Faux Tan Body Sunless Tanner
Use a mitt or gloves!
I'm reading reviews and getting upset! I love this tanner so much... BUT YOU HAVE TO PROTECT THOSE HANDS LADIES! I sit for awhile and just rub in circles, the longer the better. I avoid my knees, ankles, elbows and feet. Yes I see color come off in the shower, but it's just the bronzer pat. The base dye coat is still on my skin just waiting to be built upon. After three layers I give it a rest until I look paddle again. I add a bronzing shimmer powder if I have a special occasion. This is the ONLY tanner for me! Xox
Perfect Color for my Fair skin
I love to use self tanner in this part of the winter when I need a pick me up and natural tan is months away in Upstate New York. My Original foundation shade is Fairly Medium, or I wear Bare Shell in Bareskin foundation so I am pretty fair. I apply this product after showering, exfoliating and moisturizing at night before bed. It doesn't stain my white sheets, pillowcases or pajamas. I allow the color to develope overnight and shower again in the morning to wash it off. What remains is a nice warm, golden color. I think it makes me look thinner and younger, and it just makes me feel good. I have used this product on my face, too, although I like to use the formula Bare Minerals has developed for the face for a couple of days first because I'm so fair.
Always Ends Up Down The Drain
Maybe I need some personal assistance on applying this product. I have tried over the years to get it right, and it's never happened. No matter how much or how little I use, or whether I use the brush or my hands, or have my husband put it on, I have to wait, not minutes, but at least an hour before putting on clothes. And still it rubs off on my underwear and other clothing. The next morning when I shower, I watch most of it go down the drain, that's after 24 hrs. of applying the product. In fact, the color around my shower drain is now a light brown, and it doesn't come off, wish it worked that well on my body. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I HAVE READ all instructions about exfoliating, etc. Rhonda Caywood Park City, UT
Now the rest of my body matches my "Driver's Arm"
I'm a very fair skinned girl - I wear Fair in Winter and Fairly Light most of the rest of the time.....this is the ABSOLUTE BEST self tanner I've used - and I've used many many many varieties.
My left arm is a lovely golden glow thanks to driving between Chicago and Wisconsin - but the rest of me was still sadly pale. When I'd seen my best friend and complimented her tan she told me she was using Faux Tan and that pushed me over the ledge of indecision I'd been on for literally YEARS. #I've been honestly considering buying Faux Tan since it first came out#
I am so thankful I jumped - it smells GREAT, and not at all like any other self tanner I've tried. The color is fabulous, and I love that you can add to it if you want a darker tone. It does NOT come off on my WHITE sheets which is a huge bonus. Yes, if i shower a few hours after applying, some of the superficial color from the gel comes off in the shower, but the actual tan is still there and continues to darken.
I picked up a tanning mitt at Ulta after reading countless reviews and I'm thankful i did - it truly helped with achieving an even tone and keeping my hands stain-free.
Cannot wait for the jumbo to be back on HSN, I'm definitely picking up the Jumbo after using for a couple weeks and falling madly, completely in love with this product.
great tanner but delivery needs work
like many others, i have used this sunless body tanner for many years until i realized the formula contained parabens. thank you to bare minerals for being proactive to remove the parabens. only problem w/the new version is the delivery, i.e. pump. the new design is such that i have to hold the bottle on its side to dispense the product on the brush because the brush does not fit under the spout. the previous pump was designed to deliver more product & the brush fits under the pump. i save the pump from the previous bottle & am using that one now in place of the new pump...works much better....for this reason i'm giving the new formulation 3 rather than 5 stars.
Good, but definitely not as good as the original
I absolutely loved Bare Essentuals Faux Tan from the first time I tried it-- the color wasn't orange, it was easy to apply and didn't streak on me (I didn't use the brush, I applied with my hands using gloves), and the color was instant and lasted. Fast forward to a year later and I go to buy a new bottle and it's changed-- "OK, new product packaging, no biggie". Wrong. BIGGIE. Not only did they change the pump so you need to pump 8-10 times to get an adequate amount that you used to get in 1 of the original, but the color is paler and doesn't stain your skin as well. It's great for *maintaining* a sunless tan once you have it down, but for starting fresh? Majorly disappointed. I'm now scouring the internet trying to find bottles of the original because I really don't want to have to start looking for another sunless tanning product again.
PLEASE BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL FORMULA!!!
No time for the sun
I am always on the go, I can't just lay around and build some color on my skin and I refuse to do indoor tanning. Because of this, I am the lightest shade in all the bare minerals foundations. I might as well glow in the dark. I am just 15minutes from the beach, pale stands out. I have tried a few other sunless tanner lotions and they either turned me orange or they gave me an allergic reaction. This lotion is PERFECT!!! No rash, and no orange!
this is the best sunless tanner i have ever used.
my skin is very fair, i burn very easily. infact, i have never established a natural tan on my legs in my life! i decided to try Faux Tan Body about a week ago and the results are amazing! the deep tint allowed me to see where it was applied. i had intended to do only my legs, but after seeing the results i applied it all over. Its a natural glow, not "orange" and even in notorious areas like elbows and knees, color appears even and natural. thanks bare escentuals! i'm in love.
Don't waste your money!
Do yourself a favor and buy self tanner at your local drug store instead. It's very obvious a few hours later if you miss a spot. Also, when you're applying it your hands get really orange! It also gives your skin a little bit of a shimmery look (so unnatural!). This stuff is absolutely horrible! Do not use it!
Faux Tan Body Sunless Tanner
I bought this sunless tanner because I was frustrated at my lack of color now that Fall is starting up. I was a little nervous, because of the mixed reviews, but I love it! The amber color was a little scary, but it does really help to see where you apply it. It has given me a great color. I especially love how I can apply it to freshly shaved legs and there was no irritation! (I always get bumps on my legs when I apply lotions/creams too soon). This was a big seller for me.
Once you apply and get the color you want, it lasts about a week before you need to apply again.
Tip: Exfoliate your skin before applying!
Using a loofa will do the trick, but it helps prep your skin to be able to absorb all the beautiful color, and will make your tan last longer.
Tip: Use latex/rubber gloves to apply it for a more even color!
I use latex/rubber gloves when applying it because when I first started using it (and I rubbed it in with my bare hands) my palms would absorb a lot of the product, not only staining them, but I had to use more in order to get it on the rest of my body. It also took a little bit of scrubbing to get it all off my palms. Now, when I use the latex gloves, it spreads more evenly, doesn't discolor my palms, and allows me to use more of the product.
I use this in conjunction with the Faux Tan Face Gradual Glow Sunless Tanner.
