Q & A

Rated 2.7 out of 5 by 104 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Never buy this. This is horrible. Truly one of the worst brushes I have ever used in my entire life - including dollar store brushes. Unless your intention is to look like Chewbacca, this brush is horrid. It sheds literally everywhere and the hairs stick to your face. What's the point of great makeup when your brush is so bad? I didn't return it for the longest time because I thought maybe it would eventually stop shedding, but it never did and that actually genuinely upsets me. I love bareminerals, but this brush was horrible. 03/13/2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not the best Loved this brush until I washed it. First time I washed it all the bristles started falling out and is not the same as when I bought it. I would not recommend this. 12/27/2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Sheds!!! This bush leaves stuff everywhere... it looses about 10-15 hairs every time i use it. 12/26/2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Short Brush Life Not quite sure why I keep coming back to this brush. I think I'm on my 2nd one in a few years even though it starts to shed and become painful against my face within a few months. I like the coverage of this brush. I don't need a lot of coverage, but want a brush that feels luxurious every time. This brush doesn't do that. It sheds only after a few months after use leaving loose bristles on my face, clothes, and countertops. The bristles feel rough painful against my face, which then makes me itch. I just gotta get rid of this brush from my collection once and for all. I continue to use it because it costs almost $30!!! Just need to find a better one that lasts and feels great... 12/05/2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Brush fell apart I would not recommend this brush. While washing the brush, all the bristles detached from the base. I've never had this problem with other brushes. 11/09/2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for applying foundation! I use this brush to apply my mineral matte foundation. It provides great coverage when using the buffing method over your face. 08/09/2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Full flawless face brush I have used this brush for 3 years now and have noticed that the hairs on the brush are flaking off and the brush is also very irritating to my skin, I have had to use my hairdryer to blow off the hairs, as I have read the reviews of other women I will not be buying this product anymore not just because the brush flakes also because I have been told it is made from goats hair and it is certainly not worth £28, from now on when I buy a brush i will get one that is suitable for my skin and doesn't flake. 08/06/2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Falling apart I've been using Bare Minerals for a few months now and I love my foundation but my brush is falling apart. The bristles are falling out more and more ever time I use it and they are so dry they poke and scratch me. I expected more from a brush that cost as more as this but the quality for the one that I have is drugstore quality. Extremely disappointed 07/30/2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great, but not for foundation I ordered this brush because it claimed to give a full coverage with the mineral foundation, but it barely covered my face at all. However, I do use this with my Ready blush and it works wonderfully! It's tapered well for blushes/bronzer/highlight 06/18/2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not the best This brush was actually from a friend, that didn't really use much makeup. I highly doubt she would have passed it along knowing the quality. I didn't even realize this was a BareMinerals product until I looked it up! When I think of this brand I think quality first, but I would not buy any of the brushes after my experience with this one. The bristles are constantly coming out and sticking to my face, and it's difficult to get them off without wiping off applied makeup. Definitely not anywhere near worth the price. It has gotten me by for now, and I only keep using it until I can find a replacement. 04/25/2015

Answer:
I have had the same issue when I first bought the kit. I think it has something to do with the amount of brushes that are made for the kits. When I bought the full size version, the shedding did not occur.

Answer:
Try searching the md formulations collection and search for products for acne. Bare Escentuals has a way of improving skin, so using md formulations would be great for your skin. Foundation wise, I would use a precision concealer brush. It's smaller than the max coverage concealer brush so you get to have more "precision" on those small or tricky spots on your face.

Answer:
Make sure you're cleaning your brushes when you can. Also when you do the swirl tap and buff motion, you don't have to press too hard or swirl too vigorously. Less is more because you really wanna buff the product into your face good. Depending on how much you use your brushes, you can use the quick change shampoo for your brushes or you can use the well cared for shampoo and let your brushes soak BRISTLES DOWN and when you clean them, make sure the bristles are always pointed downward. Don't dry them with a blow dryer, let them lay flat on a face towel on a flat surface and let them naturally dry so make sure you are doing this at a time where u know you won't be wearing makeup the next day because I usually wash mine monthly because I don't put on makeup that much. I work with kids so they could care less how I look usually lol. The brushes to me are fine and if the brushes feel rough, you can always put primer on your face or a nice moisturizer so that will counteract how it feels against your skin.

My brushes from the Get Started Kit lasted me around 6 years with everyday use. If you notice your makeup is not covering the way it once did, that's how you know you need a new brush.

Answer:
I asked a BE rep about this last month and she told me that after 5 years, it may be time for an upgrade on replacing your items. The brush shampoo works well. Once a month cleaning it is good unless you use it a lot then I would wash it twice a month. I don't use makeup much, so I used my Full Flawless Application Face Brush a few times and then years later I felt I need to wear makeup again because my youth is gone at the age of 26 already and I'll be 27 later this year. I like the Handy Buki Brush for foundation coverage. Try it...you should like it. It's smaller than this brush, but I'm able to control how much I put on and I feel the makeup has a better chance of being applied evenly and flawlessly.

Answer:
Hey,
So, I believe that it all depends on the type of brush, how you take care of it, and how long you have had it. It sounds like you take care of your brushes, just make sure to be gentle when washing them. I think Leslie has a video on how it should be done. It sounds like you need a new brush. If it is not giving you the same coverage it used to maybe it is time for another. Hope this is helpful! Good luck!

Answer:
It depends on how often you use the brush. I've found that when I was the brush with the bareminerals shampoo, I use an eyelash comb thingy to comb it out and then shape it with my fingers and let it air dry. My brush lasted about 3 years.
