Rated 5 out of 5 by Absolute Perfection! I Cannot live without this product. Bare Minerals Original Foundation covers imperfections perfectly. I love the Original Foundation so much that I purchase two at a time. Thank you for this lifesaving product. 09/20/2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very matte and a little darker than expected I have used the Original foundation for about a year. I have combination skin and found that during the warmer months my skin looked very oily after a few hours, due to humidity, etc. I tried the Matte finish, but it is quite a bit darker than its Original counterpart. I also prefer a SLIGHTLY luminous finish; I think that having a perfectly matte finish makes my skin look a little dull. Mixing the two together - Original and Matte - gives me the perfect amount of coverage and glow without looking too oily or dull. 09/15/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Product!!! I have had a very hard time finding makeup products that will not make my skin break out and I finally found it!!! (Yes I'm young but I need makeup due to stage performances.) I started using Bare Minerals with a starter kit and absolutely loved it. I tend to break out mostly on my forehead and most other products will cause immediate outbreaks within the first day, but I have had no problems with this product. It has a great amount of coverage that doesn't cover every single flaw, but still evens out my skin tone and hides the majority of them. Because my face is very oily, it does not remain fully matte throughout the day, so at the end of the day, I have an even more natural looking face because the oil just helps the powder to set in even more. I could go on FOREVER about how great this product is and how great all of the other products are (such as the complexion rescue tinted hydrating gel cream... absolutely love it... try it with this foundation or the original foundation...) but I don't have much more time. Anyways, get this product, you will not regret it! It really doesn't clog up your pores and you don't even notice you have makeup on... peace out! XOXO 08/29/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by awesome shades for AA women. love love love my matte foundation, its so natural looking and make me feel beautiful 08/18/2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Pretty good This foundation looks pretty good for about 5 hours, then I start getting pretty oily. Which is weird, because with the original I stayed matte longer... The finish is great. Covers redness well. Does an ok job at covering acne, but it doesn't make it disappear. Overall, it's not too bad. I like it cause it doesn't break me out or look streaky like most liquid foundations. 08/10/2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Only product I trust! I've had acne for as long as I can remember. After a breakdown in college I decided to spend the extra money for the sake of my face, and it was the best decision I made! Yes, it's expensive, but it's worth saving the tears over breakouts. I use all powder products and love the way my face feels at the end of the day instead of feeling like it's melting off by lunch. I've seen significant improvements in my skin and I don't think I will ever trust anything else on my face. Bare minerals claims it is so natural you can sleep with it on, and although I will wear this all day every day, if your acne issues are as bad as mine I still don't recommend that. 07/28/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing Great coverage without feeling like I'm wearing a mask.. Absolutely love it!! 07/28/2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Matte foundation Perfect for hot muggy summers. My face didn't get shiny like it does with liquid foundation. Gives medium coverage. It will be the foundation I use during the summer for my oily skin. Winter, I don't think I'd use as powders seem to stick to my dry patches. I do like it and will repurchase it, for sure! 07/25/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome foundation I've been using this foundation for years and I won't switch brands. In a hot and humid climate, it holds up all day and gives me the coverage and finish I want. 07/18/2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Foundation Ever Reasons- any skin type can wear it- it does not emphasize pores or wrinkles. Its not sparkley. You can control the coverage. Its buildable, portable and blendable. It can also be used by both men and women. I am a middle aged man with darker skin and some uneven pigmentation and always a bit shiny. I also need to wear a mineral sunscreen like titanium and zinc- but they leave a blue pink cast on my skin. Bare Minerals Matte doesn't look unnatural at all and has sunscreen, I never break out. Its great for travel and discrete. If you are in situations where you need to look refreshed, refined, natural and younger looking, this is the product to go to. You may want to have several shades so you can colour adjust for the seasons. 07/04/2016

I want to open the plastic casing that holds the matte powder foundation. It says to "lift the sifter off". How do I do that? I have tried everything and can't open it!!! I end up wasting foundation because I can't get the last bit out.

Answer:
To get the last bit of foundation out, turn the container over and pry the bottom off with a butter knife. Then you can either use the last bit of it or put what's left in the new container. Make sure you snap the bottom back on the new foundation all the way around so it stays sealed.

Answer:
For a long time I had this problem too, here's how to do it. Get a pair of flat ended tweezers, on the bottom of the foundation you will notice there is a plastic plug. Use your tweezers on the inner most circle of this plug and gently pry it upward. It's best to work around the entire canister to get the plug lifted. Once removed you can use every bit of foundation and simply push the plug back in place so you do not lose any foundation. Hope this helped!

Answer:
Basically you want to turn your container upside down. You should see the color name of your product on a clear circular little lid... I usually use some flat headed tweezers and I click it upwards, just like a paint can lid. There you have it now you can use the rest of your product! Hope I helped!

Answer:
I am also 58 I would recommend the luminous ( original)since you have normal skin. I have oily skin so I use the matte version. I get very good results when using a primer & find it absolutely does not settle in my wrinkles like other make-ups. As far as what shade it's hard to say just be aware the actual product is lighter than it appears on-line. I ordered based on the images but ended up going to Sephora to get color matched, if this is not possible for you I would call customer service they are helpful maybe if you can think of a famous movie star whose skin color most matches yours they can recommend the right shade for you. Hopes this helps.

I've never had this with any other make-up foundation and I have used the same liquid primer for almost 10 years now. I love the way this product makes the rest of my skin look and feel but it is so frustrating and embarrassing to deal with. Also, I do not have the gathering of make-up in my smile lines when I simply wear a primer foundation so I know it has to be the matte finish that is causing this issue. Thank you in advance BM.

Answer:
Powder foundations just tend to do this. I too have that happen in between my eye brows in my lines. I have found using the normal bare minerals primer vs oil control primer is better. I also have started to use the correcting concealer and this helps keep the make up in place. I went to school for hair/make up and I was taught the proper way to wear any foundation is primer, liquid foundation, concealer and then set it with a powder foundation. Maybe give the concealer a try?

Answer:
Hi! I tried the Matte foundation and ran into the same problem. I think the ingredient causing this is the silica, as the other foundations that I've used with this ingredient tend to be pretty cakey. However, I don't have this problem at all when using BM's Original foundation. It actually makes my skin look younger, as it's more nourishing and luminous (in my opinion). I also use the mineral veil at the end to get more of a matte finish. Good luck to you!

im a warm tan powders and have tried bare skin and complexion rescue. honestly unless you want to use multiple items , there isn't a shade that matches. i tried bare walnut and turned out really paste-y even though it looked like it would match. the only thing i can say is to maybe take a chance on espresso or bare mocha since they're the only 2 shades left. one of them may work

I made the switch to bare minerals because of my own acne issues, it is definitely worth it for helping to prevent acne. Serious word of advice though would to bring her in to a boutique so they can show her just how little of the make up she needs (it's free). Otherwise she may load it on and you will be broke within a few months!

Answer:
really any age! Perfect for pre-teens and adults. This foundation doesn't have any harsh ingredients in it that can cause acne like some drugstore foundations. Your skin actually changes a lot with this makeup. It's smoother, softer, and doesn't clog your pores. The mineral veil really seals in the powder foundation. It absorbs oil and it's great to have if you get oily throughout the day.

Answer:
Absolutely it is safe for them to use. I dont recommend it at all for though. Its very gentle on the skin but it is not great for acne. I have bad bright red acne sometimes cysts. It covers but looks very unnatural and cakey if you need quite a bit of coverage. I suggest if you do purchase it to make sure to use primer and some form of green cream to reduce the redness. I find using a concealer specifically on the bumps helps too.

Answer:
I started using makeup in 6th grade at age 12 and even though I am still in my teens, this makeup is one of the best I have used (and I have tried a lot).
It feels and looks natural and I have many allergies and sensitive skin.
Their finishing powder is also light and great.
No matter what age this is a great makeup brand and better than a lot of those heavier and less natural foundations out there.

Your best bet is to walk into a store and ask the employees. They will match your perfect shade and they will do it all for free! They are super helpful, but of course they are salespeople, so just know what you're going in for and draw the line at that if they start to offer more.

Hi Cammie! I run into the same problem as Summer ends. I have yet to find the perfect shade down from medium beige that isn't too light, so what I do is buy Fairly Light and mix in small amounts of Medium Beige until I get the desired result. I like being able to control the color but do wish there were more shade options for lighter skin tones with neutral undertones. Good luck to you!

I have found the shades to be the same. I wore Golden Tan in the Original for years and I switched to Matte about a year ago. The color is still a perfect match, but now I don't have that super skinny glisten when my skin gets oily. It has a more natural dewy look after 2 hours.

Yes I believe so! The Matte may be a bit darker but it is hardly noticeable! When I went to get my shade match in the store the artist tried on both and told me that they look the same on me. (Medium Beige) The only real big difference is the finish between Matte and Illuminated.

Answer:
Yes, they are the same color, with Mattes just not having a that "glowy" look (from the mica in the Original). The Matte may be a teeeennnyy shade darker, but not enough to need a whole new shade.

Hope this helps!
