash out old make up with regular soap, but the conditioning shampoo makes the brushes feel almost new again.
Not for people with oily skin and acne.
I have been fighting with adult acne recently and my dermatologist recommended mineral makeup since other foundations have been breaking me out and making my acne worse. Because Bare Minerals is a recognizable brand, and I have heard many great things about them I decided to try the starter kit. I went to a Bare Minerals boutique to get color matched and for a lesson on how to use their products. My makeup looked decent enough in the store. It didn't give me the greatest coverage, but if it was better for my skin then I thought I would try it out (I prefer full coverage because of acne scars and dark spots). The next day I wore my bare minerals to work. About 2 hours into my work day my makeup looked horrible. I have oily skin and I had to reapply this makeup about 6 times throughout the day. Even when I did reapply, it still didn't give me the coverage I liked, and my skin looked horrible and very cakey. I though bare minerals was supposed to blend in with your skin! You could also see all of my post acne spots on my cheeks and chin. I thought Bare Minerals would be my go to foundation, but it apparently does not give me the coverage I need. However, this product would be great for people with normal skin and no discolorations.
Brush cleanser included makes this the best kit
Product wise, this Get Started kit has all the essentials to actually get started.
However, in my considered opinion this particular version of the "getting started" is far and away the best choice, not just because of the products and brush set it includes ( BOTH a full flawless face, and a flawless face brush, and the max coverage) but because it includes a full size brush cleanser. There's nothing more important in putting on makeup on your face than putting it on with CLEAN BRUSHES, and I think that by including it, BE is promoting their message of healthy skin in a very active way.
The only caveat to my unqualified love of this kit is that I intensely dislike the 'opens to the bottom' tube packaging that the shampoo comes in. It wastes an unbelievable amount of product, because there's no way to control the flow it of.
If you purchase this kit, I suggest you go out and get a different bottle to put the brush cleanser in; if you try to use this 'tube style' thing, you'll waste at least half of it--if not more.
Product Quality Has Gone Downhill
I used to use BM for years, before I lost my makeup bag and replaced everything with Clinique products since that was just what store I had around... 4 years later I decided to switch back to Bare Minerals. I am so disappointed. The primer was much too oily even when only using a smidge. I am very fair skinned with pink undertones, but the powder was chalky in consistency and does not fare well in the humid weather.
I always found the bronzer/warmth to be way too much for me...
I really want to like the product, but I just simply do not have anything good to say about the products currently. Even the brushes "shed" and mascara clumped.
Unfortunately, I think I will be going back to Clinique for skin care and make up.
Best way to try BE!
I bought this kit some time back, when it included different things. I'm dark-skinned (African American), so I got this in golden dark and it came with the mineral veil, warmth, the Full Flawless Face Brush, the regular Flawless Face Brush, a sample of the primer and a concealer brush.
I haven't used the warmth - I'm already brown so I don't really need a bronzer. I suppose I could use it in the deep winter when I'm a little paler, but I haven't seen the need for it. I LOVE Bare Escentuals' original foundation - it gives you a really glowing, pretty look while still looking natural and not irritating your skin AT ALL. It also at least does not aggravate my acne, and may even help my complexion when I wear it.
I also love the Mineral Veil. I would've never worn a finishing powder if it didn't come in this set, but now it's like one of the most essential parts of my makeup routine. It gives you a nice soft-focus finish - almost an airbrush effect - and helps set the makeup.
I don't wear makeup that often (not everyday - maybe 3 days out of an average week) but when I do, I don't bring anything with me to touch up, so I prefer makeup that stays put. I like BE's primer, but I use a different brand now, and with primer + foundation + mineral veil this stuff stays put all day long. My forehead gets oily and even the forehead and nose stay put. Comes off easily with a quick wash or makeup removing cloths (although better to wash - the makeup removing cloths don't get it all; my primer is really good)!
This set is also great because it includes the two brushes. Full is for full coverage and the regular is for buildable coverage. I can't say that I see much difference between them, but I liked them all right. However, when I lost my regular one I replaced it with a different brand brush that I like better. But $60 for bronzer, foundation, loose powder, three brushes and brush shampoo is an incredible deal. You save $6 on the combination of the bronzer + foundation + mineral veil, and the brushes and the shampoo are essentially free.
Don't really use concealer much so I don't think I've used the concealer brush. And I can't comment on the brush shampoo since I bought this set before it included it.
This stuff is incredible!
I have had chronic acne since I was 9 years old. I am now just shy of 22. I decided it was time to make the final commitment to my skin health-care regimen and get the starter kit. Now after 11 years of excessive oiliness and breakouts one can imagine that there is a considerable amount of visible scarring not to mention my current mild break-outs. The Fairly-Light covered EVERYTHING. It also matched my skin tone perfectly, which I could never do with any other foundation I have used over the years. It also works perfectly with the MURAD acne line that I am using for cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and skin treatments. I am so excited to the point that I am on the verge of tears. I am never going back to cheap knock-offs again!
foundation and concealer
This is the perfect makeup. Using the concealer first for any area that needs extra coverage, then put the foundation all over. You can't go wrong.
Can't live without this foundation
I bought this kit several years ago and haven't looked back! I wont wear any other foundation and the bronzer looks so natural (a little goes a long way). My skin looks fresh and flawless every time.
So light and beautiful
I have never felt so wonderful wearing make-up. As soon as I put it on I already felt a 100% difference in comparison to the other make-up I was wearing. It is so light. Plus having a bit of an acne problem, it has already cleared up. I honestly can say I will never go back to the other stuff.
