Q & A
Refillable Buffing Brush 2.2 5 65 65
Great idea - Poor design I wanted this to be great. It seemed like the perfect way to keep my mineral foundation neat and easy to use, especially while traveling. But the reality is that the brush head would fall off every time I would shake it to distribute the power on the brush. And shaking didn't bring enough powder to the brush to use properly. The powder compartment was too small to hold all my powder so I still had to keep it elsewhere as well. The brush was beautiful and soft, but if it keeps falling onto the floor, it can't be used. I'm returning mine. :( 07/22/2014
Perfect Travel Tool I am not sure what the other writers were doing with this brush. I have been in a job that requires 100% travel for the last 5 years ... I have been travelling with this brush, loaded with my makeup for the entire time. It works. It has not cracked or broken. I make a little cone out of a small piece of note paper to refill it. In fact I have two of these ... the smaller for the makeup and the larger for the mineral veil. Maybe folks are not reading the directions? 06/11/2014
Love the idea, hate the product As many others have said, the concept is great but the product isn't. I've been a BE customer for many years and I thought I'd give this product a try even though it was a bit pricey. It worked great for the first few months, although it was awkward getting the powder into the reservoir, but then the part you turn to make the brush extend and retract cracked making it virtually useless other than a regular brush since it now won't go back down. I've not had much of a problem getting the powder to come out onto the brush as some reviewers have. If you give it a good couple of taps on the palm of your had it usually comes out fine. I wouldn't recomment this to anyone becuase it doesn't last. Maybe if the design flaws are fixed I might try it again... 05/29/2014
plastic eventually cracks and brush breaks I liked the brush a lot and did not have issues getting powder out, you just need to give it a thorough shake when the brush is in the "open" position. However, after using it for a few months, the bottom base cracked and I can no longer turn the dial to retract the brush... Waste of money 04/08/2014
Don't pay for aggravation The idea of this product is great, but the implementation is nonexistent. I had no luck at all getting this product to work. So I went to the reviews hoping someone else had the same experience and could explain how they finally got it to work. It turned out that almost everyone had the same experience and never found a way to make it work. So my conclusion is that I wasted my money and Bare Escentuals should discontinue selling the item. Very disappointing. 03/06/2014
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY I purchased two of these thinking it would be a great convenience for travel. I really wanted this product to work. I tried to make this function in so many ways but the product never dispenses onto the brush. These should all be recalled for a credit. Right now this is an over-sized and needless brush in my makeup drawer. 01/22/2014
Not what I hoped for After reading the other reviews it seems as though we all agree that it is a great idea, but the mechanics of it are not yet working. Most of the time I was not even sure if it was working or not and I think that I probably wasted more than I used by trying to open it and accidentally spilling it or continuing to shake it not knowing if any came out or not. This is a great idea, though, like I said before. It just didn't work for me. 12/18/2013
yep. in the trash. After reading the reviews (trying to find if there is a decent way to clean this brush on my last attempt to recover), I finally got the courage to toss it in the garbage. Like most of the reviews you read here: -product does not come out I have been using it as a powder transport and using a separate brush. I have never gotten this thing to work. I have no idea how to clean it (because of the compartment/ potential for clogging), and have never used it as it was meant to be used- as a portable powder and brush. I have been dragging it around my bag for two years and am OVER IT. I love BE, but do not buy this. The brand and the customers are better than this. 11/18/2013
The worst of bare minerals I love your products. I cannot believe this one is still being sold. I bought this several years ago at your highest end retailer. From day one I could not get it to dispense. Still cannot get it to dispense. Remove it from your line. You are too good for it. 07/31/2013
Very Disappointing I had purchased this when it first came out, thinking the concept was an awesome idea. It was very difficult to fill and once filled I could hardly get any product out. What a waste of money. I wish I would have thought of returning it back then. Instead it sat in my makeup drawer for a couple of years and finally went on the trash. Very disappointing. 07/07/2013

I can't seem to get the powder to come out, and when I shake it as the instructions show, the brush head falls off. Is mine defective? Am I doing something wrong? Please help!

I can't. I still have to shake it out onto a piece of paper, use the scoop to put it in the dispenser, or just create a funnel and slide it into the dispenser. There's still some product that's left trapped in the foundation container, but that goes too recycle with the container.

If you flip it over there's a plug on the bottom of the container you can semi-easily pop off with the edge of a dime. Getting the plug back on though is another story. After I thought I had securely popped the plug back on and went to flip my container right-side up, it fell off and all my foundation spilled all over my bathroom counter! I was able to save most of it though. To get the plug securely back on correctly, I had to use a small hammer and tap the edges of the plug back on until I heard 2 loud clicks. The plug should be slightly inside the outter ring of the container, not level with the outter ring, but all edges of the plug should be level to know that you've securely put it back on correctly. It was a nightmare, but I got it back on!

The brush comes off for cleaning/filling your brush so when you activate the powder to fill the brush, be sure to secure the brush so that it doesn't come off. The dial at the bottom of the brush allows you to close it up or buff on your look.

I think that if you look at the bottom of the jar, there is a little dial. You can try using the edge of a dime to twist it open. I hope this is what you meant! :-)

Please make an option for use with your eye shadow. I don't like the mess of opening ( and spilling ) the pots of eye shadow. The brushes are great for the face products. Please modify for eyes!!

Keep your pots of eyeshadow upside down. I do that with all bareminerals products. I wish they would design them that way, so that the retail side is on the bottom etc.

If you mean a sifter for the concealer and eye shadow, I totally agree. There's sifters for the loose blush powder, veil, warmth all over face color and foundation. But for eye shadow and concealer, which are my favorites as well, there's no sifter. The jar tops are great and I never mess up anything, but still...it would be fantastic if I can seal it off like I can with everything else. Ask a BE rep if they plan on making a sifter for eye colors and concealers!

It's empty and you fill it with your foundation powder. Reading the other reviews I don't think I'll get it. I'm better off swirling tapping and buffing my heart out. Sephora has $3 sifters where you can put your makeup in and carry it with you instead of taking the source with you. It would be a lot better I think. I just ordered 6 sifters yesterday. Can't wait to get them. I have a home makeup bag, purse bag, swim bag and also a bag I would take for hotel visits. I would rather lose or misplace a $3 item verus my $26-$28 source jar lol.

It comes empty so you can put what you want in it. It comes with a little spoon to help move the powder. Using a paper funnel works well too and is a little faster.

It comes empty with a little scoop. You just put your make up in a little jar that screws into the base of it.

No, there's no product in the brush. When you get it, it will be empty. Then you can put whatever you want to in it. Even mineral veil.
